  1. With nearly 13,000 miles on my 2010 IS 250 C, I've averaged a carefully measured 28.2 Miles per U.S. Gallon (33.9 Miles per Imperial Gallon: 8.4 L per 100 km. A lot of this was freeway trips with many rural drives and a few months of Sarasota, FL traffic. Driving at 60 mph gives about 33 Miles per U.S. Gallon and city driving averages in the low 20's.
  2. I'm very happy with our 2010 IS 250 C. It's peppy enough for most passing situations. Over 6,000 miles it's averaging 28.7 miles per U.S. gallon. The ride is solid but comfortable enough for long trips. The brakes are good and the noise level is very low top up.
  3. At last count I have over 6,000 miles on a red 2010 IS 250 C with white interior. It's remarkably quiet with the top up and seems to carry along a nice "bubble" of air with the top down i.e. little wind buffeting. After 23 careful fillups, it's averaging 28.7 miles per U.S. gallon ranging from a low of 23.8 in heavy traffic to 34.1 on the freeway. My likes are the excellent paint job, good handling without being too stiff, good brakes, decent top-up trunk space. Dislikes are minor: the clock should be mounted higher so it's not obscured by the driver's right arm; the outside temperature and driver/passenger heat/AC temperatures should be visible at all times. And please simplify the heater A/C back to the good old turning knobs so attention doesn't have to be turned to the ceentral screen!
  4. The "plumbing" around the air filter box looks a bit complex. Does anyone have any hints on how to replace the air filter element?
  5. I've changed the oil twice on a 2008 ES 350. It requires ramps to do it comfortably, and the new type of oil filter can be messy to change, but there are excellent photos elsewhere on this site showing how to handle the filter. After consulting with two Lexus service people (to ensure that there would be no heating problems or other air-flow problems), I removed the engine covers. They may look nice, but I'd rather see an oil leak etc. rather than have it hidden under a cover.
  6. I have over 6,500 miles on a 2008 ES 350 and have no complaints at all. At one point in the first few hundred miles, in heavy stop-and-go traffic there was a bit of searching for gears, but that seems to have cured itself with time. There are no squeaks from the dashboard, the carefully measured overall gas mileage is 26.3 miles per U.S. gallon (averaging 20.7 in urban driving and 32.6 on Interstate) and it is a great highway cruiser.
  7. Thanks for the suggestion Alan, but the moonroof was definitely closed. When I contacted the local Lexus dealer, they'd never heard of the problem. However after two or three start/stop cycles, the "gremlin" seems to have disappeared. There is a slim chance that the beeps had something to do with the "oil change due" warning since the odometer had just rolled over 8,000 km/5,000 miles. I had changed the oil myself at 5,000 km but not reset the warning system. Will post agin if the beeps return.
  8. With no sign of a warning light being illuminated on the instrument panel, my 2008 ES 350 has been beeping four beeps from the driver's door at exactly five minute intervals while driving. Seatbelts were fastened, and no doors, trunk or hood were unlatched or open. Any idea of the cause?
