Thanks for your reply. Its not a click click click sound. Its just one click and then it wont start until i start messing around with the battery cables. This problem only occurs when i leave the car for a 4 day or more period without driving it. If i drive it every day or every other day no problems at all.

Need some help diagnosing this problem. I have a 98 GS400 78,000 miles. Whenever i leave the car for 4 days without driving the car just refuses to start. I have sit there and continue to mess with it for like 15 minutes before it starts. I will here a little click see the lights come on but then it wont start. I dont have this problem when i drive it frequently or like two days apart. Any help is greatly appreciated.

For some reason my navi/display screen changed from a tan background with green highlights to a dark background with pink highlights (annoying). All the buttons and functions on the touch screen still work well. I noticed this after i got my tie rods and ball joints replaced. I tried adjusting ithe contrast and brightness t in the menu screen but to no luck. Has anyone experienced this problem and know how to get it back to the tan/green background.

Hey guys i need your help. My ball joint broke and i just had it along with the tie rods replaced. However when my ball joint broke apparently one of my front sensors broke too. On my dash are the ABS, VSC and VSC OFF indicators. What is the name of the sensor that i need to replace in order for them to go away along with the price and where can i get it. Thanks

Mine broke on me at 78,000 last wednesday. It was the front passenger side. Good thing i was coming out of a parking garage and was coming out slowly. The wheel held my front end up from hitting the floor. Ordered the parts from sewell, came in today going to get it done on saturday.

Wow I am having the EXACT same problem with my GS300. The steering wheel does not recenter and the steering is stiff. It also makes a whirling noise when I steer. I took it to a mechanic who suggested that it was the rack but then he didn't want to do the work based on a guess because of the high cost of parts and labor. I took it to another mechanic who says it might be the power steering pump causing the problem. I am sceptical about the power steering pump idea but it was cheep enough for me to try it out. I should have the results of this experiment after the weekend. Wow sorry to hear that. But i would like to hear your results. What i did thus far before going down the expensive route was to manually take out the old power steering fluid with a turkey bass (read this in another post) and filled her up with dexron/mercon transmission fluid. I then turned the wheel with the car running about 30 times in each direction for two days while the car is parked. It began to loosen up. I then took it back to the previous owner after a couple of days, who is a mechanic and he used an auto vac machine to flush out all the power steering fluids and clean the plastic power steering fluid holder. Filled her up with dexron/mercon transmission fluid along with power steering additives to loosen up the wheel. The wheel has loosened up alot but i am still feeling it out. Its definitely not perfect or how i think it should be though but it has loosened up.

Do you happen to have the part # for this plasitc piece? Mine is coming off as well. Was it hard to replace? No, it was not hard to replace at all...there is a series of screws along the bottom edge of the inside of the door. As far as the part #, I do not have it handy. Just contact Luis or Gordon from Carson Toyota/Lexus and they will give you the right part.GL! I am glad someone brought this up. I just noticed today that mine is starting to part ways with my door as well. I assume they come in the OE color, or do you have to paint to match? No, if you give the Parts Dept your VIN they will order part(s) in matching color for your car. Does anyone have a picture of this particular part as i am not sure what exactly it is. Thanks.

Sounds like the pretensioner is too tight. What exactly is the pretensioner and where is it located so that i can loosen it. I am willing to try anything before i shell big bucks as ive just started driving this car for two days but it seems like this just might be the problem.

Hi all, I have a 98 GS400 with 77,000 miles that i bought a couple of weeks back. I was just able to get it on the road and immediately noticed a problem with the power steering. First the steering wheel is very stiff and whenever i make a turn and release the steering wheel it does not come back as it is supposed to. I have to manually bring it back around. I have checked the power steering fluid and its full so that is not the problem. The steering is real stiff, is this how its supposed to be? Can someone, anyone please help as i dont know what the issue is and how much it would cost to get this fixed. I am scared to death and dread going to the dealer. Thanks in Advance.

Hi i just started my car lexus gs400. Its a 98, just bought it used a couple of days ago and noticed that the ecu power light is on in the car. Can someone explain what this is and what i need to do to properly fix it or get it off thanks.

Do you know of any legit sites or places that i can purchase the master key from so that i can send it in to that website you provided to be cut. They said they wouldnt cut it if its a fake key. I wouldnt know how to tell if its fake or not. Thanks again. Ok i just called that company that you provided and they do have the master keys there so i wouldnt have to order it from somewhere else. I am new to the lexus club just bought a 98 Gs400. I only have one key that came with the car and its the master key. I need to get another one. I called the dealer and they told me $250 for a new master key. Has anyone here bought a new master key elsewhere and programmed it themselves? Can you direct me where to purchase it for cheaper or am i stuck with the dealer?
