  1. Eh cannot really think of much else that could cause you to not pass the smog. Course I live in TX, i know we are no where near as strict as yall are there. The needles in these cars just go bad man, along with the display for the AC, mine just doesnt light up nemore, and i have no needles cept for maybe a random flicker every now and then. Mine doesnt have trac control, so cant help you there either. Heater? check fuses, simple things first. Hope that helps a little
  2. About to swap a 1jz into my 92 lexus sc300. Does anyone have opinions on a stand alone for it? I know Apexi used to make one specifically for the 1jz, the Apexi Power FC, but they have stopped making it. Least thats what I read anyway. Need to know what I can go with here. Thanks!
  3. Yea I went to GS Motorsports in Dallas, Im down here in Tyler TX bout an hour from them. They have done several of these swaps before. It took me several weeks of digging to find a shop thats messed with them. Autobahn in Houston does them too but thats to far a drive for me. They can get the right motor I need for $1500 with the auto tranny, pressure test it replace gaskets and seals and put it in for $2500 and thats with fabbing the intercooler (front mount) and piping, but thats without tuning, thats just getting it to run. He also suggested a standalone system, so I wouldnt need all those parts I listed in my earlier post. He said with about 12 pounds of boost on the stock turbos he has seen the 1jz-gte put down 330hp at the wheels with a standalone and some tuning. Im not looking to blow doors off people, just have a fun daily driver. He said for about $5000 he would handle it all on top of polishing the manifold and prettying up the motor (aluminum radiator, etc). Im thinking of moving to a smaller Stinger battery too so I can run the intercooler piping down the extreme edges of the bay going down into the bumper. He said it makes it look really clean. The $5000 does not include the stand alone btw, id need to find one. Which leads me to my next question, which standalone system would be best for this little setup? I dont need anything drastic, but the tech said go for a standalone instead of a piggyback, that it would be much easier. Any suggestions on a standalone system?
  4. Using a breaker bar will get you where you need to be. And easy thing to do would be to go to lowes or somewhere similar and buy about a 3ft piece of steel pipe to slide over your wrench and give you more leverage. Id replace your whole tensioner pully assembly though if its acting up. You didnt really give me much detail. But once that tensioner pully starts squeaking REPLACE IT. I was stranded at a gas station with my belt shredded and intertwined with everything after the tensioner pully locked up. I ordered mine from lexus, $300. Just giving you a heads up!
  5. Im looking at swapping the 1jzgte into my 92 sc300. However I am having trouble finding one with a auto tranny that is non vvti. Is there much of a diff? Will the shop I take it to run into more problems with the vvti? Or if I get the ecu and everything for it should i be ok? Just throwing a question out there. Dont dog on me for stayin with a auto, cant afford the manual swap, Ill do it later. And any pointers on what to upgrade? MSD Tach Adaptor HKS Fuel Cut Defencer Greddy Speed Limiter Cut Controller Walbro Fuel Pump And I probably wont stay with the stock intercooler or piping Any advice would be appreciated!
  6. I have a nice two way pager alarm on my car. But ive added 4 extra sirens under my hood too lol good luck
  7. Getting the stock alarm to work after all these years is going to be more trouble then its worth. Id find a nice shop and put a simple alarm on it. I do this for a living lol normally shops have many different alarms at different price ranges. Find one that suits what you want/need.
  8. Hello everyone. I have a 92' Sc300 that I have kept in real nice shape since I have owned it for 2 years now. Car runs great. However, like most of us I am looking for a little more umph. I plan to buy a 2jz-gte out of a 94' Toyota Aristo. We all know the motor, I can get it off of Tiger Japanese with auto tranny for about $1700. I understand when I get the motor i should replace waterpump, timing belt, spark plugs and wires all that good stuff so I dont have to deal with it later, but is there anything else I need to keep in mind? Everyone I know says its a in and out swap, but does anyone know of maybe little things that are overlooked that need to be done? I should probably upgrade the driveshaft I know. Ive been a Honda guy forever so I can do Hondas all day but my dream car has always been this car with this swap. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I do apologize if this has been discussed before, I'm new to the forums and dont really want to go looking through thousands of pages lol Thank yall -Matt
  9. I have a 92' sc300 with 215,000 miles, runs smooth as butter. But about 2 months ago the climate control stopped working, I could push all the buttons and nothing will do nething, BUT the screen will still light up green, just nothing pops up on it and nothing blows out the vents or nething. I figured it was the unit so I got another unit, computer and all, put it in, and its the same problem. Lights up but nothing turns on. Even put the unit in a friends sc400 and it works. Any suggestions on what it could be? All fuses good. Any imput would be appreciated!
