  1. Obsidian Black w/Black ingterior... of course that is what I wanted and bought! (with Panoramic roof-black)
  2. I do not like that either. Usually happens on the highway,
  3. yes! nice job both cars look gr8! nice tire shine... But now u r really in!!! u will be compelled to wash after all rain and pollen attacks (With the pollen I will be washing Tomorrow as I leave for business trip (and the rain for 2 days and pollen are !@#$% me off). First PICS before and after Detailing

My first pix of ES 350 Black/Black with ultra Lux package, ML stereo etc. Detailed with Ultima Paint guard wash, Sonus paint cleanser, Ultima (2 coats) Paint guard +, and PS-21 wax.
  5. After spending 2 weeks reading through all the user books (new car from Lexus) I remember saying I would probably always go to Lexus, at least for alignment (if u buy tires elsewhere) and the indicator now in all the tires. good luck!
  6. Agree with you on the trucks ...people think they are 100% guaranteed no slide and they are most of the ones that are flying around too fast and smashingor getting stuck. All the technologies been improved, but why do I still see so many Beemers and other RWD cars still spinning in their parking spots while I zip out and pass them by? I think if you research on the net .... the net is this- AWD is king, but sometimes people mistake AWD as an enabler to drive to fast in poor conditions which may make them the most unsafe of all! RWD will spin more and is harder to get started in ice, snow etc FWD easier to not spin get traction when starting and at lower speeds RWD is better to control in a spin out scenario, more 'fun to drive' etc.. SO for most of us normal drivers, with red lights and a lot of starting and stopping in traffic, IMO FWD is better than RWD for safe driving. But overall I guess both technologies are improving to narrow the gaps, but I am still liking my FWD for bad conditions. cheers! I disagree....with today's technology & using common sense.....if you have a well balanced weight ratio (say as close to a 50% front & rear as possible...or there abouts) RWD car, add all the traction / stability 'nannies' that most vehicles come with these days (especially mid to higher end vehicles) & install a good set of winter tires......you will be more than fine to tackle a northeast winter or even a winter in Colorado.....one would have a very good arguement that what I just mentioned would trump any FWD vehicle equipped the same way. ;) RWD is easier to control in skids & such (imo) because the front wheels are not doing all of the work. I've driven mostly FWD vehicles myself, & owned 2 Subaru Foresters (still own one).....so I am familiar with the benefits of AWD as well (again with the proper tires.....otherwise why bother?)....but many put too much stock in them & have a tendency to be way over confident especially in the bad stuff.......at the start of every winter, why is it I see an SUV (with AWD) as the first vehicle in the ditch.......every time without failure? If one was driving a 1989 Cadillac Brougham (for example), I would have to agree with you on the FWD is better that RWD matter.....but not today. B) Don't get me wrong....I'm not knocking FWD vehicles.....I just don't believe they are better than RWD for traction in snow & ice.
  7. thanks. I definitely plan to wash it again spring has sprung and my car had a nice fluorescent green coat on it...arrghh--I think I iwll add a ramp to my shower and drive my car in a nd wash every day when i shower!! thanks again for all the advise.... I always love doing those comparisons and seeing how mine outshines the others. B) I would not recommend using the detailing spray if the car has dust on it, you might scratch the paint.
  8. Whoopps meant to add this one too--for Car Bras for Lexus (others too) (stolen from someone else's post in another thread here--sorry can't remember who posted) http://www.colgancustom.com/shop_vparts.php#1
  9. LEts use this thread for all to put in great websites for lexus parts or stuff to enhance our care, maint. or other wants for our automobiles! I found ebay for 1$ ipod retractible connectors from ACCstation (direct buy), for IPOD connections (1$ and 2.96 shiiping charge) Guys introduced me to autopia car care for products and detailing how to. http://www.autopia-carcare.com/ult-1004-100.html So I wanted to start a thread for everyone to add-in their sites and describe what is there and if needed why it is useful. In another thread I thought someone posted a site to buy Lexus parts (not from lexus) that were cheaper. I need to buy Winter rubber mats, want the official black lexus ones. any sites? see this one http://www.lexuspartsworld.com/Scripts/pro...sp?idproduct=78 cheers all
  10. hey JGT can you post one of the back showing the spoiler? I couldn't see it in the pix (but than i am going blind in my old age) cheerio I have the spoiler, but I am not sure it is work $400 like I think they wanted for it (I negotiated this in). I, mean, it's ok but I guess I thought it would be bigger. If you look, you can hardly see it. In my old car (Pontiac Bonneville), the rear spoiler really made the car look better....I am not so sure with the ES. Just one man's opinion! I think the lip spoiler gives it a subtle boost. If you look at one that does not have it and compare it to yours you would notice the improvement. That's what I like about Lexus, everything is subtle, not so flashy. Flash is up to the owner and how far they want to take it. Yep, I agree with you AZ regarding the subtle not flashy!
