  1. Wait Jim Walker charged you $750.00 to fix the needle lights!!! I think lextech was charging $100. plus shipping. But I think some people had bad experience with them. Like the lights would work a couple of days and go out again. But it's starting to get frustrating driving with no gauges! I hooked up a small light from my rear view mirror with one of those retractable string badge thingies. Like the ones people have to get into an electronic door or what ever. I bought a 4 dollar led light from Mall Mart and hanged it up. When I want to see how fast I'm going I just pull it down and it retracts back up The light is called "the u.f.o." and it even looks cool hanging there. But eventually I do want to get them fixed. Well I hope that helps some people for an easy solution! L8R, Tommy
  2. That sounds good!! So how much are we talking about with shiping and all that? I hope not as much as Lextech $100 not including shipping. So send me the info and we'll take it from there. That's cool that you started doing this for people. It' seems everyone has this proplem at one time or another. Thanks, Tommy
  3. I know this common problem with these cars. Doing research on a lot of previous posts about the subject. I found it only takes a couple of dollars in capacitors and some soldering skills. This is a shot in the dark but is there anyone in the Denver, Co. area that does this for extra money. I'm going to email Jim Walker at jimlwalker@sbcglobel.net. I heard he has the instructions on the procedure. But before a laymen (me) dives into this ambitious task. I thought I would see if there is anyone in Denver (or within 30 miles) that can do this. Saving me an unknown amount of time and heartache. Thanks, Tommy
  4. It seems it was the tire pressure after all. I have a slow leak in one of the front tires. How do those "seal a flat," things work? I heard their bad for tires, is that a myth?
  5. So what did the dealer say? I have the same problem, vibration that seems to be towards the front. I don't know if the tires need to be balanced? I check the tire pressure and that's not it.
  6. Toyota fluid is over pimped, funny! Amsoil sounds good. Thanks everyone for your help!!
  7. Thanks, So was the Max Life the wrong fluid? Should I drain two more quarts and add the proper fluid?
  8. Does every major car manufacturer need their own special brand of Tranny fluid? I tried to find T-IIII at a couple of auto parts stores but all they had was ATF+4, is that the same? The label said it was for Chryslers. Then the third store I went to said to use Valvoline Max Life 75000 DEX/MERC. It Say's it's recommended for Toyota's using T, T-III, & T-IV. So that's what I put in. So I'm reading in these forums that T-IV and Dexron are not compatible. Since the Max Life label Say's DEX/MERC did I put in 2 quarts of the wrong fluid? Can someone please make sense of it all!!!
  9. Thanks, I took the rock guard off and there it was. Pretty easy to get to. Thanks again!!
  10. I just bought a 1992 Sc400 last week. I'm doing the 2 quarts at a time tranny flush as suggested by people in these forums. Wow!! it looks like engine oil! So I figured I should do an oil change as well. Problem is I can't find the oil filter. I'm going to order some books on the car (because no auto parts store carries them!) So in the mean time can someone tell me where it's hidden. Or maybe it's right in front of me I just haven't seen it yet. Thanks, Tom
