  1. Hey all, searched thru the message board, could use some help. Both daytime running lights (lights that stay on during the day while normal low or high beam lights are not in use) went out simultaneously and no longer function. Could this be a fuse issue? Any help would be appreciated, I am not what one would call mechanically gifted. :)
  2. I would like to upgrade my Nav DVD to a more current version - what is the latest correct version for my 2002 LX470? Any help would be appreciated.
  3. Hey folks - a quick note to let you know that I have had my 4th warranty replacement for my Silverstars in less than 2 years. Yes, the replacements are free (and the O'Reilly employee always smiles when I walk thru the door) - but the Silverstars are total POS. I have taken a VOM to make certain that the bulbs weren't getting too much current. The guy at O'Reilly said that they are thinking of no longer carrying them - too much of a pain in the !Removed!, as many people are experiencing the same issues as I am. YMMV.
  4. Just a quick update on the Silverstar replacement bulbs - I am now replacing my 2nd set in about a year and a half. Yes, I wore gloves to assure no finger oil on the bulb during installation. No, I don't use the headlights any more than an average amount of time. I expected to get more than 10 months use out of the low-beams - this seems like incredibly short lifespan for this product.
  5. The Nav DVD is dual sided - if you have that type of DVD burner, you should be able to duplicate an original.
  6. Curious what I should expect to pay for a 60K mile service. Better to do at Lexus or Toyota? I know that the 120K is better at Lexus due to the possibility of ruining the level control. Any thoughts?
  7. Purchased the above mentioned screen protectors - they are excellent. I would highly recommend them - easy to install, look great, no fingermarks or cleaning.
  8. FWIW, I did not touch the bulb - am very aware of finger oils shortening bulb life. And did get a free replacement at the local O'Reilly Auto Parts w/o a receipt or box. Just wish I could get something brighter for low beams.
  9. FWIW, I have had to replace the low beam H1ST's with less than 6 months of usage on them. Both bulbs failed within 1 week of the other. I have replaced them with the same model, but overall I'm pretty dissatisfied with them. Any suggestions?
  10. Mark, How did you get the dash cover off - don't want to break anything. Thanks!
  11. Anyone know if such a thing exists and where one could get it? I've seen transparent protectors for computers, cell phones, etc. Also, what do you use to clean it without damage? Thanks!
  12. I may be incorrect about the "street-legal" aspects of HID headlights - perhaps it was Xenon, etc. Chip's articles are close to way I remember seeing. Either way, I am disappointed in the overall headlight coverage of the LX470, with or without the Silvania's. What options exist now?
  13. Newest version was released in Oct. 2004, though I am not sure of the version number. My version (2003) is 3.1.
  14. I purchased a 2002 CPO LX470 - it came with the Nav release from that year. I purchased the upgrade DVD on ebay for under $150, works fine. I asked my dealer for the upgrade, they wouldn't do it. BTW, the DVD used for the Nav system is double density, so it would be tough to burn a copy :)
  15. I upgraded to the Sylvanias about 4 months ago and they are only marginally better than stock lights. My biggest problem with this style of headlight (projector) is the actual light pattern that they throw on the road - although the Sylvanias are a bit brighter, they don't seem to overcome the pattern limitations. Other than that, they work just fine and are a breeze to install. I am looking into HIDs, but heard that they are no longer street legal.
  16. If the mirror adjust switch is left in the center position, the side view mirrors will not tilt when the auto is shifted into reverse. In the right or left position, mirror tilting is operational. You probably had left the adjust switch in the center position until recently.
  17. Most certainly call Lexus Customer Service directly and explain your issue. They are extremely concerned about maintaining good relations with their customers and should be able to help you out.

    A/c

Same problem with my 2002 LX470 - it seems that the A/C works one way in local stop & go driving and another on the highway, as if the actual temperature setting is not relevant. Plan on asking my service tech when I take it in - I'll let you know.
  19. The air filter for the A/C is located somewhere within the dashboard glove compartment. Here's a link that shows the location and is a good place to purchase Lexus parts cheaply: http://www.lexus-parts.com/partdetail.asp?...ubCategoryID=49
  20. Same here. The free car wash is exactly that: free. Nothing more.
  21. I got a ton of crap from my friends about moving from NYC to Nashville - but not anymore :) We pay about $1.89 a gallon for regular. And, no, I don't buy in to the "premium is better" myth. If your car/truck requires it, use it. Otherwise, enjoy the price break.
  22. I would call the Lexus Consumer office if I were you - I would not let this go. I have seen posts regarding this problem in other Lexus forums. I am sure that Lexus knows this is an issue - do not stop at the dealership level. I have owned Lexus automobiles for over 13 years (2 LS400's, an RX300 & an LX470). I have gotten the complete stereo on my RX replaced for free when the car was out of warranty. I have gotten the driver side power seat replaced on my first LS when the car was out of warranty. And, I had the windshield replaced for free on my current LX. Make the call :)
  23. Funny you should say that. No more than 3 days after I purchased my CPO LX 470 I noticed a small windshield chip/crack. Took it back to the dealership and they replaced the windshield, no questions asked. Although I am used to a high level of dealer service, I was surprised at the ease in which my request was handled. I wonder if there might be a "secret" warrantee on windshields - this might be a known problem.
  24. It is true that the driver's and passenger's sideview mirrors tilt at different angles when your car is shifted into reverse. However, they *do* return to memory position when the car is shifted out of reverse. Your dealer is not being truthful with you - please refer to your owner's manual for complete details that you can show your dealer. BTW, if you leave the sideview adjustment switch in the center (non-active) position, it will bypass the mirror tilting function entirely.
