I have another question, my dad is questioning whether my pump is leaking and that it isnt a hose that is leaking. The power steering pump pully is not wet with PS fluid at all, and my dad said the bearing is what goes out which causes the seal to go out and if that is the case there should be oil on the pulley. What are the signs that it is the pump that is leaking and not the hose? Also, im questioning whether this is the original power steering pump is there a way to tell? I know i have alot of questions but its the first time doing this...harder than i expected.

im down to the last bolt...the last !@#$%^& bolt. Does anyone have any tips to get that !Removed! of a bolt that is underneath the power steering pump off? I honeslty cannot get it and now the threads are rounding off. Why is it right there???

I don't know if im just listening to much to the car or there is something wrong here but my car has been acting a bit weird .. Ok when I first start taking off, usually when the car is cold it will make a VERY SOFT Wooommpp sound probably about a half of second sound, and it happens at the most random times. It only happens under thirty miles an hour and when it is cold but other than that it is completely random on when it happens. The next thing is something that may have been there before bu i never noticed it, when i take off as i get higher in spped i hear a very soft whistling sound the seems to go with the speed im traveling. It also seems then when i take the car out of park and into gear it will drop almost below five hundred RPM's and get a bit of vibration. I dont know if this is normal or not. I am just wondering if anyone has heard anything that even remotely sounds like what im describing hear.

I recently purchased a 1993 ls400 I love the car and it drives great, uns great, and looks great. There are some problems though, and i think they are all electronic. Problems: - Switches on the window master control on drivers side. They will bring the windows down but not back up. Except for the drviers window itself. - The dash lights for the instrument cluster do not work when it is cold, it has to warm up. Not to big of a deal only takes about ten minutes but still. - I dont know how to turn off the K40 radar detector, the beeps are driving me crazy. - The heated seats do not work. The switches seem to turn on but now heat residuates from them. I was just wondering if there are any simple things you can do to fix these problems. Other than those this car makes me happy.

Yeah I know this. I wish it was 25% or something. I will probably get busted and have to take it off but until then rock on. Ha ha.

Thats the thing there is no radar detector to see, it is two lights on the top of the instrument panel bay. Here is some pictures of the car itself though....

I just got it back, the rust was not even as bad as i thought. Im extatic about the purchase. She runs beautifully. Question sense I have the manual but im lazy, can you tell me how to turn the radar detector off. The thing is driving me crazy with the beeps. Also, all my windows work but from my control pad in the drivers seat it they will only go down not up. Am i missing something, or are my switches just bad. Another quick question, the gas guage doesnt really work. It will say empty when cold and when i drive it around it slowly goes up, what is the problem with this? One more question, The stock alarm is still on it. Do these alarms actually work? Other than those it is beautiful. I will take some pictures tomorrow. Everything runs like a dream and works, other than the things i mentioned.

That means one side should cost about what i thought. Im going to pick up the car right now!!

ARENT YOU COOL...ha that was just jealousy. I am going to fix it now, hopefully it will only cost about five hundred. Then she will be ALMOST mint.

Well I dont really need warranty work, really i just want to get five years out of the patch up. Now, my dad is weary because normally when a car rusts it rusts on both sides. So he is worried that it got hit on that side and had a bad repair job and thats why it is bubbling right there. Is this a normal spot for rust on the 93's?

Well, I decided to take the lexus plunge. I went and saw a beautiful 1993 Lexus LS400. New brakes and tires just put on, tinted windows with 144,000 miles. Service done at 100,000. (timing belt). Got it for 4800$. Im so excited. Its alpine silver and gorgeous. I just hope I made the right decision. It has one flaw to it, and that is a tiny tiny spot that hasnt rusted yet but it is bubbling on the rear fender. I was just wondering how much do you think this would cost to get removed and repainted? :)

If you do not plan on doing the work yourself to fix that problem, the labor will probably be very expensive. Between that and the cosmetic work, probably expensive enough that you could find a car in better condition for the same amount of money. I was going to do the work myself, but it doesnt matter I saw rust bubbling under the passenger rear fender and said nope to an offer of 5200. Although I wish it was in better shape becuase he had put new tie rods and ball joints in the front. He had also replaced timing belt and water pump, and new tires. So it was hard but i want a car that is mechanically sound as well as looks good.

Ok, I decided to scrap the ninety four, not completely but overlook it for now becuase of the way the dealers tried to sell it. I get its there job but they were lying to me and i knew it. So, now I found a 1996 LS400 One dent in the front fender...not sure how much a fender and paint costs. IT also has a leak where the EGR vavle house connects to the cadilatic converter..(thats just what he told me I do not know what it looks like,) 120,000 miles with new breaks tires and TIMING BELT. Now I was under the impression that these vehicles were pretty reliable.....but from what your saying it doesnt seem that wat. Does everyone feel this way? And yes thank you, atleast i know its never been wrecked....atleast reportedly so. Hers a virtual beer(best i could do)

Let's see... You are about to spend $5400.00 for a used car and you think 30 miles is too far to go for a VIN check and maybe a pre-purchase inspection... Offer the selling dealer a copy of the PPI anbd see if they will let you take the car that 30 miles. How much will a pre purchase inspection run me?
