  1. This is something I had never heard of. Could it be a program that your dealership is specifically running, or is truely a Lexus program? --Duckman
  2. I don't turn on my headlights during the day and still had one of my HID lights burn out before 35,000 miles. My dealer replaced it under warranty, but I had thought the life of the new HID bulbs was supposed to be a lot longer than a standard bulb. It was weird too....got home and the light reflecting off the garage wall seemed a bit "pink" in color. Looked at the light and sure enough....a dark pinkish color. 2 days later...light out. --Duckman
  3. Very nice! LOVE the chrome wheels! It's great that you found someone that would pay attention to all of the details that were important to you. Even though you had to wait...I'm sure that the finished product more than makes up for the time. Congrats! --Duckman
  4. My Dunlops said Run Flat on the side. If you do not see "Run Flat", I would get the model number of the tire and look it up on a site like tirerack.com to make sure you know what you are getting. --Duckman
  5. I have been following along, reading about your keying incident and the repair/painting you are going through. First of all, sorry about the keying...that sucks. I'm sure I would have gone through the moon if it were my car. Second, I can't wait to hear how your paint job looks! A month is a long time to wait, so I hope it looks like it just rolled out of the factory! --Duckman
  6. Welcome to the club! Always nice to meet someone new here! B) --Duckman
  7. Ford packaged up Jaguar and Land Rover and sold them to Tata Motors out of India....just a year or so ago. So...this new Jag is a Tata car --Duckman
  8. To turn the automatic tilt off, you need to open the control panel which houses the mirror movement buttons. The button that says L and R for the left and right mirror....make sure that no lights are on....meaning no mirror is selected. If L is currently selected, press L again to turn off the light. When you don't have any mirror selected, they will not automatically tilt down when you go into reverse. --Duckman
  9. First of all...congrats on your new car! I am sorry to hear this happened almost immediately after driving the car off the lot..... This has happened to me a couple of times. The first time, I brought it in and they checked out the car....and nothing was wrong. The second time, I un-did the gas cap and re-tightened it....the light went away within a day or so. That being said, I make very sure, when finished fueling, that I tighten the gas cap until i hear two clicks. Since doing this little ritual...the lights have not come back. --Duckman
  10. The car looks really sharp. Low miles and appears to be CPO so you get a nice extended warranty....not to mention the balance of the manufacturers warranty. That should be a fun ride for years to come. Congrats! --Duckman
  11. You might be able to get them to lower the price a little bit, but if you ask me, the price is pretty dead on for the number of miles on the car. KBB on this same vehicle, in excellent condition, with 51k miles is just over $28k...with my zip code entered. As for CPO, I purchased mine as a CPO simply because they have a warranty up to 100k miles, which is great piece of mind. Not bumper to bumper, mind you, but it's nice knowing that I have some coverage on the drive train. --Duckman
  12. Gives your car kind of an "angry" look. Looks great! --Duckman
  13. Steviej: I am happy that you found a dealer/service department that provided you with the experience you deserve. The different dealerships make all of the difference. I have been amazed by the number of posts I have seen on this board about poor customer service at their dealership. The next time you go in for any service, see if your dealership has the book "The Lexus Story". It does a nice job outlining the requirements that dealers go through to become authorized to sell and service Lexus vehicles. With all of the hoops that they go through, and all of the money they have to spend to continually improve, its mind boggling that certain dealerships can lose their customer first mentality. I have been so fortunate with my dealership experience. Lexus of Wayzata has been awarded the "Elite of Lexus" designation every year (except one) since 1993 I believe. The year that they missed the award - 1996 - they made a change in management. Every time I go in there, they treat me with nothing but respect and class. They go out of their way to make sure that I have everything I need. They even call me a couple of days after each service to make sure that everything is still working fine. I bring this up because it is all about the people you interact with. The dealership can spend money to renovate and improve the physical location, but if they do not have the people in place that will build a culture of "customer first", they will never really succeed. It sounds like the new dealership you found might just have the right combination of customer centric people in place to make you happy. --Duckman
  14. I can provide some positive feedback on the Pilot Sport A/S tires in snow. I replaced my Dunlop runflats last fall with the Pilots and had no problems with traction this winter in Minnesota. Even in what appeared would be aweful driving conditions, the AWD along with my new tires provided me ample traction to get up and go. I can also concur with steviej about the performance of the tire in rain and dry pavement conditions. Two thumbs up from me on the Pilot Sport A/S. --Duckman
