  1. think you could do mine as well. Ive always been curious. 91 ls400 JT8UF11E0M0072935
  2. Me=service tech, not a Lexus tech. but auto tech the same. I have the same sound from my 91 ls. It happens when i turn the wheel at certain times. it happens when i back up. it does everything you said yours does. The catch, i know exactly what it is, im just to lazy after working on other cars at the end of the day to work on my own. The cause, Anti Rattle clips. They go on your brakes. I did a brakejob on mine, and forgot to put the left side back on. they are sitting on my toolbox right now. you should hear a rattle when you go over bumps, like railroad tracks. then go over them again with the brakes slightly depressed and you shouldnt hear the rattle. that test should verify its the Antirattle clips. they are pretty cheap. This is just an educated answer, I cant tell you for sure without looking at it myself. But i think its a good bet at this point. Just check into it. Im interested to hear what your final solution is going to be. Good luck!
  3. Yea, i realized that. so i didnt put up the pics. it seemed like everyone was having trouble finding the tsb tho.
  4. go here. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/EFI/
  5. Mine does exactly the same. Ill deal with it when it goes out. for now i dont really care.
  6. Ive tried it out on chryslers, fords, hondas, Vw's, and so on. Yet to try it on the lexus. Some of the other techs in the shop have used it on the lexus. I will ask them about the specific area your talking about tomarrow.
  7. Yeah I know what your talking about to. Ive tried it, and it works as well. The compressed air is the stuff you use to clean computer keyboards with. turn the can upside down and you can freeze things. The reason i listed the dry ice method is, They both work well, but if you have more than one ding. it takes several arosol cans to do the job that one chunk of dry ice can do. Those cans are expensive as well, you dont want to have to buy 10 of those to do 12 dents. But if you have only one dent, then the arosol is a bit more convienient. Just try both or whichever, and stick with what works best for you.

Previous versions of this TSIB should be discarded. Introduction If a creak, tick, or rattle noise is heard at the top or bottom of the windshield, the source of the noise may be the two windshield stoppers bonded to the top of the windshield or the windshield retainers bonded to the lower edge of the windshield. This bulletin provides the recommended repair procedure to eliminate these types of noises from the windshield area. NOTE :Some vehicles have both stoppers and retainers while others may only have stoppers at the top of the windshield. Use the chart in this bulletin to determine the location of the windshield holding devices. Applicable Vehicles ^ 2003 - 2007 model year Lexus vehicles. Image1 Required Tools & Material Image2 Warranty Information Applicable Warranty*: This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date. * Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint. Image3 Required SSTs Image4 Pin Locations Repair Procedure Upper Windshield Glass Stoppers: 1. Remove both sun visors and both A-pillar garnishes, and then carefully lower the front of the headliner to gain access to the windshield stoppers (refer to the appropriate model year Repair Manual for the proper procedure). NOTE :It is very important that the front of the headliner be lowered carefully and slowly. Applying too much downward force on the headliner will cause it to develop a permanent crease in the surface material. The stoppers are located on the inside of the passenger compartment behind the windshield glass blackout section (near the top front edge of the metal roof opening). The stoppers are typically located 20 - 25 cm (7.9 - 9.8 in.) inboard of the top corners of the windshield glass. Image5 2. Cut OFF the tip of the plastic stopper as shown in the illustration. HINT: It is sometimes necessary to bend the metal body tab down to gain access to the shaft of the stopper. Image6 3. Once the tip of the stopper has been removed, use a screwdriver to open a gap between the roof panel and the remainder of the plastic windshield stopper. 4. Test drive vehicle prior to reassembly to confirm that the noise has been eliminated. 5. Reassemble the vehicle. Lower Windshield Retainers: image7 1. Carefully remove the plastic cowl cover at the base of the windshield and store it in a safe location for reinstallation later (refer to the appropriate model year Repair Manual for the proper procedure). Image8 2. Locate the lower windshield retainers. The retainers are typically located 140 - 200 mm (5.5 - 7.9 in.) inboard of the lower corners of the windshield. The flat portion of the retainer is adhered to the backside of the windshield with double-sided, foam-backed tape. Image9 3. Use a "Mini" Hacksaw with a fine tooth 10-inch blade to cut OFF the pin portion of the glass retainer flush with the flat portion of the windshield retainer (diagram below shows the windshield retainer location to cut off the plastic pin). 4. Test drive the vehicle to confirm the elimination of the noise. 5. Reassemble the vehicle. I Will post all images later tonight
  9. Chrysler Vehicles scratch easy aswell. The dashes look hard, but you can push on them with your fingernail and leave a mark. So when we replace radios in new vehicles, they tend to magically get scratched. The soulution. A heat Gun. Trick of the trade. Heat it up and the white scratch mark dissapears. Be carful. Get it to hot and it melts leaving a melted plastic puddle look. The key is to get it warm enough for the plastic to get soft and dry in a way that sort of re coats itself. Alot of new techs heat it to long and have to replace the dash anyway. So if your heating it up, and it looks like its almost done, then stop. because it is. If your heating it up and it looks like you just got it perfect, the im sorry you melted it.
