  1. As (I guess) most RX300 owners, I had the same issue and took the car in to the dealer shortly after I purchased it, used CPO. They told me it was 'normal' - all RXs did it. But - as noted by you and others, it is a function of the lower RPM at idle in gear. When out of gear in idle, or when the idle is slightly faster than set in gear, the vibration disappears. The only other car on which I had had a similar problem once was a MB190E2.6. Changing the motor mounts re-established the original smoothness. In response: I do not believe the ABS sensors have anything to do with this at idle, stopped. I had tried cleaning the injectors and the air temp/density control valve, but that made no difference. A fellow owner described a similar issue solved by cleaning the IACV (see: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30723 ) but you said you did it and it did not resolve the issue. On a conceptual level, the issue is not - in my opinion - due to anything related to ignition. Thus, it is related to fuel or to insufficient damping of vibrations. I had been unable to convince myself that any irregularity in fuel supply (or computer programming) caused the issue, because the transmission to 'no felt vibration' is quick and does not evidence any 'hiccup' when accelerating very very slightly. I therefore concluded that the motor mounts were the issue - either they were badly 'tuned' or had become a little harder (lost absorbability of vibrations). Since Lexus was unwilling to admit to a problem, and since I was not prepared to pay for new motor mounts on my own, I let vibrations be. However, you mention that you changed the motor mounts and a transmission mount, to no avail. Thus, I am back to thinking that it has to do with the richness (or lack thereof) of the fuel / air mixture. I don't know how the VVTiming system operates, but that could be an issue - or else something as simple as a vacuum hose leak. Sorry: not much help. Let us know. I empathize. Good luck!
  2. As far as I know, the spare si the same as the other tires. You should check the sidewall.
  3. The outside temperature display has a built in delay type feature that acts like a dampener for all the quick changes in air temperature that occur while driving at highway speeds. Anyone who has ever been on a motorcyle can attest to this phenomenon. There is likely nothing wrong with your car, just designed to give a smooth readout instead of a temperature reading that changes every few seconds. Mine is off 2 degrees F and that of a previous RX300 was off the same amount. I could live with it. But not with 10 degrees. If your car is under warranty, I would ask for the dealer to replace the sensor or adjust the system.
  4. There have been previous threads which advocate tapping on the head (apparent part, obviously) of the key so as to 'free up' the lock. Several people said it worked. If this happened to me, I would definitely try it. Do a search on this forum....
  5. Sorry (for you) about the events leading to the damage to your dashboard. There are a number of places that offer used parts, but you need to indicate what you want, and they contact their members and get back to you. A quick 'Google" led to: auto motix but there are many others - maybe you shoudl search 'used parts for RX300' or something similar? Good luck!
  6. Great! Tks for the link - it is in the 'Keys and Locks' section. I will try it on my 09RX350...
  7. My 09RX350 indicates that the programming of unlock when put in Park etc... are only adjustable by the dealer. I am curious: what does your manual say the procedure is? [i would like to try it.] Thanks, Lemon!
  8. IU had bought mine (that I installed in a RX300 two years ago) from: http://www.finemotoring.com/ and they seem to be less expensive there. There is a measurable increase in the light output. Definitely the way to go, but the light from the HIR 9011-9012sis about the same colour as the original 9005-9006s, so, while it improves night visibility, it does not 'match' the HIDs.
  9. My speedometer reads 2-3mph fast at all speeds (in excess of 60mph to 100mph), checking against a GPS. I don't have the Lexus NAV, but a 'portable' Garmin.
  10. I don't really understand by what you mean in "change door locks", but if you mean the setting that they 'lock' automatically when the car is in D, and unlock when in P, those settings can be changed by the dealer to be unaffected by the position of the gear lever. On my 09RX, the settings cannot be changed by the owner, only by dealer, except if a general 'reset' is made, in which case all defaults are re-established and all setting are lost. Good luck!
  11. I have found the RX side mirrors to be large enough to be satisfactory when well adjusted. On the BMW, I have added a 'wedge' (also comes as a 'round') wide-angle stick-on, which gives me the view of the area that was previously not seen. Many drivers add a 'sick-on', and they come in various sizes for various mirrors. Otherwise, though I am not familiar with the "European" wide angle driver's side mirror (and I often drive in Europe), if that is really what they have in Europe, why not order the part from there? Good luck!
  12. If it's like my 09RX350: ODO must be on total miles. Turn motor off. Hold the ODO button down and keep it down. Turn key to ignition setting while still holding ODO button down. The odometer reading will indicate it is re-setting and when it is reset - and only then - you release the ODO button. Turn key off. Then turn engine on and maintenance light should be 'out'. Good luck! [i don't have the 2010 manual, so cannot indicate page. If you want to know page in 2009 manual, I could probably look it up.}
  13. X5 is the same way! Crazy...no dip stick! Seems the 330Ci is the same. How often do you think the dealer really performs the check when you go in for an oil change (motor)?
