  1. that sucks......i know this wont probably be your solution but check and make sure the alternator pulley isnt "warped" i had one that had a fubar'ed hole and when the shaft would spin it would slip because it wasnt drilled right. so you checked alternator and battery?
  2. umm its called a mode, temperature servo, also have a air recirculation servo and a drivers side temperature heater. but im not sure this is his problem exaclty since the OP hasnt been back for your problem..... maybe you should check out my DIY on replacing them.... http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...99&hl=servo i still think the grease is a temp solution (which i have tried, but prefer just to swap them)
  3. nah i just left the green condom off....i tried it with it on and then decided i liked it better without it! hahaha i didnt even notice i could get to the indicator bulbs from the bottom.... ty...i guess i can put that in the DIY. yeah i knew bulbs werent exactly the same but i talked to v-led whom i ordered from an they said it should be a problem! well ty and thanks for noticing my error i will make a note back into the DIY for others that way no1 breaks there switches.... i knew i shoulda deleted my last name from those bags or marked through them. oh well no biggie...your welcome. as long as one other person finds it helpful, i guess it was useful. oh what proxy sensor u having problems with....?
  4. ouch....starter is a PITA on that model i think....but yeah thats what it sounds like you got wrong...can have it rebuilt or buy a new one. gl
  5. do u have a interior light on? this is sounds like a door actuator but something seems funny bout it...maybes its just the wording? try these 2 pages http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=43868 http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...uators-diy.html plenty of others on both pages, these should get u started
  6. here is the link he was referring to.... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...uators-diy.html
  7. all switches with heaters lite up AS A BONUS I DID THE TRANNY INDICATOR BULB WHILE I WAS IN THERE SINCE IT SEEMED DULL THE DIY IS BELOW the bulb # is a 74. i ordered it from www.v-leds.com use the code club lexus for 15% discount. this is the bulb i used http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481 ****RIGHT NOW THEY ARE OUTTA STOCK ON THAT BULB WHICH IS WHY THE LINK DOESNT WORK.....U CAN USE THIS AS A REPLACEMENT http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/Product...sid/0/SFV/32481 gear indicator step 1:this is what you should see since you already have the console removed step 2:carefully take a flathead and pry this bracket up CAREFULLY step 3:carefully take a flathead and pry this bracket up CAREFULLY step 4:carefully take a flathead and pry this bracket up CAREFULLY step 5:carefully take a flathead and pry this bracket up CAREFULLY step 6:bulb is in the housing to the left of the shifter with the green cover on it step 7: just put bulb in, i chose to leave the green cover off for more light, reattach shifter console and put everything back together again (as u can tell the light is bright its shining out the side of the shifter)
  8. heater switches when on bulbs: these are the 2 bulbs that come on when you switch the heaters on 15th step: place metal brackets from step 12 back in JUST LIKE THIS OR YOUR SWITCHES WONT CLICK AND YOU'LL HAVE TO TAKE THEM APART AGAIN 16th step: again slide a small flathead in and lightly pry under bar holding switch in until you can partly slide it up so it bracket holding it in is not quite inside the holder anymore (flip over and do same to other side then switch will slide out) 17th step:Power/Snow switch removed 18th step: phillips head 19th step:just unscrew bulb 20th step: bulb removed 21st step: bulb housing power/snow switch bulb i just replaced the bulbs as i went. reinstall in reverse order guys all switches lite up now
  9. 7th step:slide a flathead under here and CAREFULLY pry tab up so you can pop the bar under the tab so its not quite sitting in there right (i only took photo of this side but its obvious there are 2 tabs on each side) switch will slide out after doing both sides 8th step:slide a flathead under here and CAREFULLY pry tab up so you can pop the bar under the tab so its not quite sitting in there right (i only took photo of this side but its obvious there are 2 tabs on each side) switch will slide out after doing both sides bulb for heater switch 9th step: remove bulb, makes the next step easier to do (phillips head) ***** ok guys its been brought to my attention something rather silly i somehow seemed to have missed (thank you GuyTelefunken), apparantally you can skip steps 10-15. if you look at steps 13-14, you can see (gain access to) the illumination bulbs (when you turn the heat on/off) and you can just pull them out with a pair of needlenose pliers. not sure how i overlooked this but i did! so u see you can skip 10-15 and just simplify it by pulling the bulbs out the bottom!***** 10th step: now with the switch out slide a flathead under here and CAREFULLY pry tab up so you can pop the bar under the tab so its not quite sitting in there right (you can see how much this one flexes but still be careful) switch will slide out now from itself 11th step: now when you take this apart it will fall down and 2 metal brackets will come out (they are pictured in step 12) 12th step: save these and i'll show you how to put back in right (if not heaters wont click and they wont come on....i found out the hard way lol) 13th step: the bulbs that illuminate when you turn the heaters are housed in here....they simply press out next pic shows better view 14th step: you can see i have one bulb out and one bulb in just for reference. they literally just push downwards and come out
  10. ok so i just got tired of looking at my burned out bulbs on my center console so i decided to buy all the bulbs since i didnt wanna have to open the center console back up to change another a week later if it burned out. got all bulbs from sewell all prices are with "clublexus" code. i had a spare set i practiced on so i knew what i was doing which is why in some pics you'll see extra switches in background be careful doing this so you dont crack the plastic housing. you will need a small screwdriver set or a jewelers set (makes it easier). hope this helps guys Power/Snow Bulb # 8499910710 Quantity 1 Price $7.33 Heated Seats Bulb (backlight) # 9001001026 Quantity 1 Price $4.46 Heated Seats Bulb (when on) #8499910130 Quantity 2 Price $7.30 (each) Traction Bulb # 9001001039 Quantity 1 Price $3.55 First off you have to remove the center console....i didnt make pics of this step as i followed a older post http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...bezel-ring.html just some pics with console out showing the console switches the panel with switches (held in by 4 phillips head screws) the panel without switches (i put screw back in so i didnt lose them) ok 1st step: after removing console and unscrewing bracket that holds switches. i started with the VSC switch and worked to the left lightly pry under bar holding switch in until you can partly slide it up so it bracket holding it in is not quite inside the holder anymore 2nd step: flip over and do the same to other side. switch should slide out now 3rd step: switch removed 4th step: white circle is the bulb, takes either a phillips head or a small flathead 5th step: unscrew bulb 6th step: bulb removed vsc switch bulb: comes with green cover and all
  11. isnt that a vacuum line u put the oil breather on? was this intake designed for YOUR year/model exactly? is that a obx intake or just a universal intake with a obc air filter on it?
