  1. Thank you soul460L, The battery was only 2 years old so I didn't think it was the problem. I put it on charge and after a full night it lit some lights but really wasn't any better. Went and got a new battery, the car started right up and most of the lights went out. Still have VSC, Park, Brake lights on. Drove the car, nothing wrong with the brakes. I have an OBDII reader and light reseter but it says there are no lights needing reset. My plan is to drive the car the way it is and see if the lights reset on their own. If not I'll go to the stealer and get them reset for $50.
  2. My 2007 LS 460 is dead in the driveway. When my wife went to start it she put her foot on the brake and pushed the start button. A red light came on saying the park brake was unavailable. She called me and I started to check things out. About that time, it put out an annunciation saying Pull over, call the Dealer right away and a red brake light came on. I got out my OBDII reader and cancelled the lights. The car eventually started and drove normally with the 2 red lights and the Pull Over annuniated. The brakes were working fine. I shut down at home and disconnected the battery to see if a total reset might solve the issue. I disconnected the ground cable and left it for about 2 hours. Now the car will not start and there is a red Park light flashing and the light in the start switch is flashing rapidly. Nothing else will turn on or operate. The transmission shifter will come out of the park position without indication that the ignition is in the on position. I can't get the car to the dealer (Toyota) because the nearest Lexus dealer is about 200 miles away and it's Saturday with nothing to be done until Monday.
  3. I had the exact same issue. The check engine light was for a mixture problem with a fuel injector. I bought some fuel injector cleaner, dumped it in the tank and went for a drive on the highway. Light went out and I have been adding injector cleaner whenever the light came back.
  4. Water build up in the brake system is the major cause of caliper problems. The water starts rusting the steel pistons in some systems and the next thing you know, the caliper seizes. Most brake fluid is a very light color and if yours is dark, it is time to change it. Brake fluid is a lot cheaper than calipers and ABS systems. As already mentioned, brake fluid absorbs water by it's very nature and there is nothing you can do to prevent it. My guess is that most systems would not need new fluid until off warranty and that's why manufacturers don't put it in their maintenance rotation.
  5. Check engine light came on in my 2001 LS 430. Investigation found a small exhaust leak in the "Y" pipe behind the engine. Checked dealers for the best price on a "Y" pipe and found the best I could do was $963.00. Decided to see if some repair could be visited on the pipe. Found that the "heat shield" that encases the pipe after the O2 sensor doesn't have a clamp holding it firm at the forward end and the vibration of the "heat shield" against the exhaust pipe had worn a hole in the pipe. I found both sides of the "Y" pipe worn from the "heat shield". My solution, after welding the pipe, was to use a couple of gear clamps to hold the forward part of the "heat shield" from vibrating against the exhaust pipe. Two gear clamps sure beats $1000.00 Don
  6. Thanks for the info guys. I went to the Homelink site and downloaded the instructions. I now have Homelink on my 92 LS 400.
  7. I'm very impressed with the quality of info available on this site. I have 2 Lexus cars, 95 SC 400 and a 92 LS 400. These are the first Lexus autos I've been exposed to and I can't tell you how impressed I am with the cars. I recently bought 2 sun visors from Ebay supposedly for a 93 LS and the reason for buying them was for the built in garage door opener. It appears that installing them will be more of a task than I thought but more importantly I need info on programing the unit to my opener. Can anyone out there help with the info? Thanks
