  1. thanks Paul, my mechanic thinks it is the actuator, not really sure, however I'm purchasing a new one on E-Bay for $48.00 and will give that a try
  2. I have a fuel door problem and have searched this forum for a answer, to no avail. The fuel door on my 2004 LS430 will not close....I have checked the fuse in the trunk and it is good. Is there an actuator I don't know about or is there some other fix? Thanks for any help!!
  3. No I have not purchased one yet. Where could I see your 2008? any pics? You could email me at rbeals2@ec.rr.com Thanks
  4. thanks for the info....I'm looking into hiring a broker to find one....I have heard good things regarding that
  5. Hello Folks, I've been a lurker for many months, only because I have not had a problem and love my LS 430 that I purchased used! It now has 90k trouble free miles on it and I'm planning on keeping it for a couple hundred thousand more....it is a great car! Which is leading up to this question....I'm planning on purchasing a good used 2007 or 2008 ES350 for my wife, with all the goodies...nav, ultra, etc. Where in this internet global economy is the best deal to be had??? Dealer auctions, off lease auctions, brokers, or for sale by owners? Any suggestions? I have seen prices in the 20-30k range... Any sellers here? Thanks for your help.
  6. Thanks! it is fixed!! They had the car for 4 days and really could not re-create the problem. I think they jiggled a few things, a little lube here and there, and it's fixed. The best service I have ever had....they drove over 100 miles to pick up my car and left me with a new '08 to use with 3/4 tank of gas for the 4 days....were in phone contact with me numerous times...returned my car washed and another 3/4 tank of gas all for $135.00. They probably had a couple of hours in it, plus some fustration. I can highly reccomend Johnson Lexus of Raleigh, NC. There will be no question when my time comes for a trade, where I will go.
  7. Thanks!...it is at the dealers right now, and they can't seem to find anything wrong with it. I did show them the repair bulletin on the problem, and they can't (won't) fix it if they cannot recreate the problem. I hope they come pick me up the next time it happens!
  8. The ignition switch in my 2004 LS does not always want to turn on (it does have a smart key, that is activated and works) Today the warning light and a message came on...said this...S/T Lock Failure. According to the owners manual it states when this message comes on that the interlock cable for steering lock is faulty, the master warning light flashes, a warning tone sounds and the message appears. Contact your Lexus dealer ASAP. So my question is, does anyone know about this problem? Is it an easy fix? I'm a 105 miles from the dealer, would a toyota dealer be able to fix this? Thanks any help is appreciated!
  9. OK thanks I will try that
  10. Hello, Tried to find this problem listed here with no luck....when ever I start up my 2004 LS430 ater 20 or so seconds I get a warning on the nav screen and a bell sound that that bluetooth connection failed. What do I need to do to fix this? Thanks!. Great forum!
  11. Hello, Sorry I'm late to the party, however, I want to share an experience about purchasing on Ebay. I just (3/12/08) purchased a 2004 LS430 on Ebay from California (I live in NC). It was a pretty smooth transaction! I hired SGS to check out the car for $99 and give me a full report (pretty inclusive), also I financed it through my bank for extra security. I also called the dealer ( he is part time and works out of his home) did a car fax, and also had the local Lexus dealer give any information they could. The car arrived about 26 days later, and in GREAT condition, I was not worried about a long distance Ebay sale. I personally think Ebay will be selling a lot more cars, and it is the only way to go. The seller sent me many (50+) pictures, the SGS inspection, and the Lexus dealer all said GREAT CAR.....so I bought it! I may have been lucky, but the car is in perfect shape, it is everything it is supposed to be, and I saved about 10k buying it on Ebay. I feel that if you check things out you can actually find out more about a car's history than you could purchasing from a dealer....plus 'ya don't have to go through all that BS buying a car from the local dealer!! The sales guy from our local dealership called me recently to ask what I was doing about buying a Lexus...I showed him. He can not believe what he saw. Touche! :D 9
  12. Hello, New owner and poster...just purchased a 2004 LS430. I had XM in another car and want to transfer it to the LS, first thing they needed was the radio code. I went to the owners manual and was informed to tune the radio to 000 and the code would appear....there is no 000 setting that I can find. Any help would be appreciated! This is a great forum, as I have already learned about the tire pressure reset button, and how to install the updated navi disc. Thanks! Almost bought a 745i, glad I didn't after reading posts here.