  11. Live or drive in an area with snow and than tell me FWD is just built for economy. As an every day car I could never buy RWD in the NEAST. Ice and snow RWD is deadly. AWD or FWD (4x4 too) is a necessity on snow or ice. Nothing like watching a RWD spinning its tires in the ice or snow and going nowhere
  12. Bought mine (on its way) from EBAY and aCCStation Its only 1 $ with shipping of $2.96. AND this one is retractable! 3.5MM JACK CAR AUDIO AUX AUXILIARY CABLE FOR IPOD/ZUNE
  13. Bought mine (on its way) from EBAY and aCCStation Its only 1 $ with shipping of 3.96. AND this one is retractable! 3.5MM JACK CAR AUDIO AUX AUXILIARY CABLE FOR IPOD/ZUNE
  14. If you live in the North east or other snow environments better to have FWD than rear wheel. Add to the race some snow or ice and the rear wheel might just sit in the snow! I remember me in my little Nissan Stanza (FWD) like 18 years ago in queens NY leaving work and driving some folks home (so they would not have to take the slowed bus) and seeing A Lexus and beamer spinning wheels in an effort to get up the hill on the icey/snowy street. As I puttered by I had a big smile on my face! I had a maxima Sports Edition which had fwd. so I know the benifits of real wheel drive but as I am not a racer and live in NY either FWD or AWD is a necessity. to each their own...
  15. I love the woodgrain (IMO) I was leanign towards either an infiniti M-35/45 or Volvo s-8..but HATED the woodgrain in the infiniti. to each ttheir own I guess.. Hey SW, I agree on your suggestions!!! That digital clock though....argh (I think they made the lights on the buttons around the nav system to match that awful green old digital clock). Now, the Cadillac CTS has digital readouts for the temperature (driver and passenger)...they were a little more modern in my opinion than that ugly digital clock in our ES. But, hey, I would rather have the resale value, quiet and comfort of my ES and the bluetooth (that the CTS did not have).
  16. u better watch it JGT---another thread had people biting at each other on the Lexus nav system... particulaly on the hack overide being stopped and not letting you access certain functions while driving. So AN old analog clock is now Classy, wait a few years and the digital readout will be the in thing I am not bothered by this I will look more closely at the clock later, and by the way, my volume works real well on the wheel, no lag there. cheers
  17. Just bought (3-31) 2008 ES 350 with UL package, ML stereo, NAV etc... No spoiler, had it on my last 2 cars going native!
  18. Ok so I have some OCD anal stuff going on.. would ya notice left side towels applicators (not used yet-the dirty will go there when cleaned), middle is mix Sonus,Pinnacle wax, and Ultima product for the exterior and on the right the interior mix-sonus and Ultima. Future (1 year) porter cable i think, some clay lubricant, more clay, pinnacle sovereign wax, Some tire stuff (I used some eagle one cleaner I think which is still with old supplies for my wifes car in the garage), maybe some Zaino products...etc... quote name='rjt65' date='Apr 10 2008, 01:36 PM' post='301467'] Ok my dirty towel and applicator Pile (wash towels in wash, applicator in sink with dawn liquid) and My little shelf of products (man 250-300$ for this stuff--DDOC must be over 5 figures with that setup!) they could have thrown in the Porter cable !! ;-)

  20. I got the foam applicator with a handle on it it does not fit the ps 21 but u just put each section in a little.no problem... PG + by hand is fine, actually i think u have to do it by hand. the Blue MF applicator is what is recommended..If you look at my list from my ssheet above you will see the I list all the applicators to use with each product in the task. Good Luck and sorry to hear about your dust. My Pollen season starting here in NY, cant wait to see a black base with Fluorescent green pollen on it! good luck! I got the PS21 and a foam applicator (which will not fit in the wax container, haven't tried it yet to see if it will be a problem), the Sonus wash kit which has the shampoo, drying towels and other towels, and the wash mit. So, $80 later, I figured I wait for the rest. In reading the directions from the shampoo bottle, it says I should seal or polish first, so I guess I should order the Ultima Paint Guard Plus and applicator before I do the wax. I do not plan to get any machines for a while, so I want to make sure that whatever I get and use is safe to be done by hand. This may have been asked, but is applying the Paint Guard by hand safe?
  21. Ok JGT time for you to change your screen name--to DR. Frankenstein, because you have created a detail monster! you and and DDOC can fight over who is Dr. Frankenstein and who is IGOR, assisting the DR, wait detailDOC arrgh he must be DR Frankenstein!!!! You created the thread and DDOC added all that detail (others too) so maybe u both are, thanks t I would have reinvested in the 'shabbier' store bought products (seems like only the Meguiars is considered up to snuff in Detail-Land) I will shoot a pix of my stuff when I organize later JGT: who has time for sleeping with 100 woman I have to clean my Car!!!!!!!!!! Well, maybe I can find some time for that, My wife is at at the gym hahahaha. I plan to stick my cleaning stuff in my bookcase in my home office until I create a good spot in my garage (traveling business for 2 weeks--so my constant posting and badgering will somewhat slow down!) I have my ssheet (now color coded) out to 52 weeks and will have target weeks to ensure I meet the 3-4 x a year stuff and annual stuff. Washing & waxing easy to stay on track with, though winter a challenge but ONR will be on my next order! PS- Of course it rained last nite into the morning (april showers blah blah blah but come friggin on already) I am happy to report checking last night and this morning beautiful water beading . Went to gym this early am, so air blew off the beads, and I have little to none water spots. More rain expected so maybe I will try the detail spray plus this weekend to clean er up! Also parked next to the the same model car at my gym my outshone the other by a mile!
  22. DDOC: when would u use Pinnacle Souv. paste versus/over the P21-s carnuba? Switch em up? every month do 1 2 weeks the other 2 weeks later? I cant wait to see how these products help me get my wifes 4 year old (and in bad need detailing) Expedition back in shape--will let ya know)
