  1. DON'T open the motor up! Not needed and requires tearing the trunk apart. Go to eBay and buy the replacement MAST assembly. Its less than $50. You take the tubular mast out as well as the plastic notched riser. The new replacement system then gets fed into the mast/motor and it automatically establishes full up and full down somehow. I've replaced whole motor assemblies and this replacement mast is MUCH easier. good luck. Tim ;)
  2. Thanks so much!! It really is an odd situation that the light hasn't been on. Dealer is working to correct the problem now... Thanks!
  3. Does anyone know if all four tire sensors are the same color or each are different? I have been running on winter tires for 4 seasons now with all white sensors. Everything was fine until the dealer mucked one up and replaced it. Now the low inflation light is on and they're telling me it's because each sensor needs to be a different color?? It's worked for four seasons? So... all one color or each rim a different color? Thanks! :chairshot:
  4. I'll admit I'm not a big dealer fan for basic repairs. Thus, I think the prices quoted for the services recommended are excessive. At 30k miles, however, you should do each of the recommended services except, maybe, the carbon clean-out. I'm not sure what this even is. Could it be the carbon filters for the air circulation? Buy them and install them yourself if it is. You shouldn't have much carbon build up in your heads since your using Premium gas. As for the tire rotation, balancing and alignment, take the car to a local Goodyear or other tire oriented specialist. I assure you it will be cheaper than quoted at the dealer. Also, Power Steering Fluid, much like Brake Fluids, are corrosive to the rubber lines they are in. I have heard of flushing the brake fluid lines for this reason (it also prolongues the life of the master cylinder and disk calipers) but never the power steering. Seems like it makes sense for similar reasons... probably have the local mechanic who does your rotations and alignment also change this fluid (and brake fluid too). In fact, many of your national chains like Goodyear, PEP Boys, etc. will actually print out Lexus' 30k mile recommended check-up service schedule and do exactly what the dealer will do for a fraction of the cost. Save the dealer for the bog stuff (computer related, hard core engine related, etc.)...
  5. You may be confusing two different causes of the warning light. The first warning light was clearly due to pressure. This one may or may not be. Since you eliminated pressure as the variable, maybe try isolating anotehr cause. Sounds like "check if the plug is plugged in" but you may check to make sure someone didn't mistakenly hit the Alternate Tire switch near the glove compartment. Hopefully, that's all there is. Otherwise, I would demand that the dealer correct the problem. ALSO, I recommend scrapping those horrendous run-flats! I did and love the car again. I swapped them for Pirelli P-Zero Nero's... quiet, stick like glue and not expensive. You won't go through rims (and pressure sensors) as easily either!
  6. Just try some McGuires' car polish and work up to a nice wax to remove swirls. I just tried the new nanotechnology wax on the market and it is FANTASTIC in removing swirls. Keep the car waxed and any future overspray should come off easier.
