Any advice or ideas on how to check antenna cable -- short of taking to dealer.

I have exactly the same problem with my 99 RX 300. The FM sounds fine - but the AM on virtually every station is just static. Did you get anywhere with it ? I took to dealer a few times and they talked about some antenna cable or isolator that would cost big dollars.

I have 99 RX 300 with 6 cd changer and am/fm. The FM radio reception is fine - but the AM radio reception is dreadful -- static any time go near any metallic structure. Any ideas for a quick fix. Replacing the radio with Lexus dealer will cost many many dollars.
