  1. Wow, wish I had seen this before local Toyota dealership shafted me for exhorbitant charge for key then $90 to program!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. hi, how do i unplug the battery?the battery under the hood? Yes, the battery under the hood. It ended up not working for me either time, and as mine could not be fixed - the cds all jammed together as they were mass-manufactured recordable cds - I pleaded hardship at the dealer and they took a couple hundred off the price, put in a rebuilt - remember, there are no longer any new produced - replaced the blown speaker, and I am SO loving my sound system.
  3. I had the speaker in the left and right door replaced for about 150 bucks total. I am looking for a radio too. Let me know what you come up with. Don't take your car to the dealer with radio problem. My local Master Car Sterero did the work.... Lexus wanted 800 bucks and said all speakers had to be replaced with secret ohm kit. LOL :chairshot::chairshot: Thanks for the tires idea. Thanks Chuck - haven't had time to look into stereo yet, what brand and size speakers did they use? I had purchased what another stereo place told me would be the correct speaker, yet after they took the door off even they said it wouldn't work, refunded me, and sent me to the dealer...You're welcome on the tires.
  4. As I'd said in a different thread re choices of replacements for runflats, went to Michelin Pilot Sports - what a complete difference - smooth ride, safer ride because of better handling on corners and in rain. Also, after the runflats had had the aforementioned Portenzas - again, the Pilots are an incredibly-betterhandling, quieter, smoother ride. Almost was talked into the Falkens, but was a little hesitant to try them as I don't know anyone who's used them.
  5. I've been having the same problem (cds jammed together & error 3) for the past 1 1/2 wks, took to dealer yesterday. They advised me whole thing would need to be replaced (their quote for a rebuilt, as they no longer manufacture these according to them, is $615 plus I need to replace driver's side speaker for another $288 :cries: ), and whatever they did, now the cds don't even try to eject and I can no longer even see the cds to attempt to pull out (since it's now "useless" anyway according to them). Unplugged the battery overnight with no success. Will try again just for the heck of it. As I/we all shop for new stereos - would be nice if all of us would share what will and will not work. Thanks for all your input.
  6. My edit didn't take, but re the handling - so much better now. Always drove like Granny in rain on highway and on corners due to feeling loss of control, but now it handles like it should.
  7. I replaced w Michelin Pilot Sports two months ago and really feel the ride is tremendously better. Re not having a spare or run flats - I have a cell phone, and have towing w 800-Rescue through Hartford Ins. So I've a smoother, quieter ride every day vs a little inconvenience if I ever need to get towed/flat bed due to blow out or so. I'm good with that.
  8. No responses back yet? Ugh, was hoping to get some ideas as my cd player jammed last week :cries: , need to hear my cds, dealer said would need to replace w "rebuilt" at $615. And I need the driver's door speaker replaced as well - another $288. I believe I can get a great NEW (not rebuilt) stereo for this kind of money or a lot less, but was warned that I'd need to ensure the ohms and size were correct. Any specs on that? Thanks in advance for any advice. Oh, and did just unplug the battery overnight to try someone else's "accidental solution" to the same problem in another thread... we'll see if it by chance works. Other than that, have LOVED my SC for two years now...
