  1. Beautiful car man Ok thank you very much guys.
  2. I am going to be in the market for a 2006/07 GS430 here in the next couple of months. Recently I have been looking around on Ebay and Autotrader just to see whats out there but I'm having hard time knowing if the vehicle has Bluetooth or not. Was it a standard feature or did it come with an entertainment package? I found a 430 with navi rear camera and cooled seats but nowhere does it mention bluetooth in the ad. With the new law changes hands free is important to me Thanks for the help
  3. So lately I've been noticing my car (99 ES300 with 206k miles) knock, ping and sputter at 1200 rpm's when I would leave a light or stop. I could even hold the brake on and rev it to 1200 and I could hear bad knocking and it would kinda die. It all goes away after 1500 rpm's though. The car has never had a problem aside from an Igniter. I always put Premium fuel in it and I drive like a Grandpa. I have always noticed a knock when it shifts or hardly stepping on the gas pedal while going up a hill espically in summer with A/C on. I have Sea-foamed and replaced all plugs less then 8k miles ago I even removed the cover on the side of the intake and cleaned what I could in there with a rag. It has been raining here in Sacramento for the past week so I considered the rain might have something to do with the sputtering but today it was sunny out streets were dry and it finally happened. Check engine and traction control light came on. Great I thought to myself, now I can connect a scanner and find out whats wrong- P1305 Malfunction control ignition system misfire P1315 Malfunction control ignition system misfire P1325 Malfunction control ignition system misfire P1354 Malfunction control ignition system misfire P0300 Multiple misfires P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire P0306 Cylinder 6 Misfire Before I rented the scanner from Autozone I had an extra igniter from the last time one went bad and I tried replacing it with the igniters on the motor, that really didn't work so I opted for the scanner. By the time I returned home with the scanner the car cooled off I plugged it in wrote the codes down and went inside to do some research online. I figured that by switching the igniter around might have caused all the random misfire codes so I went back outside to clear the codes and start over. Well after I cleared the codes I started the car and to my surprise the famous Lexus idle had returned it was not sputtering and there were no lights on. I'm at a loss here I even have my spare Igniter out of the car! Anyone out there have any ideas? I'm going to see if it happens after the car warms up. While Googling the codes it was mentioned somewhere about an oil sensor? Has anyone out there heard of this happening before? Thanks in advance for the help out there.
  4. Hey everyone out there I have some questions for everyone, tell me what you think- I own a 1999 ES300 with a hard to believe 197k on the ODO I have had the car almost a year I bought it at 183K. I was hesitant to purchase a vehicle with this many miles at first but this being my second Lexus and seeing that the previous owner took extreme care of the car I decided to buy it. In my year of ownership I've noticed a few things that I would like to share with everyone. When I first drive the car in the morning it seems to hold second gear for quite a long time, it will get higher then usual in the RPM range, I let off the gas then it will shift, If I don't let off it will stay in second for quite a while. Has anyone else experienced that? Its done it since I've owned it It hasn't gotten worse or anything its just a litle odd to me. Its like its trying to warm the car up faster but I don't have the heat on. Second question Does everyone run premium? When I first bought the ES I would put 87 in it but would notice knocking and pinging while driving especially with the A/C on. I did the seafoam thinking that might help things but to no avail. Out here in Northern Cali premium is $3.75 a gallon! Has anyone experienced the same thing and might have a suggestion on what to do? I would like to be able to use 87 in my car its almost 25 cents cheaper and that adds up I'm currently getting 22/28 mpg depending on how much highway. I average just over 400 miles to a tank, and that's really topping it off You think maybe intake cleaning or change timing a little? Thanks in advance Jerry
  5. Sacramento CA- $3.47 Premium $58.60 To fill up I usually get just over 400 miles to a tank
  6. Thanks, I will have our tech take a look at it. You guys are a great help Jerry
  7. This thing is so weird... We have adopted this car as the lot car for the time being until we fix the problem, so today we drove the ES around in 112 degree weather with the A/C on max cool and here is what happened. For the first 30 minutes of mix freeway and city driving no problems at all shortly after that for some strange reason while at a long red light the A/C air started getting warm like the compressor was not on and then we watched the temp needle start to move up. We thought the fans might not be on, when the light turned green we started moving it seemed that something "clicked" on because the A/C started getting colder. we pulled into the dealership turned off the car for 3 minutes then I got back in started it and pulled it into the shade so I could take a look at it. In that 3 minutes that the car was off the temp. needle returned to the spot where it was for the first 30 minutes of driving. I let the car idle for 10 minutes with the A/C on and the needle did not budge! I am so lost anybody got any ideas??? Thanks Jerry
