  1. We live in Miami, have a '99 RX300 w/66K miles. My understanding is that you do not 'tune up' the RX300: a computer chip maintains/adjusts settings, and if there is too much roughness or other problem, it means some kind of repair is needed (in addition to the regular factory-recommended maintenance that I assume you complete). I do not know of a mechanic other than Lexus of Kendall, where the foreman (Carlos) is friendly and knowledgeable. Re: cleaning... - ther are other posts in this forum which detail how to go about this. Let me know when you find the ideal: a great, honest, inexpensive, knowledgeable mechanic! Best of luck pauljcl
  2. If it's a Panasonic battery it is your original battery which is overdue for replacement. Don't waste your time cleaning or checking it, just replace it and your clock problem will go away. The clock reset is the first indication that your battery is failing. The battery will often test good, even load test good at a auto shop. Quality replacement batteries are available from places like Costco for around $50. Yes, I can confirm the problem is the battery, which needs to be changed. I had the same problem a few weeks back and followed the advice of Lenore (TKU Lenore!), changed the battery and now all is well. Display functions perfectly.-- Good luck. Pauljcl
  3. Thank you, Lenore. Do you know where can I get instructions on how to change it? - Before that, I'll have the battery checked under load. I will write and advise .... Tks again. pauljcl To Lenore and all who have posted similar advice on various posts --- Yes, the problem is not the display, but the battery. Thanks all for saving me the $ and effort to get and change the display. pauljcl

  5. I have the same problem with a 1999 RX300. Battery seems strong and fine. I had had a dead battery about three years back and the display showed no problems. Lexus dealer says the problem is probably a leaky capacitor - cannot be changed/repaired single - needs an entire new display because all electronics are integrated. Does anyone know how much a display costs (new or used - how to get one?) and how I could r&R it myself? Thanks much - pauljcl
