  1. So I've had this issue with my heater ever since I got the car, but I never bothered to figure it out. Here's the deal. First of all, I usually set my temperature to 72 degrees in the summer and in the winter and I set my vents to blow from the dash and the floor. In the summer time, there are no issues, the AC works nicely and 72 degree keeps the cabin comfortable and not too cold. Of course, if its really hot outside, I just set it to max cold. Now, in the winter its a different story. When I set it to 72 and the cabin is cold, both the floor and dashboard vents blow warm air. However, as the cabin warms up and becomes comfortable, the dashboard vent starts blowing cooler and cooler air, while the floor vent keeps blowing warm air. Once the cool and warm air from these vents mix, the overall temperature in the cabin is nice and comfortable, but the cool air blowing directly at me from the dash vents does cause some discomfort. So then what I do is set the temperature to 75, which makes the floor vent blow even warmer air and dash air also warms up, however once the cabin reaches warmer overall temperature, the dash vent blows cool air again but floor vent keeps blowing warmer air. If I raise the temp to about 80, the air that blows out of dashboard vent never drops to be uncomfortable, but the problem is, floor vent is blowing air that is way too hot. My understanding is that there is a cabin temperature sensor underneath the steering wheel, that lowers the temperature of the dashboard vent air as the overall temperature of the cabin goes up. But why does it lower it so much, and how come the floor vent isn't being affected?
  2. Here's a problem that my 94 LS400 recently developed. When cruising down the highway holding the throttle steady at speeds between 50-60 mph, and RPM at around 1800-2000, sometimes the throttle will cut off, as if I let go of the gas. RPMs go down to idle level, around 650, and the car keeps slowing down. Slightest tap on the throttle and it picks up again. Basically exactly as if you were to completely let go of the gas and then hit the gas again. What can it be? TPS sensor? Throttle cable perhaps?
  3. Whats up guys, this problem just started yesterday. When I start the car, idle stays low, pretty much at 650rpm - which is the normal speed for when the engine is warm. It of course makes for a rather rough/vibrating idle until the car warms up. When it warms up, the car is perfectly normal, idle doesn't drop below 650, everything is nice and smooth. So what could it be? I have a few theories. 1) ECT Sensor - it could be broken and telling the computer that the engine is warm, and therefor the computer isn't sending enough fuel. But I kind of rule that out, because that would create problems on acceleration while the engine hasn't reached operating temperature. Plus, on a cold start the exhaust has a heavy gas smell, so I'm more inclined to think that it isn't getting enough air. 2) Cold start injector - I really don't know how it works and whats its function. Can somebody shed some light onto that? 3) Idle Air Valve - thats my most likely suspicion. Could it be that its not opening and the engine isn't getting enough air? But in that case, wouldn't I still have a problem once the engine is warm?
  4. They are almost white, but not pure white. And I wouldn't buy seats from a car that was in a fatal crash. First of all cleaning somebody's blood from the seat isn't fun, and second, after such impact these seats are probably internally damaged anyway.
  5. Well, mine are out of 01 430, so they are only heated. If you find 460 seats they are going to be heated and cooled. You could find heated/cooled 430 seats, but thats gonna be a tough find.
  6. I found mine on ebay, very cheap. When I found them, there were also a set of LS460 seats, for only $100 more, but they were black :( If you find a wrecked LS460 you could probably buy the seats real cheap, there isnt much market for them. There are a few sets of 430 seats right now on ebay.
  7. They didnt just bolt in, I had to do some work, but it wasnt anything too crazy. Might be easier with a 98, but I dont know how much more comfortable the 01 seats are going to be. 95+ seats were always very comfortable, its the 90-94 that were horrible. hey OCH, did you have to make new mounting brackets for the seats ?? i have a 93 ls and i hate the seats that are in it!! any advice on the fabricating will be of great help thanks...by the way your interior looks really nice!!! thanks for the inspiration!! Well the bracket in front is straight forward. The track on the original seat was I think 18-1/2", the new seats are 17", but one of the holes matches. So I made a 1/4"x2" strip with three holes to mount the front of the seat, but the rear was a bit more complicated, I had to make a new hole in the floor and an insert to hold the seat. Nothing too complicated really.

  9. Yep, fully functional... well almost. Fully powered and heated, but there are a few issues that I couldnt figure out. 1) The seatbelt buckle illumination doesnt work - I was too lazy to figure this out since its a useless feature. 2) No seatbelt warning light on dash, even if I'm not fastened up - also too lazy to figure it out, useless feature 3) Seatbelt tensioner reducer is wired to the ignition instead of seatbelt buckle. Everything else works 100% Whatever you do, dont buy reupholstery from leatherseats.com - I had these for two years, and the quality, fit and finish are horrible, and they were in worse shape after two years than original seats after 12 years. I went ahead and swapped LS430 seats in. Nice Job! I like it very much!!! It Gave a new look to a car!!! Is seats still got power? Are they still operational like heated and stuff?

  11. Will the seats from 2nd or 3rd gen LS400's fit 94 LS400? Will the memory function work?
  12. Oh yeah, do they come with platinum or copper spark plugs? Which spark plugs do you guys recommend, OEM or aftermarket?
  13. My girlfriend has a 95 GS300 with 90,000 miles on it. I am looking for general maintenance tips, what should I replace, such as spark plugs, wires, PCV valve, fuel filter, air filter, etc. Also, she is not sure if her ex-husband ever changed the timing belt on it. Is there an easy way to check the condition of the belt? And if it is due to be changed, should I change the water pump along with it? What else should I consider changing once I'm at it? Thanks in advance
