  1. ANYONE here looked at an egr valve in their own garage?
  2. I ran a search, and it LOOKS like something that requires a lot of disassembly of the engine, but maybe I am looking at it the wrong way, I am just wondering if it is something I can fix myself at all.
  3. My brothers lexus threw a error code 71 which is an "EGR system malfunction" which is only for california vehicles I thought.... does this mean there is something wrong with the car?... or is it nothing to worry about. BTW he has a '90 ls400 with 160K... is there something to reset the light?
  4. oh, ok, thats not the park place my dad bough his sc430 from
  5. anyone else have any ideas on what to replace around 160K?
  6. which park place exactly are you talking about?... is it the one next to texas toyota?
  7. same thing happened to my brothers lexus, hit and run... not sure how much it was to fix.... he also had some rim damage
  8. Im located in Colleyville... kinda outside Dallas...... but I see you are too, would you scan it for free?
  9. "Under your hood there should be a black cover usually located on the drivers side that says DIAGNOSTIC. You want to short TE1 and E1 with a paper clip or short wire run. When these two are shorted get in the car and turn the ignition to ON, do not start. The engine light will blink the first number in the error code, pause then blink the second number. Count these, post them here and I'm sure someone can help you out."......... I dug this up from some really old threads, is this a good idea, and will it work on a '90 ls400?
  10. his antenna mast is pretty new, because the dealer broke it last time he took it in, so they gave him a new one.... and if autozone cannot read the obd1 codes, then is the dealer the only one who can?... and will that cost big bucks just for them to check it?
  11. My brother has a 91 ls400 and the check engine light has been on for a while, he took it to autozone to get his codes read and they told him that it was 95 or older, so they couldnt read his codes..... is this just crap or what?.... and when i was driving his car, it seems like you have to press awefully hard to get the car to slow(im comparing brake feel to our sc430 and toyota sienna), he said he just got new pads, could he be in need of some steel braided lines?... hes around 160K miles, is there anything he should be looking at changing? I.E. motor mounts, new shocks and struts, etc. he has gotten a new steering pump recently, and a new retractible antenna, but sometimes it doesnt go down all the way, is there any lubricant that would help?... I have tried WD-40 and it seems to wear off after a couple days.... thats all of the problems I can think of right now...
