  1. That is weird because, I too have 00 Platnium edition and 08 es. The platnium was bought used and has a bad amp, but I did own another 00 platnium bought new in 2000 and the Nakamichi system sounds better in my opinion. I do like the ML system, but the Nakamichi had more thump. My ML system has to have bass way up with mids and highs about flat. Make sure ASL is off and turn off surround sound. CRANK IT UP
  2. Have had a chance lately to check out the system in our 08 es. We don't drive it that much, as the 00 platnium gets the around town miles. The ML system sounds very good at all levels. I listen to alot of guitar based rock and can take it loud. This system is crisp, clean sound with plenty of punch. Some of the stuff i listen to has guitar and bass tuned way low and there is still good seperation and no distortion. ML sounds just about as good as custom JL Audio system in my truck. This set up is 450 watt 5 channel amp with sub and it kicks major butt. A little more bottom end from the JL sub. The stereo in the 2000 platnium has a bad amp, but back in the day, it was hard to beat for a stock system. Oh yeah, the new ES is a great ride too.
  3. Glad to be moving to a new place in VA with double garage and a seperate building that will be perfect for detailing. My ES's will now be garaged year round as thay get that in FL when there a quarter of the year. New place will be awesome!!!
  4. Ours is 08 with UL, Levinson system, blk sapphire and cashmere. Looks incredible with new black window tint. I have seen a couple of white with UL and did not like the contrast between dark roof on light color body. I still think our 2000 Platinum series is my favorite out of the two. You can't compare it on performance, but the quality of interior materials used blows the new one away. The old Nakamichi system sounds better than the ML too. Still like the new car just fine.
  5. I have a dark spot on the glass in the drivers side mirror. Dealership wants to relace mirror assembly for alot of $$. Do I have to replace the complete assembly ? Have seen fit over glass listed, but I want it factory correct. These are auto-dimming from 2000 Plat. Edition, I think they are heated. Anyone know a good place to get what I need. Thanks
  6. You should go get the car, get a new title since the coked up mechanic never registered it. Something like this has happened to a guy I know. He sold a Vette to somebody that never registered the car. A few years later the car was in an impound lot in Tampa. They tracked down the last person to register it, and told him he could pay the fees and take his car. He did, and got a new title and sold the car again. I don't think coke boy will miss it.
  7. Hello, I'm new here, but not new to Lexus cars. I have driven Toyota and Lexus for more than half of my life. Great cars and trucks. Bought 08 ES350 a couple of weeks back and like it so far. I have a 2000 platnum edition blk/blk that is still a fine ride. The new ES is blk sapphire/cashmire UL,ML ect. I hope this new one is as good to us as the 2000.