  10. Yeah, the dry Ice. It works. It works good. Takes practice though. Copy And Paste. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6AZoN0c6lI...feature=related Warning! Dry Ice Will Burn You. Wear Gloves, And Safty Glasses. It would Hurt If a Chunk Of It Hit Your Eye. Also dont do it if the paint is hot from sitting in the sun. Could cause the paint to crack(on older cars). best time to do it is after the car has been sitting in about 80-90 degree shade. It works great on hail dings. if you ever get hail damage, go and claim your insurance. Then tell them you want to do the repair, some states you can do this. Then they give you like a 2thousand dollar check cause thats what they estimate the damage. then get dry ice and fix it yourself for cheap. and come out a bit ahead. I used to hear of people doing it all the time when i worked for state farm insurance.
  11. What wires are you useing? I just put new plugs and wires in a month ago but im using all stock ones. I did notice a huge improvement in them from that though. since my old wires were dated 1991. The Plugs were factory plugs, and it had no service history in the dealer computer of ever having a tune up. sad. I think the biggest improvement ive noticed was my Intake i built a few nights ago. Im only getting 26mpg though. and my tires are at 50psi. I will check out those NGK's and clean my threads as well.
  12. ive seen you guys complaining about this sound from your front windshields. so i logged into my dealership account while i was at work today and looked for the problem when i didnt have any cars to work on. anyways heres what i found. Hope it helps. 2006 Lexus IS 350 V6-3.5L (2GR-FSE) Vehicle Level Technical Service Bulletins All Technical Service Bulletins Body - Upper/Lower Windshield Ticking Noise Body - Upper/Lower Windshield Ticking Noise Notes NVH NV005-06 REVISED Title: UPPER/LOWER WINDSHIELD TICK NOISE Models: '03 - '07 Lexus September 18, 2006 TSIB REVISION NOTICE :December 7, 2006: The GS 350 and LS 460 has been added to the Pin Locations table. If you guys need anything else looked up, let me know. I dont work on lexus, but we sell and work on them at my work. I unfortunatly ended up on the dodge side of things, and have to deal with them all day.
  13. By the way krissy Im not trying to be a jackass or anything. So if i am. then im sorry. Do us all a favor. Wear your seat belt.
  14. Since i noticed that the recall she linked to only showed her car. I logged onto my dealership account and pulled up the recall. It applys to more than just her model. Notice that 133 units are affected. and not even the main airbag is listed as the problem. Now spread that over the differnt models. thats about 15 for each model. So Those are some pretty far out there odds. but more than anything i attached pictures of the recall that the dealerships get. No look under consequences. She should feel real good that she walked away not wearing her seatbelt. And to say that she dosnt feel safe anymore. Where was your seat belt. You felt so safe with out it? It upsets me that she would complain so much about her safty yet she fails to wear a seat belt. And The fact that lexus had a recall with only 133 units affected. that makes me glad i drive a lexus. Allthough i work for a lexus dealer, i work on dodges because we sell them aswell. And dodge's last airbag recall had 144,000 units affected. Id take 133 over 144,000 anyday. Dont get me wrong i am proud that she found a recall showing problems with the airbags(even if they are the wrong ones). congratulations. Every car manufacture has had problems with airbags. so you should probably not drive anycars at all. because they arnt safe. Oh and sunblock, it dosnt block out all the suns rays. so you better not go outside either. Its not safe. And nither is air. so many toxins in the air. None of us should breath. Life is full of dangers, and problems. Be happy you walked away.
