  1. My 2007 GS 450h has 155000 miles and the battery is still going strong.
  2. I have the same problem on a 2011 600h. Checked the filters and they are installed properly.
  3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-GENUINE-LS460-LS600-LS600h-LS600hL-NON-SMOKERS-NON-SMOKERS-BOX-JAPAN-JP-/360656399454?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53f8cbec5e&vxp=mtr I'm a bit obtuse. Is this the item for which you are looking?
  4. Uhmmm. My 2011 has a power outlet in the center console and the outlet in the ash tray. Do you use a different power outlet or am I misinterpreting something?
  5. I have driven the GS450h since 2007. It has wonderful, quiet, straight line acceleration. Passing and entering freeways is a breeze with the instant torque available from the electric motor. I drive a GS 350 when I have my cars serviced. I would not consider buying one after having driven the hybrid. The GS 350 lacks the quickness and quietness to which I have become accustomed. One thing the GS 350 has that the GS 450h does not have is nice styling. For some reason the designers have scrapped the aggressive rear end of the GS/IS/ISF and made the 450h look like a TOYOTA AVALON. It may be part of the GS series but lacks the cool styling. The hybrid badges on the rear doors also look like an after thought and, as-near-as-I-can-tell, there is only one wood grain choice for the interior. The wood trim choices also look like they came out of a BMW. That's not a compliment.
  6. Perhaps you left a light on and drained the battery. No reason to take it back to the dealer. The battery would recharge after roadside assist boosted the battery. This happened to me as well and I just jumped from my other car (GS battery in trunk, left side). The battery recharges from the traction battery and have had no further problems in two years. What indication did you have that the battery was bad and not just drained from a slow discharge?
  7. Any one got an owners manual as PDf file ( 2004 SC430) . I just bought it over the weeked and it didn't come with an owners manual. Thanks, Go to Lexus.com. Lower left side is an "entry" for Owners. Click and enter. Follow directions to register. They have all the manuals as PDF. You can also order a manual online. At one time they were free for people like you. You can also purchase a complete set (manual, nav, maint. sched, leather case) at Lexus for about $30USD. Maybe eBay as well. But definitely online at Lexus.com
  8. I was in the same boat with just one key. I searched for a replacement on eBay but the difference of buying one there, finding someone to program and cut the key and having it done in one stop at my Lexus dealer did not justify the difference in price ($25). BTW, don't lose the one key you have; I had planned to just have a "dumb" key cut as a backup but the dealer said if I lose the master key the only option would be to replace the computer in the car to accept a new key. I took my car in, dealer used my master key to set the car to "teach" mode which then programmed my new smart key. For me, easier and not that much more expensive.
  9. I have a 2002; it's nice but I would go with newer model with warranty. I also bet it's less to insure. I could not figure out the difference in rates between an '02 and later models. Safety upgrades according to my insurance company.
  10. Thanks! Though I really don't drive aggressively.
  11. My wife drove my GS450 and inadvertently placed the PWR/Hybrid/Snow switch in PWR. I have used the snow position before but never PWR (It seems to have more than enough power). So, I have been pleasantly surprised to find an increase in both performance AND gas mileage (better than .5 mile per gallon or so). Anyone else use this setting and get similar results?
  12. I get BETTER mileage than advertised in my GS450 and the power is phenomenal! Luggage space can be a problem but it works for the three of us! I will buy another
  13. Try tirerack.com they have wheels and wheel/tire combos set up for all makes of cars. They ship quickly and have a preferred installer network with pre-established prices for installation. There are probably other national chains as well. Perhaps look locally for a matching deal. While people tint the front windows it is illegal in many jurisdictions as are windows that are too heavily tinted. Check locally; if non of that phases you skip the check locally and have at it. ;)
  14. Microfibre works well as do some antistatic rags that the dealership has left in my car. The detailing guys use them. Befriend one of those guys and see if they have a rag you can try.
  15. Have always been happy with Michelin. Try non-runflats. Sidewalls will not be quite as stiff. Check tirerack.com or some such for other ideas/combo wheels/ratings etc.
  16. Is there going to be a GX450h or is this a misprint and you meant GS450h? The GS450h rides better, IMHO, than the GS350/GS430/GS460 because it is a bit heavier. We get about two suitcases and a few other bags in the trunk which is definitely smaller than the other models listed. Otherwise, it is a dream machine.
  17. Have driven a low milage GS350 AWD loaner while my GS450 was in for repairs (squeaks). Mine has a much better ride but I agree with the person who is disappointed by the noise. Granted it is not my LS but still too much noise for a Lexus. That having been said, I'd purchase another GS450; they are just too powerful and fun to drive.
  18. Last ditch...take it to local upholstery shop, as I did, with a piece of headliner (purchase through Lexus or elsewhere) and have them redo visors
  19. Section 6-2 in my GS450 manual states: Your vehicle includes a variety of features...which can be customized. Programming requires special equipment...performed by a Lexus dealer. It further states that all doors unlocking when shifting to park is the DEFAULT setting. Check your manual and decide what you want. Dealers will do all of them once, free, during the first year I believe. However, if your dealership is like mine they would probably do it anytime.
  20. Check your owners manual. I thnk that's where the instructions were for my GS450. All doors unlock when shifting into park. Otherwise, it may be one of those owner options that Lexus can set for you.
  21. Are you sure we are taliking the same switch? This 5 or 6 step procedure worked on my GS450 w/ Nav and is lifted right out of the Lexus manual. There should be an odometer reset in the door to the left of the steering column.
  22. Just replaced OEM Dulops on my 2002 LS430. Never again will I run Dunlops. Unfortunately, they are also standard on my GS450. I have never had trouble with Michelins (why are they on my GX470?) and they generally run 45-50000 miles so I was surprised when the Dunlops crapped out at about 30000! Michelin Primacy MXV4 was a recommended option on TireRack.com. The ride is smooth and quiet and I could not be happier.
  23. The GS450h manual says essentially the same thing...
  24. OK I have a bit to learn about posting; sorry! I think this hack it too complicated! Unless you have seen it in writing forget the door open/close thing, and parking brakes and voodoo witchcraft. While I drive a GS I really don't think the models are programmed that differently. I have turned my seatbelt chime off several times (dealership had to unhook aux battery which restores factory settings to everything). I tried this forum's method and it didn't work. Called local Lexus (my mechanic buddy was off and nobody there knew you could even to this!) so today I went up and borrowed the GS450h manual. Here it is from the horse's mouth (the power of h). BUZZER REMINDER CANCEL MODE SETTING -Set multi-information displa on the combination meter to the ODO display mode -Press and hold the ODO/TRIP switch for 10 seconds WITHIN 6 SECONDS OF SELECTING the power source mode to "IG-ON" Then, buckle the seat belt and the system enters the buzzer reminder cancel mode setting. --If driver seat belt fastened: system changes to driver AND front passenger cancel mode. --If passenger seat belt fastened: system changes to passenger cancel mode. -When system enters cancel mode, it will appear on the multi-information display and driver can "toggle" between on and off with the ODO/TRIP button. My own comment: The multi-display is in the speedometer housing. There is a top and a bottom. The bottom is the odometer. To clear the top use the "DISP" switch on the right fork of the steering wheel. Good luck.
