  1. I have a 2004 LS430 ( I beleive it is Gen 4 system) with map data 3.1.

What is the latest data update I can use which will allow me to use the override steps you describe in the tutorials section. Also any suggested places to buy the disk?

Any post you can refer me to for intallation instructions?

    Thx Ernie

Hi Ernie, the latest nav software with the override menu is version 5.1, which is pretty out of date, as the latest navigation software is version 7.1. I've sent you a pm with more info, and can send you install instructions as well.

  2. Take a mechanic or knowledgeable friend with you to inspect the car if you're that set on getting the car. However, as cars move past state lines, many details are lost such as a salvaged title. Good luck. I would wonder why they had to move it so far from Louisiana to try and sell a low mileage car.

  3. anywho, how is the prius compare to the 400h? I commute 70 miles a day on my 400h and I started to feel it's such a waste to put that many mileage on a Lexus, I'm thinking of getting a cheaper and better fuel economy car just for work like a Prius (and still keeping the 400h for leisure), but that's gonna stack up more debt :(

If gas prices continue to rise like it is doing, you may able to make payments towards the prius with the gas money you would otherwise be spending on the rx!

  4. I have an '06 RX330. Can anyone tell me how to determine the version number of the Navigation system that came stock with the car?

I'd like to upgrade the maps, but I just saw a dealer advertised price for their DVD, and I had to take two nitroglycerin tabs to recover ...

    Thanks.

If you are using the OEM original disc that came with the car (2006), you are currently using either version 5.1 or 6.1. You can check by either looking at the navigation disc located in your trunk area, or by pulling up the dvd menu (Tap Menu, Tap Map Disc).

  5. Lexus has added to the navigation database with the more recent navigation 7.1 dvd release. The new dvd covers the entire provinces of Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia.

They have also added coverage to Alberta:

    - Rebuilt 4 Interchanges on Hwy 2 in Calgary Area

    - Realigned 2 interchanges of TCH west of Calgary construction of Hwy 43 fro Gunn to Glenevis & Greencourt to Fox Creek (Lao Ste Anne)

    - Added 25,114 addresses and 1,180 miles of streets

Though you house may have been there 20 years, it all depends on if it was covered on the map database. The map does show coverage of Calgary and Edmonton on the map coverage screen. If you want, pm me your address and I can see if it shows up on version 7.1.

The above updates only reflect the changes from 6.1 to 7.1, and so if you have an earlier version, there will have been more updates made.

  6. I have a ls430 2006. Which version of maps do I have and how can it be upgraded?

The 2006 LS430 has a generation 4 system. Upgrading is the same as in all Lexus dvd navigation systems, accomplished by simply inserting the new navigation dvd. You can email me:
