  1. I was so advised by Lexus dealer when making an appointment for the forthcoming oil change. It seems the new hose is made of metal rather than rubber. Time to change it: 1h.
  2. What psi (pressure) are you running your tires at? You can increase the psi to 35 psi (though I find it too harsh). Harder shocks will slow the transient sways, but not affect final lean; they will also give a tighter feel - which some people don't like - when road irregularities are met. Higher rate springs will reduce lean somewhat, but probably will need different shocks, so that rebound is controlled. The way to reduce lean (as in turns) is to increase the thickness of the sway bars, often along with harder springs and thus also new shocks. You can also reduce the size of sidewall of the tires, i.e. run lower aspect ratio tires (e.g. 35 instead of 55) but, if you increase the width to get back to circumference size, the sidewall will be the same size, though 'comparatively' less. Or you could try taller rims with lower aspect ratio tires, which might increase swense of 'turn-in' response. Re: shocks - I haven't looked into this for ages, but there used to be adjustable Konis and Bilsteins, where you could install the shocks and then 'tighten' them to your satisfaction (via a bolt/nut on the body of the shock absorber). Having read your post, I don't really know what you are trying to achieve = less comfort? More 'control'? Less 'rebound'? Less 'lean'? [i am sure there are lots of suspension experts who are members and will give better explanations than I can]. Good luck!
  3. Also - sorry - forgot to add - a CD is usually about 800MB. 4GB seems to be a DVD.
  4. My 09RX350 plays MP3-WMA etc... which, like you, I burned to CDs. My earlier RX300 did not read those formats. Are you certain that the 2008 RX reads the formats and did you 'finalize' (or whatever it is called) the CD for reading by other CD players?
  5. The simultaneous windshield and headlight washer operation is not the case for my 09RX350. Each operation is independent.
  6. Hi CJAY. I had missed your post in April, but am really glad that your experience confirms what I had heard about "TobyToyota". Thank you for reporting back. I will give him a call when my warranty is close to ending.
  7. It is from the date of first sale. -- I had recommended "TobyToyota" as you can see in the posts above, even though I had not met him -- I recommend you give him a call. Good luck!
  8. I don't really know the answer, but I always thought that the windshield washer tank was the one used for the DRL washer.
  9. That one is a joke/junk 100% for sure. Checkout the web-site: http://rs4performance.com I did, that's how I know for sure that it is a bunch of nonsense. There is not much out there for these cars. I agree. Don't throw your money away.
  10. I had a similar issue with the dealer insisting that I change the timing belt a 99RX300 at 60,000 miles because the maintenance schedule called for such change at 90K miles OR SIX(? or is it more?) YEARS. The dealer based his case on the time elapsed rather than the mileage. I gave in, but am not sure I should have done. Maybe another approach can be used: How long do you intend to keep the car? If not more than another year or two, you might think twice.... Otherwise, assuming the car doesn't get totaled, you are really just 'lending money' for a period, which at today's low interest rates, is not too onerous. But, reading other posts, there seems to be agreement that the belt should last at least 120K miles (+/- 192K klms), or, I guess the equivalent of ten years at 12K miles a year, and I never saw a mention of duration. I would hate, however, to strongly counsel against change and then you find the belt breaks soon after. On this forum, Lenore and some others might have more hands-on experience and thus better advice. [On an anedctodal note, the following summer the rear engine seal started leaking and this caused an expensive repair). Good luck!
  11. FWIW, when I was looking at newer tires on front or on one rim vs. all around on another car, I was told that Audi, for their Quattro (AWD) vehicles, allows no more than 3/32 in tread depth differences. I don't know if it is true, but it does give a sense of proportion.
  12. I know the underneath is different (but i don't know how...). If you can look at the "INFO" screen on the dash, the AWD versions will have 2 batteries, while the FWD version only 1. On both the RX300 and the RX350, the AWD has an "H" as the fourth letter of the VIN. Would it not be the same for the 400/450H?
  13. Did you check the air pressure in the tires?
  14. Doesn't the console slide forward or back, as you wish, when you depress the lever inside the 'box'? Sliding it forward would give you more room for legs etc.. for back-seaters.
  15. I never saw an RX with the option. I drove a (very fast) Corvette with the Heads-Up display (where you really have no time to look down at the dials) and find it to be great.
