  1. You are the first person I know to have said his/her Lexus is not quiet enough!
  2. I did the same thing, but just paid my backyard mechanic pal a case of Warsteiner + parts! Woo!
  3. Yeah, that sensor is not worth replacing...my buddy who makes well over $200K a year isn't bothering to replace it. If you can live with the light constantly on, then it just does not matter.
  4. I think that light is for only the reaqr lights, so yes, your license plate light being out may trigger the sensor.
  5. Lookin' good! PS...I saw a ES250 in brand-new condition at my stealership last month! Absolutely mint! It's a testament to Toyota quality when a 15 year old car can look so nice with proper maintenance.
  6. My 97 ES300 does not have the ECT switch. I got it fully loaded...with the AVS, even. I think the 97~00 does not have the switch. The light warning light will also come on if the sensor itself is malfunctioning. My friend has a 97 also, and all the lights are working, but the sensor is broken. A $400 fix!
  7. Lexus ES300 forums: My stereo display LCD is malfunctioning! PLS help!
  8. Two questions: are the bolts for the engine cover standard bolts? The plugs at the back of the engine look like they are a PIA to get to. Are they?
  9. I have a 1997 ES300 still on its original battery. 100,000kms. Toyota OEM parts are amazing! :)
  10. That must suck. I'm glad you are ok, though. I guess this is what happens with the USA's penchant for many private auto-insurance companies.
  11. Daily driver: 1) Lexus GS430, fully loaded. Weekend cars: McLaren F1. Ferrari Enzo. Ferrari 360 Modena Spyder. 1957 Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing. Deusenberg SJ. Toyota 2000GT. This example is/was being displayed at one of the largest Toyota dealers in Vancouver. Some cars parked in my 'hood in the past month: A 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing. Owned by a classy older lady. The car is in Concours condition, and her and her husband drove it down to Monterey from Vancouver BC(!) a few weeks ago. My car is the white ES300. An Aston Martin DB7 parked beside me, but everyone's eyes were on the 300SL! These Lamborghinis were parked in front of the hotel across the street from the Starbucks in the previous 300SL photos. Enjoy!
  12. The part# I gave ya is just for the LCD display. If you want the woodgrain, it's the whole head unit that has to be replaced. I was quoted something like $1000CDN for the unit! Or, you can go here: http://www.exoticwooddash.com Real wood dash kits.
  13. That's because it's a picture of a Toyota Windom, perhaps? ;) The 'Lexus' nameplate does not exist in Japan...at least not yet. Toyota will introduce 'Lexus' to the JDM next year, or in 2006, I believe.
  14. I live in Vancouver, BC and I have only seen two 97+ ES300 without AVS. I think most of the cars were ordered by the dealers with AVS. One had to specifically request a non-AVS equipped car.
  15. If I understand your question properly, just buy this part from Pioneer, and have it replaced by a car audio shop or DIY. Do a search on removing the radio head unit...there will be a DIY thread somewhere here on LOC. http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/part.a...ductNum=CWM4319
  16. Hehehe....here's a few pictures I took this afternoon by my house. I parked next to the 300SL, took some pics and then an Aston Martin DB7 parked next to me. I was in an exotic car sandwich! The owner was a very distinguished lady, and we chatted for a while. She was very nice. *DROOL* Which would you choose? Daily driver: My ES300 Sunny weekend driver: 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe. B)
  17. I would choose the TL over an IS300. The IS300 interior looks too cheap, and the car is a bit too small if one has a family. They are both a blast to drive, but for purists, the RWD platform of the IS300 would be better, IMO.
  18. Well, duh. Lexus was never meant to be Toyota's sports division. They have always had adequate performance. Lexus has never claimed to be sporty, except the IS300. Speed isn't everything, ya know. So, when are you going to explain your name???
  19. How much, and who do I have to pay to become a mod or admin???? Wooo!
  20. I censored the post simple because even in the land of free speech, one man's freedoms end where the next man's freedoms begin. Yes, we live in a country of free speech, but that does not release a member from the forum guideline of having to be be polite to another member. Also, your "rant" was in no way a rant. It was highly educational, informative and extremely well worded. Thank you for the lesson. I especially liked the part about vTech vs VTEC. I was to ask that question myself but figured I would let it go. I spend to much time trying to figure out what could each members screen name possibly mean. Oh, I see. At first it sounded to me as the stereotypical American hypocrisy where freedom is coveted, but once one is offended, it is taken away....I guess I'm just bitter I didn't get to read his post. I would have loved to have responded to whatever was written! Thanks for the compliment.....that damn post took more than 2 hours to organize, mull over, write, proofread, & re-write! Arrrrrrr. I am especially proud of my term, "Magazine bench racers." Hehehe. *edit* I edited my long-winded post again! B)

  22. He died at the San Marino Grand Prix on May 1st, 1994. :( Steviej: Why did you censor the post? I thought America was the land of free speech?
