  4. dudhi, My 97 ES300 makes the same noise, it has done this for 3 years now, no issues what-so-ever. I drive cars to their customers at work. I hear the noise in RX's, LS's ES's etc. It is caused by some part in the steering shaft that is a rubber seal, doesnt matter. The noise post, I have seen it on every lexus forum at least 3 times. No worries my friend. Where did you take the car?
  5. Cher what your problem is could be the ones you listed. How often do you flush your cooling system? the thermostat may be the issue, it is probably getting stuck. I have seen water pumps that have broken fins, the fins that pump the water can break off. Take it to a toyota or lexus dealer. Ask for a mechanic to help you, you may get a quick and straight answer there. good luck
  6. Okay I have a 97 ES300 all stock, black interior. I saw a 99 GS at work, the guy has these bright dark blue LED lights in the door panel and in the other light areas. I have the stock bulbs painted blue and it turns to green when lit. I want LEDS is there a site for these, i cant find one. please help. Can they plug into the original socket, do i need to modify the wires, do i need to change the power to the bulb?
  7. drill a hole into the sensor? lol kidding here
  8. there may be a spring that is broken, if not that maybe it is seized put a little WD-40 on all door parts. WD-40 your hood release assembly in the front too. they seize up
  9. xfactor70, good question to ask. The 18 inch wheels may bring an issue with the ES300, when wheels are bigger than they were made for, the following may occur... incorrect land speed, tires tearing on the wheel wells because of oversize. However though the RX wheels are much heavier than the ES300's wheels. there isnt low profile tires on the RX, making the wheel and tire combo to big for the ES in my opinion. 4 lug pattern is for small vehicles like a civic hatchback, 5 lug is for sedans and suv's like the RX. 6 lug is for the LX and GX sized vehicles your car has a 5 bolt pattern, ask a young mechanic at your dealership and ask what will fit without altering performance
  10. Hey guys I was out in my garage at 10pm to 1am working on my '97 ES300. I know my car pretty well. I grabbed my 10mm socket and removed the ignition components etc to prepare to access the camshaft and lobes etc. I removed the cover and I see what i see at work. Brown parts with a carbon appearance to them. I change my oil every 2500 miles or so(sorry mrburnickas) and I am satisfied with performace overall. I need a good additive to remove the build up from the oil etc that has settled or built up. I dont feel like toothbrushing it for 10 hours. Can anyone feed me a good brand for cleaning dirty engine parts. I would greatly appreciate the help.
  11. wow i havent had that problem yet. Hopefully you can find a cure for it.
  12. I have KYB's, they ride nice, are affordable, but make sure they have the electronic ride control if you have the feature that allows you to switch from sport to comfort.
  13. AMF is right, there is a black or whatever color it may be button that says push to cancel remote trunk access or something in that phrase i posted.
  14. So you have a leak in the oil filter gasket? I wonder if the guy who changed the filter and oil forget to lubricate the rubber gasket/seal. you must put a finger full of oil onto the gasket so it doesnt tear or leak when it is put back on. The gasket in the picture is most like a gasket that is fit inside a grove. The three bolt pattern most likely fits outside of the gasket. By the way we received a RX350 from McGrath lexus lol. Are you with the dealer or a customer?
  15. lol, most likely it would be an exhaust leak. A leak may be coming from a rusted out exhaust pipe. if it has a flex tube, it may be leking from a puncture you will see fraying wires. a good way to find a leak is to lay a saw dust or something similar on your garage floor and rev the engine up to like 2-4000 rpms for a few seconds , take a flash light to the floor and see where the saw dust isnt present. the leak will blow the dust away. An exhaust link to another pipes gasket may be rusted out or gone making it leak. My car has this issue. its like 1000 bucks for CC and flex pipe assembly if i am picturing it right.
  16. sounds like a battery issue, check the terminals on the battery and battery top for dirt and acid like crumbs on the top. Just for a tip since were talking batteries clean the top with baking soda and water, scrub top with a brush nix about 1/2 baking soda to 1 half or more gallons. Rinse of with a bucket of water. but you should go to a battery store or a auto parts store and run an alternator, battery load, D-tac or vat-40 test to further figure out your issue. As far as I know there is not much else i can say
  17. they are going to have to come out, use some plastic tools to try to remove it, metal is harder and will be more likely to break the plastic.
  18. SW03ES is absolutely right. the dealerships use other businesses for for body work. Our dealership uses Goff's auto body and glass, and ABRA body and glass. Two big companies who do fine jobs. We dont have body repair in our shop, but we sure can buff out scratches.
  19. my 1997 es300 doesnt have a cabin filter, but I am sue yours does have one. typicaly I think they are under the glove box, am i right?
  20. man there are a ton of water pumps i see in the garbage. they change them frequently
  21. Mark levinson sound systems don't impress me much, the bass isnt strong, and there is not enough of it. But Some car models like the GS sound good with their premium sound systems :) good bass.
  22. yeah and those peurto rican guys have corolla's that do a quarter mile in under 8 seconds!
  23. Woodbadger, you could also use a microfiber towel from the store. I agree with the other guys, we do use these though for the new car's we sell at the dealership. Used for drying and used for removing spray wax and polish/wax
  24. Add me as a friend Ben Foster BCHS