  16. Yes, as I stated in my previous post, I did the same (purchased one just over a year ago at about the price you mention), and was also amazed at the increase in current price.
  17. Another relatively recent post mentioned that Texaco Express Lube places have a product that stops the smell. Actually, here is the post - from 2010RX forum, dated Apr. 29th: Tomcan, Texaco Express Lube has a treatment for the AC evaporator that eliminates mold and odor. Surely Lexus has access to a similar evaporator fix. Nevertheless, to be getting odor at such a low mileage, may indicate a moisture drainage problem in the evaporator chamber. Good Luck.....Luke View PostTomcan, on 20 March 2010 - 10:52 AM, said: Have 2010 RX350 with 18,000 km and experiencing intermittent very foul smell from HVAC system. The dealer says it could be mould on the evaporator or the evaporator drain is clogged or both. Smell doesn't start until RX is at operating temperature. Auto sensing mode that is supposed to detect harmful substances in outside air does switch to re-circulation mode but only reduces odor. Smell can be so bad that I have to turn off HVAC and open the windows. Lexus USA has issued a TISB L-SB-0068-09 dated June 2,2009 which does cover the change of evaporator sub-assembly on 2007-2009 RX350. I've been told that 2010 RX350 has same evaporator as 2009 RX350 but haven't been able to confirm it. All RX350's for past 3 or 4 model years have been made in Canada and all major components are same for RX350 sold in both countries. For some reason Lexus Canada doesn't like to acknowledge Lexus USA TSIB even with all RX350's being built in Canada. It's been 4 weeks and dealer and Lexus haven't decided on remedy. Not what you expect from Lexus. Good luck!

  19. I had purchased the hitch in Feb. 2009, cost me US$240+$22 shipping from lexus parts on line = http://www.lexuspartsonline.com/ = but I checked now and the part's price has risen to $404 (!!!). You want (trailer hitch, RX330-350 and probably earlier 2nd gen.) part PT228-48045, which is a Toyota part though it comes with a "Lexus" rubber cap. It fits the Highlander of those years, and if you don't care about the "L" on the rubber cap, you could probably get it cheaper as a Toyota accessory at Toyota. Installation is easy. Any mechanic can do it in about 40 mns.; instructions are good and easy to follow. If you search this forum, you will find a number of discussions concerning the installation, which many (incl. myself) have done themselves. Below, plse. find the on-line sites of various Lexus/Toyota parts sellers: http://www.factorylexusparts.com/servlet/StoreFront http://www.carparts.com/autoparts/NewProductPageView/N-111+150/c-10618/s-10401 http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=213808&catalogid=0 http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/parts_detail.asp?id=180654 http://www.parts.com/ http://www.car-part.com/ (The list is surely not exhaustive) Good luck! http://www.lexuspartsmall.com/index.php
  20. On my 09RX350, the key remote opens the hatch whether the car is locked or not - but if you want to enter the car, you must use the 'unlock' button if the doors were previously locked. The power hatch does not unlock the doors even though it 'lifts' the hatch.
  21. Don't worry - be happy. You'll learn soon enough (incl. on this forum)if there are problems!
  22. I have an 06 RX 400h...hold down the button on the key pod that reads "PWR DOOR" ,it's the lower right of the three. You might have been given the key that doesn't have that...like the type that you would give a valet and didn't have this button...but all of the second gen RXs have the auto door...I am pretty sure...anyway, I love it...it doesn't pop the hatch, it opens it. On the inside you have the power door button to open it from the drivers seat. Oh, if you do have the power button on the pod, you have to hold it for a couple of seconds until you hear a couple of beeps. Let us know....Rey Thanks very much everyone. Works perfectly! .. and, when the hatch is open, pressing the Pwr Door on the key or on the lower left of the dashboard will close the hatch.
  23. On the 09RX350, you have both a button on the lower left part of the dash, and a button on the remote key, that open/close the power hatch. Don't knbow for 2006. Did you check the manual??
  24. I have a 09RX350, and I run the factory OEM Michelin Energy 18" tires at 32-33psi, i.e. nearly 10% above manufact.'s recommended 30 psi. My speedometer reads a constant +3mph from 55 to 85 mph.
