  1. One thing that does concern me a bit is how much it's going to cost me if the AVS system malfunctions, but being a Toyota, I am not worried at this point too much.
  2. I personally love the AVS. I can change the suspension settings to suit my mood. Yes, handling does not change, but still, I would get the AVS option on my next ES. I like cushy in the city, but a more firmer ride on the highway. The softest setting on the highway can get a bit scary at high speeds, though. I test drove the '04 TL, and it handled like a dream, and it had a great sounding engine note, but the ride was so rough I thought I'd have to have a kidney transplant after! I miss my old Acura Legend coupe!
  3. This may sound obvious, but....do you have the AVS feature in the car? Maybe you have it set on the 'sport' mode?
  4. Wow....props to you for understanding what he wrote in that last post!
  5. Like I said in another post, when new the car came with 2 master keys, 1 valet key, and 1 flat key, which is the grand-master key. The flat key has the key's serial# stamped on it. With that number, you can get any number of keys made at your Lexus dealer for $100, I think. The flat key should be inside the pouch that contains the vehicle manuals. It looks just like the other keys, but just does not have the black plastic "L" on it...it is just a naked key. Anyways, you cannot buy the keys on e-bay (I'm sure), as they are laser cut with the grooves on the inside of the key...not a key that one can copy at the local hardware store. The heads of the master keys have a trapezoid shape, and the valet keys have a smaller, more rounded head. I think it's best you get at least 1 master key made, because locking/unlocking the car with the master key also arms/disarms the alarm the same as using the remote. I hope this helps! I want you to start to enjoy the car ASAP!!! B)
  6. Jens99lex: You mentioned that your alarm sounded when you used the key, and that you only received one key. You should get a master key from Lexus. The alarm will not sound if the master key is used to unlock your car. You only got the valet key. BTW, have you cut up your purses yet? My friend works for Coach...60% off!
  7. My display is starting to go, too... How un-Toyota like for such a simple part to go prematurely in so many cars.
  8. You're posing that question in the Lexusownersclub forums...think about it. NO ONE here is going to tell you that you made the wrong choice! BMW's are hella fun to drive, but the interior is so stark compared to Lexus interiors. I would also get rid of the BMW as soon as the warrenty expires, as they are not as reliable as Japanese cars in general. Dude, Lexus sucks. Get a Kia Amanti.
  9. I use both left & right. In city traffic I tend to use my left foot.
  10. Any advantages/disadvantages of VVT-i vs. Honda's VTEC?
  11. I don't think we got the Coach edition in Canada....maybe someone can correct me? You bought a beautiful car, IMHO....most people who I meet can't believe my car is 6 years old! Still looks new...damn those Toyota people know how to build cars! You can cut up your Coach purses and re-upholster your driver's seat with them for a pseudo-"Coach" edition car! :whistles: I truly hope the airbag light will be your only problem. It's a Toyota...should last at least 200,000mi. One possibility about your airbag: maybe some unscrupulous person removed the airbag? It's been known to happen. Off topic: test drove a '04 Acura TL today. What a piece of S**T! Awesome sounding engine and gobs of power, but very rough ride.
  12. Congrats on your new purchase, but I'm sorry to hear about your problems. :( I hope everything goes well for you. The dealer where you bought your car only gave you one key and no remote? That's a rip-off on the part of the previous owner, as the car came from the factory with 2 master keys, one valet key and a flat key for emergency use, with the key serial# to make additional keys. You also should have gotten the remote. I hope this wasn't an impulse buy, as more research might have been needed.... Have fun with the car. I have an (1997)ES300, and I love it. The Coach edition originally came with Coach fitted luggage, I think.
  13. I wear a pair of Giorgio Armani sunglasses, with the ultra-thin stainless steel frame...very light. Kinda like those glasses Snoopy wears as Joe Cool, but with rounded rectangular lenses!
  14. I'm VERY happy with my Yokohama AVS dB S2. Very quiet, smooth ride. B)
  15. Hello, fellow Lexus owners! I am new to this forum, and I thought I'd ask a question. Can the foglights be adjusted vertically? Thanks in advance!
  16. CRAP! These burn out with alarming regularity. Get the MTECs...those are nice. A pair in my Acura Legend coupe has lasted me 2 years now, but the average seem to be at least a year. Raazo & Gigalux (both made by Carmate in Japan)brands are great, too. PIAA are overrated. I've got Raazo bulbs in my ES300 and they are great, a bit brighter than MTEC bulbs, also more expensive.
  17. Really? I have never noticed it in mine, a 1997. It's very quiet at highway speeds. My Acura Legend coupe is also a frameless design, and it's almost as quiet as the Lexus. I'll pay more attention to it from now on, I guess...
  18. Maybe it's just residual oil from before?
