  2. I had the same problem looking for a fog bulb for my 92. The manual says it needs H3. So I went on ebay and ordered H3. However, this bulb did not fit because it had a wire on the end of it. Autozone had the same thing. I later found out on this forum that the correct type of bulb is H3C. I found a pair of Xenon H3C bulbs on ebay for 22$ total. The Lexus dealer in Beverly Hills wanted to charge me 25$ for just ONE bulb!
  3. It's possible that your intake may be sucking up water from the rain for some reason and mixing it into the combustion chamber.
  4. Yea the pros of an Ls are superior, not so sure about the cons though :D .
  5. Looks a little too smooth for 150mph dont u think? Maybe it's fabricated, maybe not. Here's a 1st gen doing 150. Notice how it's blurry cause of the shaking at that speed.
  6. Thanks guys. Your sympathy makes me feel better. I'm sure my dad will find a good repair guy.
  7. Pics of the crime scene... There's also another dent from a previous hit-and-run to the left (second pic) that happened just a few weeks before when my car was parked somewhere else. Anyone know any good and cheap body shops in the L.A. Area? I think its gonna cost a lot to fix just because it's a lexus.
  8. It's pretty ugly. I'll try to take a pic tomorrow with my crappy digital camera.
  9. Some SOB dented my car while it was parked and left the scene. The area above the left front tire is completely ruined. Anyone know how much this will cost to fix. :chairshot: My pappy tells me its gonna cost over 1000$.
  10. You need to go up to them full of rage and DEMAND SATISFACTION! Although every once in a while there's a car, yes icluding the LS, that has more problems than other cars of the same kind.
  11. I get at least 250 miles per full tank doing Los Angeles city driving. On freeways I get much better gas mileage. I know this cause I was able to drive from L.A. to Las Vegas (280miles) using only half a full tank of gas. I do have an aftermarket cone filter intake instead of the stock intake which I think doesn't make much of a difference. If anything I think it may be giving me worse city mpg. Don't know about freeway though.
  12. didn't find anything on recylcer.com. right now, ebay didnt have anything for 1st gen. I would rather do it myself and save $200. If anyone has does this I would appreciate some advice.
  13. If you didn't get it from the old owner your most likely gonna have to take it to the dealer.
  14. I am thinking of clearing the back lights on my 92 LS but just the amber part so it's RED/WHITE/RED. I saw some clear back lights on ebay running for about $180 but thats way too much for me. I did a search and found some posts in the ES and SC sections explaining a process in which they heat the lights buy putting the lights in the oven and opening it up and taking out the amber film. I plan on doing this to my LS but I'd like some suggestions and info from you guys first.
  15. The dealer doesn't have the code for the radio. It is set by the owner. If your car is pre-owned, the previous owner should have given it to you. You should consult your manual regarding how that feature works. The right side foglight bulb can easily be replaced. There are only three screws you need to open, the two on top and the one on the side. Once you open up these screws, pull the foglight out by holding to the lower part and pulling. Again, your manual shows how you can do this. If you don't have a manual, get one for free by registering at Lexus.com.
  16. find its blue book value at http://www.kbb.com/ i also recommend you do a carfax for its recorded history and records. www.carfax.com
  17. 99lsguy: Don't worry about that... :) 93LSOwner: I am fully aware of how the anti-theft system works. It wouldn't say ERR if it was asking for the security code, it would say SEC. I want to take the CD Player out but before I do that I want to know what the problems might be and how I would be able to fix it.
  18. I too am having this problem except my 6 dsic CD change is not Nakamichi. I was rear-ended while my CD changer was playing and after that my CD changer stopped playing. Ever since that happened the LCD says "ERR" when I try to play a CD. Does anyone know how this can be fixed. I really don't want to pay 250+$ for a cd player to be fixed.
  19. My gearshift became unusually stiff today. It's stiff when shifting into any of the gears. Even when going from D to N. I had my tranny rebuilt a few months ago, could this be why its stiff now. Any ideas??
  20. I am talking about my 92 LS. I'll see if it can be fixed. Blake918: burnt light on but no burnt light... hmmm. maybe you have a defective light bulb that is on sometimes (the times you check it) and is not on when your driving. This happened to me once. Had to replace bulb and problem was solved. Try to thoroughly check all your lights.
  21. Ok. Here's what happened. The Tail/Brake light Out indicator light came on. I have someone press the brakes for me and I discover that the rear right top corner brake light is not working. I open up the brake light compartment and find out that the bulb is fine since it worked on the other lights. I noticed that a contact in the socket was pressed in, so to make a connection, I use a thin piece of aluminum foil to make the bulb connect to the contact that was pressed in. Everything is okay for a while and the LIGHT OUT INDICATOR is off but the bulb looses contact again. I try to put a thicker piece of aluminum between the bulb and contacts while the brake light is being pressed. That's when I hear an electricity noise and all the brake lights that are attached to the car's body, not the trunk lid, go out. I checked the "tail" fuse and the "stop" fuse and they were fine. Anyone know what the problem might be???
  22. I am also looking for a new shift knob for my 92 LS cause the leather part is worn out and scratched. I found this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=2459422532 . The seller advertises that it will fit all years and all models of Lexus cars but I'm not sure if it will in fact fit the 1st gen LS's because of the O/D button and the shifting button. Also it looks like you screw it on but the 1st gens don't have that convenience. Can anyone tell me if it does fit my 92 LS? If not, can anyone tell me where i can get another shift knob or just something that covers the leather part of the knob?
  23. Thanks for the feedback guys. UCF3, I am talking about the parking lights attached to the headlights. Sorry I forgot to clarify that. We also have a 91 Toyota Previa that gets water in its right parking light as well. Whats up with that? It seems that the foglights are indeed H3C and there's some with xenon on ebay. I dont know if I'll be able to do what SKPERFORMANCE said by cutting off the end of the old foglights and crimping the opposite male or female ends onto the new H3 foglights that use a wire connector. The rearview mirror is a bit blurry on the left side when it's in DAY mode and it's hot out.
  24. I'm new to this forum and I was wondering if anyone can help me with some problems I'm having with my 1992 LS400 with about 118k on it. Water accumulates in the right side parking light compartment. Anyone know what's the cause of this and how it can be fixed. I think water from rain and sprinklers finds its way into it. 6 Disc CD Changer stopped functioning after my car was slightly bumped while the CD Player was in use. Everytime I try to play a CD the LCD says ERROR. The Dimming DAY/Night rearview mirror is a bit foggy sometimes, especially when it's hot outside. I ordered Xenon H3 Fog Light Bulbs from ebay cause the manaul says H3 should be used for the foglights. When I got the H3 foglights, it had a wire and didn't fit. The original foglights are H3 according to the manual and have double ends. Anyone know what the foglight type really is and where I can purchase them with xenon. That's all for now. I will appreciate any feedback people can give regarding these problems.
