  1. HI I dont know why you would need to get it from lexus I just cross referenced that car and it says that its a group 48 battery. Could someone take a pic of the area the battery goes in.
  2. Is that was plugged into the factory antenna? Also can you tell me what the directions say about what the white and red are supposed to go to such as constant or switched may be referred to as ignition.
  3. Here is the mounting kit you will need: Just copy and paste the link http://cgi.ebay.com/1998-2005-LEXUS-GS-DBL...1QQcmdZViewItem Metra doesnt offer a wiring harness from the car to the aftermarket radio you will probably have to have a local shop install it. Vehicles with the Mark Levinson audio system, the amplifier is on the passenger side of the trunk. All other models, the amplifier is behind the glove box. This is from a very reliable site. I would recommend having a shop do the work.
  4. Are you speaking of when you have an alarm installed or the factory security that recognizes when a key is present?
  5. Try looking on ebay it would be the best bet. You could also do a google search. If I were you I would go with an after market you would increase your sound quality. Hope this helps.
  6. I hope this helps. Metra Electronics Corp. - 70-8112 (this is the part number ) Description Factory amplifier integration harness A factory amplifier interface harness that is plugged in behind the radio an retains the factory amplifier. This harness is set up for low level inputs only using the RCA outputs from the aftermarket radio. < Back
  7. You can do anything you want!!!! Pick a good local car audio shop and ask them to show you some leather upgrades and exterior upgrades. They should be able to do that. Hope this helps. Have a great day.
  8. Most shops will install customer bring in head units. I would recommend buying it from the shop for warranty reasons. The pricing is actually really good especially if they are going to do custom work. I would doubt that the Eclipse aftermarket are the same unit put in at the factory level. I would be very surprised if it were the same. Thanks again for supporting your local car audio shop.
  9. I dont think your amp is under the front seat it should be behind the backseat on the left side if your facing the backseat . It sounds like the factory amp is bad. If you have any questions feel free to ask I will help as much as I can.
  10. Thanks for the response. It just seems like a lot of people like to bad mouth the install industry. I dont know if i agree with the above post about spending a lot of money for a system that would sound as good as the factory system. I just quoted another job on a RX300 the factory nav setup was going to be around 3000.00. Also I have never put in an after market head unit that ever sounded worse than the factory it has always been better. If you buy a nice head unit with good EQ controls you can tune your stereo to your personal taste. You could purchase a kenwood system with nav in a car audio shop for the cost of just the factory computer. I dont know I guess its all a personal preference. Thanks a lot for your time. I really like this forum people are very knowledgeable and seem to care about helping each other.
  11. You can purchase speaker shims you will mount the speaker in the bracket and then screw it in place. it should give you enough clearance.
  12. That seems strange Im not sure but does the navigationa play through all of the speakers or just one I havnt done any work on one with nav. Im not sure if most people in my area just didnt get it. If it plays through all the speakers then i would have to say that the factory amp is ok. It may be possible that the radio portion has just went bad. Unfortunately in your car there isnt an easy way to tell.
  13. I dont find it strange that Best Buy wouldn't have a custom kit. Here in Ohio most custom jobs are done by a " shoddy custom audio place" as you so dubbed them. I know alot of the shops around here who their techs are actually from the big box stores and most of them were the install leads. Don't immediately assume because its a single location that they are unskilled. You will probably get better service from that small shop than from a big box. They will appreciate your business much more. I just had a customer that I did a standard radio install for that best buy had quoted them over 115.00 for just that. I am sure a double din nav unit would be much more. I just wanted to give you the opinion of a "shoddy custom audio place". Thanks again for taking the time to read this. I hope you find what your looking for.
  14. So you are able to get the navigation sound through all the speakers? But you do not get sound from the radio? How about if you play a cd?
  15. I am not sure what you mean but run a wire to the box. You would either have to replace the factory sub with an after market sub or you will have to add a hi to low converter and do a full amp install with an after market amp. It just depends on the amount of bass you would like. I hope this helps. Enjoy your car.
  16. I do see that alot of people have looked at the post but not many responses. Please give me some additional feedback. Thanks!!!
  17. I would check local junk yards. Or possibly local tire and rim shops where thy would sell used rims. If ya cant find the original ones you may be able to get cheap after market. Hope this helps.
  18. If you have a friend with a multimeter have them check what the output is with all of your accessories on such as ac stereo brights while at idle you should be 13-15.
  19. You should be able to get your alternator output checked for free. I dont see why an HO alternator would be and issue as long as its not over charging. Is everything factory in the car? If it is I dont see the benefit of a HO alternator. Hope this helps.
  20. I can walk ya through getting to the amp if you need it. Dan Kouri BD Mobile Electronics Akron Ohio 44306

  23. It is inbetween the rear seats and the spare tire.
  24. If you would like to see a nav unit added I posted some pics in a thread I started. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...c=46118&hl= just copy and paste thanks Dan
