  1. Its been awhile since I've seen this topic covered, and I apologize for repeating again , but I have an OEM NAV display thats faded pretty bad , can't see the any of the controls . I've seen threads that say the LCD's can be replaced to bringiti back to life , etc .... Does anyone know if thats still an option ? Does anyone know of someone that might have a working OEM unit I can purchase ? Does anyone know if there's a current Panasonic / Mark Levinson replacement unit ? Any assistance wold be appreciated . I would like to get it working again . After all, it does have 435K miles on it , just broken in . :OP Thanks - Joey
  2. I'm looking to replace the upper control arms on my '99 GS 400, and I would like to know if its easy enough for me to do it myself. If so, can someone shed some light on the process / instructions? I would greatly appreciate the help. I can also be reached at: spaseman.spiff@yahoo.com, should someone want to contact me. Please be sure to put something I would recognize in the subject line so i don't delete it from my junk folder if it goes there. Thanks. - Joey
  3. I agree with SRK, as my GS4 also came from the factory with turmoline 17" rims (or whatever they're called) and Bridgestone tires. I have since had Dunlop, Michelins, Kumho's, Toyo's, and Hankooks. All nice tires, all ride well. I really like the Michelins, but a little pricey for me. The Kumho's were a good all-weather tire, and lasted about 30K miles. I have Hankooks on it now, rides really, really nice, and they're not too expensive. (approx $125.00/tire) Good luck.............. Spaseman
  4. Stain - I lowered my 99 GS4, put some H&K coils on it, and put some Bilstein sport shocks on it. One of the best moves I did. I went from the standard 17" tires to the 18" with no problem. I do know a kat that did the same, only went to 19" tires. He required rotor / caliper suspension mods to get the rims and tires to fit. If you get the 20's to fit, would like to see a picture when you get it done. Good luck....... Spaseman
  5. Going from a 16" tire to an 18" tire is quite a jump, but not impossible. Since they're factory Lexus tires, and if the bolt pattern matches, I don't see an issue, however, you want to be sure you don't need any additional changes to your axle's, i.e., rotor changes or caliper changes. I know some after market rims require mods for clearance. Double check with Lexus, they should be able to let you know if they cross match......
  6. Can anyone recommend a reliable certified Lexus mechanic in the Atlanta, Georgia area? Thanks.
  7. This post is in multi-part questions: 1.) How do I replace the halogen bulb (headlight) on my 1999/2000 GS400? Is there a manual that will show me how to do the replacement myself? 2.) The dealer wants to charge me $350.00 for the halogen headlight bulb. The local parts store charged me $12.00 for the bulb. Did I get the correct bulb, or am I missing something? Again, is there a manual that will show me how to do the replacement myself? 3.) How do I replace the hood latch and cable on my 1999/2000 GS400? Manual?? Is it worth it for me to take my car into a certified mechanic or a dealer to have these repairs done? Thanks !! - Spaseman
