  1. I think it's very inconvenient to have all the doors lock every time I put the car into gear. I always find myself trying to open a locked door when I approach the car in my garage. I'm all for locking my doors if I'm easing through a "bad" neighborhood but for me that's usually not the case. The manual states that the auto feature can work one of two ways: 1) The doors lock when the shift lever is put into a gear or 2) The doors lock when the speed of the vehicle exceeds 15 mph. I would like to know how to switch between these two modes and/or I would like to know if the feature can just be turned off. Thanks for your response and help.
  2. Can somebody tell if it's possible and how to disable the auto locking feature of the door locks? If I can't disable it, how do I change the feature to lock when the car is going 15mph? Thanks for the help.
  3. Thanks for the quick reply and help. I have found and ordered replacement filter and have already reset the notice. Thanks to both for the help! Craig
  4. I have this message when I start my car (A 2003 LS430): "Change A/C Filter". Is this something I should be able to do myself? Can anyone help with instructions on how to do and where the best place to get parts is? Thanks for any help that you can provide. Craig
  5. Thanks for the help on this and sorry it took me so long to get back. I don't have the nav system and the camera would be nice but I really think all I need is some knid of beeper to let me know I'm close when backing up. Maybe the "horn" could be mounted on the rear shelf? Do you know of any good sysytems for that? Thanks again!
  6. Can anyone guide me to a good aftermarket backup sensor kit for my 2003 LS430? I might be able to install myself but am not opposed to having it done. Thanks for any help you can give. Craig
  7. I know this is trivial in the big scheme of things but can anyone tell me the next step in calibrating my compass after I've driven in circles as described in the manual? The compass still reads 90 degrees off. The manual refers to a de-magnetizing procedure at the dealer. Is that something I can do at home? Are these compass systems just problematic? Thanks for the help. Y'all are great help to us! Craig
  8. Thanks for that one Sonyman! Sounds like a good idea. I'll do that next time I have it in service.
  9. Thanks for that reply JT. You have confirmed exactly what the service rep at the dealer told me. I just found it hard to believe that I had to live with the "clunky" feel of this transmission but if it's easier on the trans I'm all for it. Thanks again, Craig
  10. I would say that is totally normal your ECU has learned that shift pattern based on either you or the prior driver. My GS 300 also shifts through the gears very quickly while using a lighter touch. This actually is a good thing in my opinion because it increases your MPG and is easier on the transmission to not take the shifts up to the higer revs. If you reset you ECU and drive like a bat out of hell while it is re-learning your driving you may be able to change that but I would leave it. 11. Dump truck totaled my 97 LS400 so I moved to a 2003 LS430. I've noticed a very fast shift pattern in normal traffic. Starting out with selector in "D", transmission shifts to 2nd by 10mph, 3rd by 15mph, 4th by 18mph or so then maybe into overdrive our maybe downshift again in response to more throttle. Is this normal for the 430? I didn't know if some electric control regulates or what. It's a "certified" car and has the warranty. Should I press the dealer? Thanks for any help anyone can provide! Craig
