  1. I bet you are correct SW - I would replace the mirrors if it were me.
  2. I agree with you on the warranty statement. Clearly that was part of my reasoning, but I didn't realize it until you said it. :)
  3. I think what your are experiencing prompted Lexus’ decision to reduce the size of the outside mirrors substantially; only the 2007's have the giant mirrors. Short of plucking the outside mirrors off and replacing them with 08 or 09 side mirrors I’m not sure what they could do. It seems the first year of model cycles always have little issues like this, even Lexus.
  4. For a difference of $825... I would carry the two remotes!
  5. The Ziebart I use for window tint/clear bras etc., can do the ES350s for $325. 'Normal' cars are $250, but the ES350 is $325 (ironically, the owner has a 350 himself – with remote start). My concern was that the steering column etc., would ‘come out’ when the car started and then it would be more difficult to enter the car, but the owner showed me that he has his 1st memory setting with the wheel completely in and seat back so when the car starts the memory function goes to that setting; upon entering, he hits memory ‘2’ which is where he actually wants the steering column etc., easy way around my issue. I didn’t get the remote start because I really don’t want two remotes and the climate in central Indiana isn’t really bad enough to need remote start if you have a heated garage and a nice place to park at work.
  6. Welcome and congrats on your purchase! I have no doubt you will love your 350. I have a 2008 Starfire pearl w/gray interior - non-UL. What color interior will your car have(?); I have heard you can get black interior on the 2010 UL. I have gray and I am happy with it, but would love black. Cheers Matt
  7. Can we assume the car has more than 50,000 miles and is outside of its warranty?
  8. My seats get warm enough for me, but when friends/family ride in my car they sometimes say "Why aren’t your seats hot?" I know in my mother's Suburban the seats get hot in about 20 seconds. My seats get warm gradually and stay - just warm. They dealer said they were operating properly.
  9. I’m guessing SW is younger than you valve. Age and sagacity are not mutually exclusive.
  10. Congrats on the purchase of your 350. Folks might not be responding because they don’t understand your exact question (as I don’t). If you mean the 350 feels ‘rougher’ idling in the drive and/or reverse gears, that may just be due to the lower RPM’s you are experiencing in those gears, whereas in park the RPM’s are higher giving you a smoother engine feel. I am sure someone else could more eloquently explain this, but those are my thoughts on what I perceive to be your question. Cheers
  11. I have to laugh - "common rule in racing," and we are talking about a front-wheel drive ES350? Correct? Pretty much the antithesis of anything racing. Speaking of common rules, I will presume you are intending to use the word lose not loose as your use of the word loose is making your last few posts make even less sense. Cheers.
  12. I understand Lexus28. I was asking due to the last sentence in valve2004's post.
  13. Why would one need to brake and press the gas pedal at the same time? Please explain - I don't get it.
  14. I would be interested to hear what you end up purchasing. Keep us posted.
  15. Every time I see a 2010 I like them more and more. If they made a Starfire Pearl w/black interior I would buy it. :)
  16. If the bringing up of your ownership of a 1970’s era Mercedes is an effort to disprove my theory on the geriatric's love of door moldings – you might want to reexamine your argument. ;) The Benzo is sharp! That is back when they were built like tanks… and not Sebrings.
  17. That is such a sharp car! That color might be the choice for my next car; looks great. The door molding looked dreadful on the 07-09, just as they do on the 10. Sorry… ruins the whole deal for me – so unnatural looking (it screams "a geriatric drives this car" to me). The 2010 as a whole is really growing on me. Congrats again! (Now pull those damn moldings off!) ;)
  18. I finally broke down (after 20 months) and I am having my dealer put in satellite radio and the loaner car I have today (09 ES350) has the carpet mats and they are literally tied to the seats with plastic rings. They said Lexus will be coming out with a “fix” that is not related to the floor mats(?). I am with SW03ES, when I look at my all weather mats that are hooked in properly there is just no way they could get lodged under the accelerator. This whole thing has an air of ridiculousness about it to me. I simply find it hard to believe that a car would not shut off, the brakes did not work and throwing it in neutral would not have avoided the whole situation – if it was caused by the mats in the first place (all of this said while still having sympathy for the family(ies) involved).
  19. I would find the all weather mats somewhere and install them myself. They are a lifesaver; you need the 'real' Lexus all weather mats for such a nice car.
  20. Sounds like a gorgeous car to me. Congratulations!
  21. Having too much junk in the trunk is a big problem nowadays. ;)
  22. Well played nc211, well played. It almost felt odd that this sentence "But I have driven it's model year counterpart ES before, and felt that it was more nimble, easier to drive, and more car (due to being less car), if that makes sense?" made perfect sense to me, immediately. ;)
  23. I think saying I have ‘experience’ with both might be a stretch, but I have driven both. I have a 08 ES and have driven GS’s while my car was in for service. I remember consciously thinking I would never buy a GS because of: the extremely harsh ride, the high casing that runs through the interior due to it being rear wheel drive and the overall ‘cockpit’ feel of the driving position. I also like the smoothness associated with the ES only being front wheel drive as opposed to AWD (although AWD is a must in some northern states). A rear-wheel drive only GS would be out of the question. I also don’t like the looks of the GS, but that is entirely subjective. I would buy a G37(x) before I would buy a current GS; I might also consider a new Maxima before the GS. Sorry.
  24. Did you not test drive the car before purchasing? Short of a Lincoln Town Car, Mercury Grand Marquis or ?? I can't think of a car with a smoother more "floaty" ride. My friends jab me all the time because my car rides and handles like an "Oldsmobile of yore."
