  1. you didn't say how many miles are on your car. The body does look in good shape (accident noted). Has the car spent it's entire life in MI? I see some rust on the under body. If you can get it fixed for under a grand go for it. But I see very nice LS's on the net for around 2K. And they are in good shape with no rust.
  2. I always assumed that if I wanted the better price of the net, I had to put up with waiting. If I wanted the part right away, I would pay the right away price. Just like a hotel, if you want the best rate you have to book on-line. Some people are jerks and I don't think there is much you can do about those people.
  3. I used Lucas this past November and it worked great. But, it is hard to beat Seafoam.
  4. I was using a torque wrench, I broke down and bought some Brembo rotor last night. I will replace them this weekend.
  5. I get a lot of pressure in my gas tank when the weather is hot. It really makes a sucking wispy noise. During the winter not and issue. I thought I would have and issue when I smogged the car but nothing was said. Air control valve is probably the white smoke.
  6. According to the owners manual it is Dextron II or III.
  7. Is it better to use ATF than power steering fluid? I changed the power steering control valve today. Now my power steering unit growles like it is low. It is very full. Do I need to flush the system and clean the screens?
  8. I replaced the air control valve for my powersteering. It was simple but not my powersteering is making the noise like it would when it is low. I filled it, almost overfilled. A lot of bubbles. Is there a way that you have to bleed the system after you put the valve in?
  9. yes, there is a certain battery type you will need. If you go to Wal-Mart they have catalogs in the battery department that will tell you the type of battery to get. If you go to Kragen the guys at the parts counter will pull you the one you need.
  10. I got one at Wal-Mart that had a 5 year replacement and total of 96 monts for $65.00. What I like about Wal-mart is there is one everywhere and they relpace items no questions asked. The battery that I got was smaller than the stock battery. But everything bolted right up.
  11. I have a 91 LS, and seemed to have bad luck with rotors. So I am begining to think I am doing something wrong. I went and had the rotors turned this morning and will reinstall latter today. What happens is, when I reinstall everything is great for about a month. Then the shaking in the front end returns when I brake lilghtly. I have rotors that I bought at NAPA and some bremble type I bought on Ebay. Happens with either set. I try to be carfull not to tight the lug nuts to tight, but very snug. Any ideas? Thanks, Bob :chairshot:
  12. I got my 91 used in 2003, I have put over 140k on it. I only paid $5,500.00 for the car. I replaced the air cond. compressor and the timing belt. With 263K on it I have to start looking for another one for another one that I can buy for 7 grand and drive for 3 years and do the same all over again.
  13. What is the best method of getting the Seafoam into the line? I was going to inject it with a syringe and get about a 1/2 can in.
  14. I think we can assume that the Seafoam is not going to work 100% of the time. Nothing is 100%!!! I am on my way to the auto part store to get some Seafoam. Where is the brake booster line on a 91 LS. I have 262K and this is my first time to do the Seafoam on this car.
  15. I have used the Seafoam trick on other cars with great results. Blake 918, I am thinking that maybe you didn't get enough in. You have to get the car to die from taking in so much. Then when you start it up it will smoke terrible so never do this indoors. (I hope this procedure casues global warming). But if done correctly it will clean-up your intake manifold. Or I think what you would call cleaning the throttle body. I was reading on the Nissan Maxima Forum, they all swear by it there.
  16. In the spirit of supporting a sponsor of this forum I ordered some shocks and some power steering parts from lexreme. I thought it was pretty funky that I had to pay using PayPal. I was planning on doing some work on my car during the holidays. Which are long over. Is it unreasonable to expect more pormpt service. I 've been buying car parts on the internet for over 6 years. Never had this happen before. Bob
  17. I have the tutorial for doing the front shocks but really can't find much on the rears. Do I need to compress the springs?
  18. Yaksi Mash (sorry I know how to speak Polish but forgot how to spell.) With that low a mileage per year I would make sure to change the oil and filter one a year and put some kind of gas stablizer in the gas tank as your gas is going to get old. I would hope you at least start the car up every month.
  19. Changing shocks is something I would normally do on a Saturday Afternoon. Been busy and don't have a Saturday to it myself. Has anyone had thier shocks done at a Midas or Les Schwab? I like they have a lot of locations and don't need an appoint ment. Thanks.
  20. I tried to reset mine 125K ago. Got so used to the light that I would miss it if it went away.
  21. I have been getting cars tested in California for over 20 years. Never brought one to a dealer and only had one fail. Knock on wood. Cause I have to get my RX-7 tested.
  22. I had this happen to me on two different cars. Neither was a lexus, both where Japanese cars though. I replaced the battery cable that connect to the battery. Worth a try.
  23. get a speaker you know that works. Run the wires on the speaker that doesn't work to the speaker that you know works. Does it work?
  24. All that info tells is that the car hasn't been wrecked. Take the VIN # and call a Lexus Dealer and find out what they have done to the care.
  25. for $89 is that a four wheel alignment? Not sure what price you where quoted on the timing belt. Was it 730? I had my done eariler this year. I also had a new water pump put in and a new steering pump (which I had on hand so I didn't have to pay) for $800.00.
