  1. Those lights mean the entire ABS system is toast.....people note repair / replacement is about a $2000-$3000 job. You have to replace the entire master cylinder or brake booster. Lxus quotes roughly $1300 parts and $1200 labor. I just had it happen to my 2000 GS300 but it hasn't triggered the lights in about a month..... My lexus seems to repair itself on its own....lol thats why I love my GS like a child. People have been noting that this problem occurs on most 98-00 GS's around 100k mileage. Seems to me that lexus should have issued a recall since it is part of the safety of the vehicle needing ABS. Basically when the lights are on, your brake function is normal just no ABS or vehicle stability control....
  2. Maybe someone will be able to diagnose my ABS issue at the meet!?!?! Also interested in a NA-T conversion in the near future......anyone a member of club NA-T or have knowledge on the conversion?
  3. Im located in SC just a few miles north of savannah. It would be 110 miles drive but if turnout is going to be big I am willing to make the drive. Keep me up to day and may just need the address to put in the navigation unit to determine how much time it will take me to get there. I just moved here from PA where the Lexus Love is lacking. Hoping it was going to be different down here! lol Keep me updated as thing develop. 2000 GS300
  4. I am having the same exact problem with my ABS/VSC system currently. All aspects of my 2000 Lexus GS300 function perfectly with the exception of that ear piercing siren of the ABS system alarm. My main goal is to stop the noise and I am contacting you in hopes you may have the solution or could contact/direct me to someone who may detail how to cut the alarm noise. The car runs, stops, operates like new. However the alarm will not go off. The owners manual notes warning alarm may sound for 10 mins before going off. Well upon making the trip from my new residence in South CArolina up to my hometown in Central PA had no problems. The day prior to my return back down south the ABS system went bad. I have spoken with a Toyota Tech when it first malfunctioned and was told that brake system is designed to function independently from the ABS "feature". Therefore it is no danger to operate the vehicle as normal.....expect the fear of losing my mental stability and or hearing due to the BLASTED NOISE! Is it possible to remove the ABS fuse or disconnect something to stop the sound until I have the opportunity to have it repaired. Obviously expensive part and install therefore it may be a few weeks until I am able to have it repaired. I you would be so kind as to drop me a message with any aid you may have to give, it would be greatly appreciated