  8. Thanks for the advice- Oh wow 10 year warranty!!! Are there any restrictions and how do I find more info on the "recall" Is it pretty common for a car with that many miles to see a head gasket problem like that? And do the symptoms sound like that type of problem? One more thing I noticed was when I accelerated while the temp was hot the car knocked like trick or treaters on a rich mans door, you think maybe just hot air getting to the motor??? If your interested in checking out how clean the car is you can see it here- http://www.adamscarconnection.com/detail.php?stock=ACC119 Thanks again, this site rocks Jerry
  9. Hi everyone, I am new to the ES side of the forum. I had a 92 SC400 with a ton of miles received so much helpful advice from everyone. I hope you guys can help me out just as well- So the time has come for me to get a 4 door, my SC is long gone and the car was so great to me I truly believe in Lexus quality but here is my delima, I work at a car dealership here in Sacramento Ca, and a few weeks ago the used car manager delivered a 1999 ES 300 to the lot, the car is unbelievably clean inside no wear on the leather, body in perfect shape, no paint work or even door dings. There is no way to tell the car has 183 THOUSAND miles on it! The CarFax came back clean... Anyways- I took the car on a test drive this weekend on a 109 degree day and while at a red light I noticed the temp gauge slowly creeping up, by this point I have driven the car for about 30 minutes with no problems through town red light to red light with the A/C on Max Cold but after a half an hour it started giving me trouble. The Temp gauge was just above 3/4 when I started moving again and it went back down to "normal" I thought that was odd and headed back to the dealer where I parked the car for me to check it out on Monday morning when it was cooler. The next day I pulled the car to the service drive so I can check out things in the shade. Oil looked good, Trans oil looked brand new, the previous owner really took care of it, but I am worried about the heat going up I even drove the car some more today and noticed the same thing happen. I idled the car for 10 minutes- no problems drove it about 6 miles away and idled if front of the business for ten more minutes still fine. But on the way back to the dealer while stopped at a stop sign the gauge started moving again. The needle is still 4 maybe 5 little marks from the red on the gauge but it still makes me wonder what might be wrong. Anybody out there have any ideas??? Please help Thanks a ton Jerry
  10. I have a 2001 gs 430 with the stock navigation system and I am looking at adding a DVD converter so I can connect an outside video source and watch movies on the stock nav. screen. I have seen many different systems for sale and I am wondering if the need of a FM modulator is required? I would perfer a converter that will send the audio directly to the nav audio system insted of a FM modulator ( the audio loss and more buttons to press). Can anybody refer me to a site or company with a system like that? Thanks guys
  11. So I finally was able to pick up my 92 sc400 from the body shop where it has been for almost 8 months (it was a bro deal on paint so I could not complian) the battery was completly dead and replaced, But when I drove the car home my ride to the body shop was behind me and sure enough I had brake lights but no tails got home and checked the bulbs and they seemed good. Has anybody had this happen? What should I try?
  12. I just got back from a dealership that buys lease returns and wholesale ect. They have a 1998 lexus GS 400 with 66k miles the interior looked clean along with the outside although it was missing a spoiler and 17'' rims. It has navigation but it says "check hard drive" does anybody know what that means? Also the dealership is asking $21,999 it seems a little high to me. What do you all think, sounds like a good deal? What things should I look at when looking at the GS, what thing usually wear or need attention? Thanks, Jerry here is the link I found it on Autotrader.com http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_...olor=&cardist=7
  13. thanks for the help... we shal see how it goes tomorrow
  14. I spent most the day taking all the fuel rails and the exhaust manifold off. I can see the starter, only I cannot figure out how to get to the two blots holding on the starter they are aginst the firewall and no tool I own can get to them. I have not removed the part right behind the manifold it looks like the same metal and when I took off the bolts to it. it would not move. I read somewhere that you can do something with the wireing harness??? Is there anybody that has removed the starter from a 92 sc400 that can help me get back on the road??? any advice/tips will help. Thanks, Jerry