  14. The basic equivalency numbers to work with are: Imperial gallon (as used in Canada and UK) = 4.55 litres US gallon = 3.79 litres 1 mile = 1.616 kms. Conversion to US equivalent (which, as noted above, is different that Imperial equivalent) would be as follows: Example: 8.0 l/100kms = (8/3.79=) 2.11 gallons per (100/1.616=)61.9 miles =>> 1 gallon per (61.9/2.11 =) 29.34 miles in US gallon terms. A quick, back of the envelope way to calculate could be: Knowing that 10 litres/ 100 kms is equiv. to +/- 23.5 mpg (US), 9 litres/100kms is a 10% improvement, 8litres/100k is a 20% improvement etc..., all calculated off 23.5 mpg. If you are using Imperial gallons, as they used to do in Canada, mileage would be improved by [(4.55/3.79)-1] = roughly 20% in mpg compared to US. In other words, a US mpg number of, say, 29.3mpg (8 l/100kms) would be equivalent to an Imperial number of 35.2 mpg. The US should adopt the metric system as does most of the world. Calculations are a lot simpler in a metric world....
  15. Well done! Sounds like a st (oops!) d eal to me. Enjoy the ride!
  16. I would assume that the 2009 RX350 still has a couple of years to go under its warranty. Anything wrong with the car should be fixed under that warranty. If requested just before expiration of the original warranty, an extended warranty (e.g. Lexus Platinum) could be purchased, which 'lasts' until 100K miles or another three years - thus longer than a CPO would from current date. A service history of the car must be available, since any work done on it would be through the warranty and a Lexus dealer. It's worth checking it's not a 'lemon', but otherwise things seem in order.
  17. Check this thread - might help. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=54527&pid=371423&mode=threaded&start=0#entry371423 Good luck!
  18. Please let me know if the TPMS feature can be completely disabled. It really is a pain in the butt at times. ... Thinking out loud ... If the TPMS system can be fully disabled, great, otherwise: 1. can cover the warning light or remove the bulb 2. The TPMS system can be 'reset' so that it alerts when a different (new) pressure is chosen - I wonder if one could set it so that it is OK with zero (0) psi, and then just keep the sensors somewhere in the car?
  19. I had the same issue on my 99 RX300. It was the solenoids that direct air. They need to be changed. Mine were done under extended warranty, so I don't know the cost. I do remember - a long time ago (2 yrs.+) - this issue was discussed in this forum. The sound was like the CD player 'hunting' constantly.
  20. Hellgrace5 and lenore: If the symptom is that the brake pedal is depressed to a certain level when the engine is not running, then depresses slightly more (with the same foot pressure) when the engine is turned on, then I believe this may be normal. If I remember correctly, this was the case on my 99RX300, which had no brake problems. I always thought it was simply the hydraulic power (the master cylinder/power brakes) entering into action: thus, for a same foot pressure, the pedal would depress more when hydraulic pressure was available than without the power brake active. [i explain this badly. Sorry.]. But I bow to the expertise of both of you and do not wish to muddy the thread.
  21. Then why did Lexus put on a trailer hitch rated to tow 3500lbs? Not all trailers need to be connected to the car's wiring to make brakes work. I am really writing about something I know nothing about.... but I had looked into buying a sailboat with trailer (both from California - factory). The trailer came with a brake controller that did not wire into the vehicle's system: it worked through the tow handle/hitch, and the braking was proportional to the pressure with which the handle pressed onto the hitch. Thus 'automatic' modulated braking depending on need. The trailerable sailboat was a MacGregor 26M - if you look it up you may find the trailer they use (which is - obviously - legal) and this may resolve your issue (?). Good luck!
  22. I would start by speaking with the people at tirerack.com and listen to what they have to say..... Thanks Paul for your help. I will speak with tirerack.com and I will listen to what their thoughts and feedback alike. Cheers Good luck, Francisco! let us know what you find out!
  23. Let me put it more clearly....I would never buy another Lexus/Toyota again! When I bought the RX400H I specifically asked whether it could tow an RV/trailer weighing less than 3500pounds. I was told by Lexus that it could (its also in their literature) and they installed a trailer hitch for me. When I tried to get a brake controller installed (as required by California law for all trailers over 1500 pounds( Lexus told me that it would void my warrantee! It seems that they would have to cut into the computer system wiring to install it. Thus, my $52,000 Lexus cannot tow! Lexus I had to cancel my order for my trailer.
