  2. i have the same brake issue. did you resolve yours and what was the problem?

    thanks

No i am still dealing with it, i need to get them turned to see if it is a real break nighmare but i only think that it is a warped rotor.

When you changed out your old brakes did you blead the system on each wheel you worked on?

With rational thinking there can be only 2 options for this vibration

    1. Lack of pressure due to air in the brakelines

    2. Warped rotor

I dont have enough cash to get mine rotors turned right know so i am waiting a little while longer.

If you figure it out please post what you did to make it better.

    Thanks,

PS i tried to post pictures but the web site would not allow it. I have a photo of the new drilled and slotted rotors in the gallery.

  3. 20 inch asanti af131's. tires are nitto nt555. rear wheels are 20x10, fronts wheels are 20x9.5.

Wondering if these would fit on my 03 gs300? Probably a dumb question I know, im just not sure how to figure that out. Also wondering why sometimes rims will say if they are for FWD or RWD - what does that matter? The GS300 is RWD, has traction control, does that matter?

    TIA

I have an 93 GS and my 20's fit fine. I think that most go with, 19's and a lowering kit, best ride most power to wheels and overall look is great.

I on the other hand could have probably fit 22's with no suspension adjustment and maybe a little rubbing on the inner fender wells.

Make sure the width of the rims can fit against you upper A-Arm of your suspension if not get some spacers.

If i was you i would find a way , I love my 20's. they are a little more squirrelly then smaller rims but you get used to it.

good luck and no matter what you got a lexus!

  4. 01' GS300

I recently had a check engine light come on and went to the dealership to check it out. They told me it was the mass air flow sensor and was running on its peak and really shouldn't drive and should get it fixed. Scaring me like that I got fixed for $700. Once finished, I drive off the lot, few miles down the engine light comes on again...WTF. So i take back right away and they do more tests...

They said my Coolant is leaking somewhere into one of my spark plugs which then results to flood and the spark plug to turn to the water and misfire...or something like that. I lost him as soon as he started talking. So is this true? He tells me to get GM coolant sealer and to crush it and put it in the radiator which should seal it. Otherwise he said it would cost like $3500 to fix.

    1) Does anyone know where all 6 spark plugs are located?

    2) Can I still drive the car, and for how long?

    3) What are my solutions to locate the problem and fix it. He said to find out the

problem, he would need to do high pressure test.

    4) Will a gasket blow off if I keep driving.

Does any one have tutorials w/images to change spark plugs, coolant and brake fluid flushes?

    Thanks.... Please help.

good luck on findong out what it is. If it is coolent in the cylinders look at your oil if it is cloudy brown most likley a blown head gasket. I also say get the hell away from those dealerships. Most of the time they are low level tech's. Take it to a performance shop they will be able to tell you whats wrong and not bend you over while doing it. Plus the same guy might be able to install that new turbo'd motor you wanted anyway. PLease keep us posted on what the outcome is.

  5. Just got slotted and drilled rotors. Installed all 4 after work this weekend. Now i have a vibration coming from the front. Do you think it is air in the system.

It does not pull when braked and it only happens on braking around 40 -30 mph. Any ideas or suggestion to what it might be?

PS. i had to already test them for real when a BMW ran a stop sign, I slammed the brakes which worked better then i expected and saved my front end. the best thing was my 3 yr old boy saying sweet Brakes daddy after that !Removed! in the beemr about killed my ride. It was right on Q and too classic, kids are great.

I will post some pics of the new brakes. I also painted the Calipers.

Does any one know where to get small lexus stickers that i can put on the calipers, i have not looked but i dont think i could find them if i did. any ideas?

  6. So i got the Vacuum control Valve yesterday, Installed it in 15 Minutes. It actually took longer to get the battery in and out then the valve.

When i installed the valve it was a 1/2 turn less then the existing piece which changed the lay-out of which way i think the vaccum lines hooked up.This is a quick explination if any one has this same question in the future there is a small plug on one side of the valve that i used as my indicator and tried both directions for short bursts with the car. It seems to me after driving to work this morning that you need to run the line out if the Intake to the side with the small plug(located on the side of the Valve body itself). Then the other Vacuum line attaches to the front corner tube coming out of the head.

  7. OK...i feel like a dufus!

Just replaced the front oil seal and timing belt on a 1993 Lexus GS300.....and I cannot remember how the drive belt was laid out.

Can anyone share a link or pic of an installed serpentine (drive) belt.

    Thanks

    Mike (dufus) in Austin

I tried to upload an image but maybe i can just descibe it.

The belt goes on the outisde of all pulleys eccpt for the Tensioner

    ----------O

    O----t

    ----C---O

these o's represent the pulley's C for Crank pulley

and the t is the tensioner

Like i said the the belt goes around the perimeter of all the pulleys then on the bottom side of the Tensioner.

The dashes made the image look like it needed to. just disregard them

Now i feel like the dufus for the sweet image and spelling

  8. I have a 1993 GS 300 that i just replaced the power steering on, I had all the signs , Growling, white smoke out the tail pipes.

I replaced and it smoked a little, i thought it was all good but 2 days later what did i hear that damn growl. I ordered the VCV for the unit because i am most certain the valve is bad.

    Now the really dumb part!!!

I DID NOT TAKE A PICTURE BEFORE REMOVING THE VACUUM LINES AND CAN NOT REMEMBER WHICH GOES TO THE FRONT SIDE OF THE MOTOR AND WHICH CONNECTS TO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. CAN ANYONE HELP ADVISE ME ON WHICH GOES WHERE BEFORE I REPLACE THE VALVE TODAY AFTER WORK?

    I cant stand that growl.

Also i broke the Crank pulley and replaced it with an Unorthidox pulley. I am almost sure this is effecting the power steering as well. has any one done this and seen the same problem.
