  1. Thanks. I actually don't mind a bit harder ride - I drove BMWs before getting this LS460. In fact, I overinflate my LS460 tires by 2-3 psi to get a bit stiffer ride. So, that would not concern me. I also don't care about snow and ice conditions, as I live in California. But I don't want more noise than I get with my Bridgestones and poor handling.
  2. I need some advice for new tires for my LS460. The car came with Bridgestone Turanza EL42. They seem OK, but wear out too quickly. So, I have looked up what's available and narrowed down my choices to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus and Continental ExtremeContact DWS. I was going to get Michelins, but noticed that TireRack rates Continentals a bit better. I'd appreciate learning about anyone's practical experience with these two tires. Many thanks!

Bonus points if you had them on LS460. Many thanks!
  4. I have about 12,000 miles on my 2008 LS460. Is it really necessary to take it to a Lexus dealership for regular service? It seems to me that the price tag for what they do is a bit too high. This car does not seem to need much more in addition to replacing oil and filter, and that should not cost hundreds of dollars. Although I'd like to avoid unreasonable maintenance expenses, I certainly don't want to jeopardize the quality of service and the warranty. Do you service your LS460 only at Lexus dealerships? Can anyone recommend a high-quality, but less expensive than a dealership, shop for servicing an LS460 in Orange County, CA? Many thanks!
  5. I just got a new 2008 LS 460 and am thinking of buying 20" wheels for this car. So, I have a number of questions to which I have received conflicting answers from a local Lexus dealership and some places that sell aftermarket wheels. I would really appreciate it if anyone could share any relevant knowledge in response to the following questions: 1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the cast, forged and 3-part wheels? 2. Will installing aftermarket 20" wheels have any adverse affect on the Lexus warranty? 3. What effect will 20" wheels have on the quality of the ride and handling of the LS? 4. Is there any truth to the claims that installing 20" wheels will negatively impact some of the systems, e.g. that the the speedometer reading will no longer be accurate or that the transmission will not shift properly. If you have any other advice regarding 20" wheels and tires, that would be great too. And finally, if you have installed 20" wheels on an LS460 and are happy/unhappy, I would appreciate your sharing what specific wheels and tires you have installed. Many thanks!
