  1. I'm leaning toward the head gasket theory. One check is to pull the plugs and put a pressure tester on the system. See if any cylinders get coolant in them. Sometimes a very small crack in the head will produce these symptoms. If you find the suspect cylinder and pull the plug, then start the engine with the plug out, no bubbles, you know that's the problem, the compression will no longer pressurize the tank. I think the bubbles are coming from compression. I saw it recently on a Corolla.
  2. I used to work at Plaza Lexus,...Audi,...Porsche,.... I've got 11 years of dealer mechanic experience. My 91 LS400 just turned over the big 200 mark yesterday. My Mom's 90LS400 has about 212k on it.
  3. My 91 LS400 has 200k on it. just turned yesterday. I changed the tranny fluid today, I'll let you know tomorrow how it went. Mine does it only on light accel, if I punch it, it by-passes the shudder. My Mom's 90 LS400 has about 212k on it, I don't think she has experienced it. Good luck, keep in touch
  4. I can do it Steve. I'm in St. Louis. fdw64@yahoo.com
  5. Hi, My 91 LS400 does the exact same thing! It is just like running over the wake-up strips. Tomorrow I'm going to change the trans fluid. Mine does it on gentle acceleration at highway speeds. I'll let you know what happens. Hope I don't need a transmission.