  12. u sure? he said he didn't have this noise till AFTER he jump started the car. so since he owned the car before and it didnt do it i would think otherwise....maybe he could record the noise or make a video and load it on here so we all can see!
  13. your welcome and goodluck
  14. nothing....i just ignore it. lol. ..but i tried almost everything! nah with new ball joints, new tires, and alignment mines almost completely gone check this topic out look at post # 4 and it has some helpful links http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=55330
  15. um out of the box the gs has good brakes for daily use for 90% of all gs owners. so i just went with a tad more stopping power up front and the oem ones out back! it is WELL more than i need on the streets. im sorry i was ALWAYS under the understanding that oems were ceramic, either way ceramic is a better pad bbk is a BIG BRAKE KIT....supra front is a semi upgrade for the front brakes in between doing a complete BBK here is a example of the BBK front http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=504 rear http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=505 http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=503 https://www.wesellcarparts.com/store/script...?idproduct=3027 http://www.superiorkustoms.com/p101612/Lex...oduct_info.html http://www.momentumgt.com/brembo-gran-turi...exus-p-375.html http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/partdetail...on_-_Front/6261 supra fronts http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=1474 Trd kid (Which is the supra fronts just relabled) http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=661 i change the brake line for 2 reasons one as a precuation in case ne of the rubber is swelling after 8 years (my old es300 had a brake line pop while i was driving n left me with no back brakes) and two if u add steel braided you get a much better brake pedal feel
  16. thanks for the site and all the info- it was alotta help. my MAIN goal is to stop the vibration of the steering wheel when I'm going about 60-80mph.(i know a lot of people with this car have that problem.) what I also want is a more stable ride going from 80-100mph, and to 'tighten up' the suspension all together, while still keeping a somewhat comfortable ride. that TRD GS Sportivo looks pretty good, and is in the price range of what I'm willing to spend. the cost of labor might be a killer though. I wonder how hard it'd be to do on my own/ heres some link that might help with the shaking http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ering+tensioner http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ering+tensioner http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ering+tensioner http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...mp;#entry345931 http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...searched-8.html http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...ines-fixed.html
  17. Did you check for mice? :D stop it. now u r antagonizing! lol... to the OP my name is brian and no u didnt offend me or bother me. i dont normally get on during the weekend as i normally try and play catch up on everything im behind on! good luck. let us know what u find out
  18. cool. post the pics. the hids could be factory. i think they were a dealer option in 99
  19. i have a 2001 gs430 and have not registered if that will help u? i still have my oem manuals so i never registered.... let me know if u want me too.... u get rid of the others? congrats on purchase....pics?
  20. not necessarily. i went with rotora rotors and some hawks pads, synthetic fluid and some g-stop brake lines all the way around (rears are oem factory pads/ oem factory rotors).....was just a personal choice. didnt matter to me what they were made out of, was for stopping power for my choice. if i ever get some extra $$ i'll do a bbk front and rear or a supra front . if u do oem rotors or oem style rotors use the ceramic like they tell you to. if u just driving on street some aftermarket pads/rotors are fine and do the brake lines while your at in in my opinion. i still feel hung over from this last weekend so i dunno if im making sense to you
  21. that seems way to much. shop around get some estimates from others. or do like i do. shop around buy cheapest parts and have them put on. so all i normally pay is labor
  22. nething on the airbag system i typically let the dealer do as i dont like messing with airbags....thats just my $0.02 but if you wanting to mess with it. my buddy did his on his IS and these are the links he said he used http://www.bahamutcars.com/workshop/IS_98-...e/m_di_0337.pdf http://my.is/forums/f115/code-32-abs-light-273320/ good luck. my suggestion is to take it to dealer and see what they say! airbags just one thing i wont mess with
  23. i didnt notice u said ONLY when the car accelerates. then no its not them. but im not jokin or kidding.....mice/rats in our cabin air filters and intake manifolds/engine bays has been a problem. im 100% serious! especially if u live outside the city http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...n-the-dash.html http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...-me-2200-a.html http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...-dirty-rat.html http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...-hate-rats.html http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...art-update.html http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...e-very-low.html http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-...e-dealer-2.html so no. i wasnt jokin.
