  1. I got the same issue really on my gs 300 03. Wondering how to program it to unlock.
  2. Hello, I am considering purchasing an Apexi Neo piggy back computer to control the air fuel ratio. I noticed my MPG rate has decreased significantly in the past three weeks that I have owned it. Has anyone installed a piggy back on the GS before? How were the results?
  3. I just got 20's all around and I love it. With a good film, everything is visible from the inside yet dark from the out.
  4. Hey I also got the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S from this thread. I put them on a few days ago and it snowed. These tires are great. Yes they are a bit rougher and have give off noise, but man do they stick. The snow outside is forming into ice and while many struggle, these tires didnt slip. Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S all the way!
  5. Heres the thing guys, When figuring out why people have a certain gas mileage, its best to compare with people who live in the same area. When comparing someone who lives in new york city in which there is a traffic light on every block and the average block is much smaller than one you would find in smaller cities. Hence the go and stop is much more frequent and although we are not producing a MPG in the range of the people that claim to be getting, for NYC it is enough. Another factor is that NYC is quite small and that our destinations are much shorter. My average trip is about 5 miles before I turn the ignition off on my GS. That means that each time I wait for the car to warm up a little bit, I am wasting my gas mileage. So, I think that when a GS is getting over 200 miles driving around in a populated city, there is nothing wrong with that car. When you end up taking it on the highway and get 400+ miles to the tank, you definitely know that theres nothing wrong with your GS.
  6. Every gas station in NYC uses 10% ethanol in the mixture, which suggests that they all use "gasohol". Could be the reason why NY people are complaining about their MPG.
  7. I am in NYC and the highest octane gas that can be bought here is 93. Would you recommend purchasing octane booster and pouring it into the tank then filling up? I am getting on avg 12 mpg in the city and I do not drive aggressive.
  8. It's from Brooklyn, says it all... Brooklyn miles = 2x normal miles. Btw I bought the car. Had a professional look at it. The car has all original parts, no bando. The gap exists from a slight fender bender in which the trunk was repainted. The car drives amazingly.
  9. I agree, the all black sounds really nice. I am thinking of getting it, it is a 2003 and my mechanic looked at it. Said yes it was hit but no damage to under body so its probably a side swipe to the rear quarter panel. Still going to think about it. I am really happy to be on a better forum though, maxima.org had to many retarded people, the people on the this forum seem more mature by the posts that I read. :)
  10. Hello, I have been shopping for a GS 300 for the past few weeks. I came across one on eBay that I really liked, found the guy selling it and met up with him to check it out. The car looks very good except a few minor things: There is a gap on one side of the trunk, its as if the trunk lid is not sitting at OEM spec. the gap on the right is the size of the fingernail. It closes and opens with ease. The dealer claims that it was probably hit while parked, the rear bumper appears to be pained. I checked as much as I could and it appeared that there was all factory paint in the rear around the trunk area. Another issue was that on the hood, it appeared that it would sit slightly closer to the right headlight then to the left, the rubber surrounding one of the middle lights is not visible when the hood is down. The price is great. He wants 12,300. Carfax shows 1 owner and never in an accident. Taking it to the mechanic today. Drives good, smells new, but it has 97k miles. The problems I found were minor, the hood appeared to be original, it has minor rock chips that mostly came from a few years of highway driving. I just think that the bumpers were removed to get repainted and not put on to original spec. Here is the link to the eBay site: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GS-300_W0QQ...tem200193445007 I did the car fax buy back guarantee thing already and just want to bring it to the mechanic. So what do you guys think? For 12,300 I dont think I can go wrong unless the mechanic says that it was in an accident or that there are some mechanical issues.
  11. Wont O2 simulators destroy gas mileage. Thats why the sensors are there, to adjust the gas air ratio. Once I did this on my maxima, my mpg went from 15-20 all the way to 9-10. Wont it be easier to find a junk yard with a low mile GS and buy the headers with the cats?
  12. Those are such minor issues compared to what Nissan Maximas have or other poorly "engineered" japenese cars have. On my 2000 Nissan Maxima, there was not a single part that didn't need to get changed during the time I owned it. Defective ignition coils, bad O2 sensors, engines burning away quarts of oil, gas mileage of single digits. I bought it in 2003 with 80k miles coming out of NJ by a female driver. I am glad I got rid of my maxima and I am planning on only getting a Lexus.