  6. Prior to moving to South Carolina, I resided in NE Pennsylvania.....No matter if the weather is RAIN/SNOW/SLEET/ or HAIL when leaving the bar in a tinted vehicle, windows go down. This often lead to cold and wet environment but eliminated majority of the risk factor. In my 8 years of driving, every vehicle I ever owned was fully tinted. I have been stopped roughly 18 times, only received 2 FIX IT tickets. Both of which I did not remove the tint and appear for inspection as requested. I somehow got away with the first one, must have misplaced the paperwork. Second one I received a ticket by mail 2 months later for $93.50. I weighed my options.... to have all 7 windows re-tinted would have run me $200+ basically 2 tickets = the price to have it re-tinted. F.Y.I: Anyone encountering confrontation from an officer of the law regarding tint....The best excuse I found to be pretty solid is explain to the officer that you purchased the vehicle pre-tinted from a neighboring state (the state you use must be one that is tint friendly) and that you were unaware that it was not legal to have it as it was sold to you with the tint. Focus on an expression of disbelief regarding the crazy idea that the tint is not a legal accessory. The majority of the time I would ask where and how I could have the tint removed at, and that I will do it very soon. Thus leading to verbal warnings 90% of my 18 total times. Merry Xmas
  7. I actually like the first gen GS alot, It is a timeless design/style much like the first and second gen SC's Beautiful cars. Merry Christmas 1st Gens are decent however the 2nd Generation 98-00 GS3's have shown to be nearly bulletproof. Top rated by consumer report as very low maintenance historys on record. I mean I have a 2000 GS3 with 142k on it and have had 0 problems to this point besides 1 lower ball joint and routine maintenance (timing/serpentine belts, Plugs, brakes, tires) Exterior is still pristine no paint fading and engine tranny is strong. I am a strong supporter of the 98-00 GS300's and foresee easily another 150-200k before I think about a new car. Can't beat the reliability if the vehicle is taken care of along the way. Lexus, Its not a Car Company.....Its a lifestyle! Once you experience the thrill, anything else is merely a bore!
  8. Basically looking for information on disconnecting the Warning Noise Cable to put an end to the ear piercing siren of the ABS failure alarm...... PLEASE HELP! I know people have had this problem before on the forum and even noted that they eliminated the noise and or disconnected the ABS system completely until they had the part installed.
  9. White smoke = Burning Coolant. You most likely either have a head gasket is bad. When head gaskets wear out coolant leaks into the motor and is burnt up during combustion in the engine. Thus producing the white smoke. The engine is missing because it cannot hold compression due to faulty head gasket not providing a tight seal. Since the water pump has been replaced already then 99% sure it isn't anything to due with the cooling system. There isn't a quick fix for a head gasket problem. It is a cheap part but heavy labor job. If you continue to overheat the engine you will most likely need to have the block/head machined as they will warp from heat. Ive had a head gasket replaced and head machined because I allowed the car to overheat several times. MY suggestion is buy the gasket online and find a low profile mechanic not a dealership or large service center to save you on the labor rates.
  10. Our cars the 2nd gen GS are known for having issues with the door lock actuators. The door panel is easy to remove take it of and see if the door ECU is getting wet. BTW welcome to the club of being on Lexus owner. BP 2000 GS3 with 140k here in South Carolina..... 3 weeks ago my passenger side door lock stopped working all together! Will not lock manually or with the keyless however window works fine. I am assuming that the connecting rod between the lock assmbly and lock button came disconnected. Whats the steps to pull off the door panel? Done it in the past to a few cars but the push pins are always a pain and normally break a few. Any suggestions? Is it worth buying a panel puller tool?
  11. In Virginia you also have the option for speeding tickets in upwards of $1,000 to what is it like $5,000. If you !Removed! in your GS in Virginia, your most likely getting a fine!
  12. I just made the trek from Northeast PA down here to Southern South Carolina....767 total miles on a little less then 2 tanks of gas! First tank I received 427 miles to the tank, 2nd one I did 242 miles on the 1st half a tank...... Not bad for a car with 142k on it! Lexus Love!
  13. If you find someone who does rebuilds let me know..... I did just come across this site Reman Brake Booster unsure if they are any good yet?! I'm going to drop them a line after the holiday and check it out.....I will keep you posted as info evolves.

  15. I have heard good things regarding the Bilstein HD shocks for the GS. Great replacement for OEM shocks due to no reduction in ride height and smooth like OEM ride quality. Driving a vehicle equipped with Bilstein Gas Pressure Shock Absorbers is an exhilarating experience. There is, quite literally, nothing like it. Unbelievable control and stability. Precise handling. Ultimate performance. And incredible comfort. HEAVY DUTY (HD) - For most vehicles including full-size sedans, SUVs and trucks. These shocks provide improved handling and stability without sacrificing ride comfort. They offer super damping ability that makes them ideal for heavy hauling for occasional off-road use, while maintaining an exceptional “street” ride.
  16. Here in Beaufort, SC even the Police Cars are tinted! Several cruisers are extremely dark as well <10%. Big change from my home state of PA where even a haze warranted a fine! Gotta love southern living!

  18. Just recently had ABS VSC lights come on and the warning siren started. Spoke with toyota tech and he confirmed that the braking system in the car works independently from the ABS. Also noted that the brake funtion (Power Braking) will remain the same however I simply will not have the ABS or VSC features. Also on top of the beeeeeppp sound there is off/on sound like a dieing cat. Toyota guy said that is the accumulator for the ABS which keeps trying to build pressure but may have a blown or leaking seal thus causing the accumulator to move continuously. The toyota tech stated that it is not really a danger to drive the vehicle. Can anyone tell me if either the ABS system can be unplugged or simply how I can remove the Warning Noise Cable until I gather enough funds to buy whatever part (brake booster, master cyl, pressure sensor). Please help! I am losing my sanity! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
