  1. At the risk of being kicked off LOC :whistles:I'd like to ask SKperf to Please lose the pic of his ride with the gal, I'm suffering from low bandwidth.....I tried to PM but I'm not allowed... :cries:
  2. Either oil pressure or oil level . Oil level on my 96 is a yellow light I believe and oil pressure is red.
  3. Is this for real? A few months ago I ordered a non-remote master key ($52) from the dealer in Va. Beach and it was ready the next day. If it was coming from the great white north they must stay up all night! :D
  4. My local dealer just needs proof of ownership and the VIN and they will get me a key the next day. Master key =$200. + $40 to program or non-remote master key for $58.
  5. Hey Folks, I think my speedometer is reading a bit slow. Just wondering what you are running for engine speed @ 60 MPH...I'm running about 2250 rpm. Sound about right? Thanks in advance....BTW=1996 ES300 Automatic tranny.
  6. Had the same problem with my 96 es300. Bought the valve @ Carquest for $35. You have to remove the negative terminal from battery as you will be working around the passenger airbag. Disconnect the pass ABS through the glovebox then remove the glovebox, ECU, blower !Removed!'y, evap cover & then the coil will just slide out. Man it was filthy. 2 Screws hold the valve on. Make sure you get it in the right direction for flow. Took me a few hours with a service manual, but I've been in the commercial/industrial A/C industry since 1980, so it was no big deal to me. But I don't think it is a DIY project for the untrained. You also need to get vacuum pump and recovery equipment. I was able to borrow from a buddy. :D
  7. The expansion valve is located on the evaporator(just had to change mine). The disc you speak of I believe is a relief valve which is normally located external of compressor. It is supposed to relieve excessive pressure. If you could provide more details about how the system is operating such as lo/hi pressure readings, line temps, etc. I think we can figure this out.
  8. When I test drove the vehicle, the MIL (p00135 DTC. - sensor 1 bank 1 oxygen sensor heater malfunction)came on at the end of my ride and part of the deal for me to buy the car was that they would correct the problem. . The dealer took it to his service guy who changed the sensor and the next day is when I got smoke and the MIL again. So I called him and he said to bring it back over. This same guy diagnosed oil seals were bad and causing the sensor to foul. This guy did not want to do the seals so the dealer found a local Toyota guy to do it(thank goodness). While he was doing this , I invested in a repair manual and found out that the 1st guy had changed the wrong oxygen sensor. So to make a long story a little bit shorter, the dealer repaired the seals thinking that would fix the MIL. Of course it didn't and I was just happy to get my car back after 2 weeks that I bought the sensor and installed myself yesterday and so far no more problems.
  9. :D UPDATE...took vehicle back to dealer and he replaced the valve stem seals at no cost to me....just the price I was looking for! Thanks for all of your help folks.
  10. Just purchased a used Lexus ES300 with 1MZ-FE 3.0l 24 valve 6 banger. 83k miles. When I test drove the vehicle, (First thing in the morning-I was there when the business opened) I did not see any smoke from the exhaust but the next morning when I started the car the grayish oily smelling smoke rolled out. It gets better after the car runs awhile until it darn near is non-existent. The engine runs strong and smooth. Not sure how well this car was maintained ( it was a leased vehicle). I'm thinking that maybe it could be valve seals or (*gasp* ) rings, but I'm told by a friend that it could also be sludge build-up. Any help you could provide is greatly appreciated.