  15. I would suspect that you are correct....they inadvertently reset your warning message. I took mine in this weekend for an oil change and to have all of the recall services taken care of. Got charged only for the oil change. On another note, they installed new rear brake pads for me, no charge, along with taking care of the rear brake caliper service recall. That was a nice touch! --Duckman
  16. I did not include in my post that in all cases, the portable units and the car have to be turned completely off...in order to get audio back and working. Similar to what you are experiencing with your car. --Duckman
  17. Happens to me as well...not only in my car, but on my XM Portable unit also. I know of a couple of other people that have the same issues with their portable units. I don't know if it is a complete loss of signal, because the name of the songs and the artists still change....so the visual information is making it down to the players....just not the audio. Generally it happens if I change channels quickly....but that really doesn't make that much sense. It's a pain.....but it appears to be something on the XM side of things. --Duckman
  18. To turn off this feature, make sure that your mirror selector for manually adjusting the mirrors is turned off. So, if the left mirror is selected in the drop down unit, press left again to turn it off. When both are off, then the mirrors will not automatically tilt down when in reverse. This is not just a problem with the GS, the same thing happened to my 2005 RX. I had to have both mirrors replaced. My GS mirrors went bad at about 25k miles, so I replaced those mirrors. Now I use the tilt down feature only when necessary. I will put the car in reverse, open up the drop down unit to the left of the steering wheel and press one of the mirror selector buttons. Then I turn it off. I have read that it is caused because Lexus uses a plastic gearing system in the mirror that eventually wears out. --Duckman
  19. Welcome to the LOC. You will find a ton of useful information on this site. Most of all.....enjoy your new car! --Duckman
  20. I owned two RX's prior to my GS...and the same as you...other than standard service appointments, those vehicles were NEVER in the shop. Honestly, I have only had my GS in two times outside of standard service appointments, which sounds like far fewer than you. I really only have one complaint about the GS...the squeaks that you hear about often on this site. I have learned to live with it, not that I should have had to...but I did. This car performs great. It really is fun to drive in the snow, great to drive in the summer...I honestly love it. I love it even more since getting rid of the run flat tires. Those are not the fault of Lexus, but of Dunlop. The gas cap thing to me is not a big deal. Maybe it broke because it was -25 degrees out when I clicked it...who knows. They can replace it the next time I take it in for an oil change. Lexus of Wayzata takes good care of me, and I will be back....I'm on Lexus #3 and I don't see myself going anywhere else. I don't want to take away from your frustrations, but that's just my small take. --Duckman
  21. I have noticed the same thing with my fuel cap. I have blown it off as a "Maybe I just don't remember how it originally worked" moment, but, if others can confirm that it feels tighter when they remove it, then maybe I should have it replaced. The two times I have had the warning lights come on, I am willing to bet that I am turning the cap clockwise until it clicks...and I always turn it two clicks...but after the second click, I might have twisted just slightly counterclockwise and that is enough to break the seal. --Duckman
  22. This happened to me in November. See this post: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...c=52869&hl= It happened again a couple weeks ago...same situation. Filled up with gas, two days later, on came the warning lights. Well, I made an appointment to have them look at it again, and replace the cap, but I needed to fill up with gas in between the time I called and the time of the appointment. It happened to be two days between fill-up and appointment. As I was driving to the dealership, I looked down...and all systems normal. Has not come back again. I would fill up with fuel and give it a couple days. --Duckman
  23. Welcome to the forum CDubGS. When I purchased my used '06 GS, I had the same setup. AM/SAT button on the console, but no satellite capabilities. I took the car in and had them add XM Radio in the car, so it is integrated into my system. They charged me $300 for the parts and $250 for the labor to install. Since my car did not have a shark fin on the back of the roof, they strung the antenna up through the trunk and connected it to the rear/passenger side of the car, right next to the trunk. It is about 1" by 1" and about a half inch thick...so it is not terribly visible. I created a post on my experiences a little over a year ago on this forum. Here's the link: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...c=42245&hl= So, now the AM/SAT button cycles through my AM and three XM Radio preset lists and the steering wheel cycles through the preset channels. The only thing I don't like is that the '06 generation display screen shows the first 10 characters of the song artist and song title only....but....I can live with that. --Duckman
  24. Great information people! This gives me something to chew on....if I ever need a replacement for my windshield. --Duckman
  25. Personally, I would always want OEM glass in my car. You know it is a good fit and the glass will have the correct light visors in it....like the black around your rear view mirror. You can go to a non-dealer, but, I would insist on OEM glass. --Duckman
