  1. hahahahahaha, the same thing is happening here Steve, it was 80 for a week, now its flurrying again
  2. The black chrome badges cost $500 ;) The main thing with the trunk bar is, while I like the look of it, I'm considering upgrading to black chrome badges (although I wont spend $500 for them lol) and the looks probably wouldn't go. I saw something very interesting on ebay the other day, black chrome wheels, they looked kinda sharp.
  3. No, after reseting the computer, if the condition were still present the lights would come back on. I wouldnt worry. Basically what you did was clear the trouble code from the computer so it was no longer there to fire the light. If the condition were still present, the computer would store another trouble code and cause the light to fire again.
  4. Welcome to the site Golf! And dont worry around here, a Lexus is a Lexus ;) I don't blame you for not wanting to pay Lexus to do it, and I'm sure someone here has a DIY suggestion, unfortunately I haven't come to this issue with a Lex before. I was under the impression the optitron gauges were lit by one giant cathode tube... Probably wrong again tho... Welcome!
  5. I like them too, but the issue is they're narrower, I really don't want to go narrower and risk increasing the way the wheels sit inward of the body. Its very similar to the LS wheels, I think you'll like them when I get em on ;) Now all I have to do is choose tires....I was going to do the Dunlop SP Sport A2, but heard bad things, same about the Bridgestone LSH...
  6. Yep, thats it. I've been going back and forth on that trunk bar too...
  7. Lexus likes to hide bulbs and make them hard to replace. I remember my dad had one of those little running lights on the side of the front bumper on his LS400 out, they charged me $70 to replace it. I also had them put on some new windshield wiper blades. They charged me almost $100 for that. It doesn't bother him either, you don't see me doing stuff like that with my Lexus, although it does only have 4000 miles on it... anyway... Try and locate a repair manual for the car, they sell them all the time on ebay. Hopefully it will show you how to get the console up. Personally I doubt it has to be removed, I bet the shifter surround just pops off. Call another dealer to get a second opinion.
  8. Welcome to the site Bruce, stick around! As for the maintenances, do you have the scheduled maintenance book that came with your car? The way Lexus does it on the normal maintenance schedule is every 7500 miles the oil is changed, then the next 7500 miles there is a more major service. This way every 15,000 miles the car gets a routine overhaul. I personally intend to have all the maintenance done. I don't know whats going to happen when this thing comes off lease, and if I decide to drive it for a few more years then I'll know that the service sessions are all completed. Luckily, you don't neccisarily have to have the work done at Lexus. They don't do anything very major that an independant import shop or a Toyota dealer can't do for 1/3-1/2 of the cost. Whether or not your area Toyota dealer will service a Lexus is totally up to them. Good luck!
  9. I found the site, unfortunately no mud guards. Sorry, I tried :(
  10. I own my own small time marketing firm, we do unique customer gift programs and customer retention management for car dealerships, and unique marketing items for small local businesses.
  11. I'm in the "manual is a hassle" school too ;) If you really are interested in the car Nabeel, talk to the guy in email. A lot of times if they think you're really serious they'll take the car off the market while you wait, might take a deposit of a few hundred dollars.
  12. The LS400 wheels will be the easiest to find too... I'll keep you guys posted. Just for fun here's the care with the wheels Nabeel and Steviej suggested. Issue with them is they're narrower, and very rare machined.
  13. I'm thinking so too. As I see it, the offset and bore are exactly the same, so they should fit right?
  14. Here's a better picture of the LS400 Platinum/LS430 machined wheels. I like these too, but the LS400 wheels are in MUCH greater supply. I could get a set of them for probably less than $400...
  15. I really like the ES platinum rim. Actually the chrome rim that Stevie posted is the platinum rim in chrome. They do fit, but they're 1/2 inch narrower than the stock 02 ES wheel, I'd like to at least stay the same or go wider. The rear wheels sort of sit inward of the fenders, I'm hoping wider rims will fix that. I've seen the GS3 wheels and they help. I think my favorite is the 98-00 LS400 wheel in machined. I personally think that chrome looks best with black. The black LS430 for example looks great with the chrome 17 inch wheels. The 00 Platinum LS wheel may look good too, but the photo I shopped of it didnt turn out as well because the wheels are a little too big, I'll work on it. Now the hurdle is will they fit? Any guesses? I haven't heard back from the guy at Victoria Wheel and Tire that said they would yet, and I know nothing about wheels. What we're looking at is a 16 by 7 wheel with a 50 offset, would that fit?
  16. Really? Thats one of the main praises for these tires on Tire Rack, the low noise. Thanks for the heads up. What tire did you put on?
  17. The Toyota ones wont fit right. The ES and the Camry share the same platforms, but they don't share any body panels, my guess is 95% they wont fit right. What I'm trying to find for you is a website that you can order OEM Japanese parts for the Lexuses. Lexus doesn't sell many of the mud flaps here, but in Japan its a factory option and its much more popular. I've seen the site, but just can't remember the URL. They sell lots of things for the ES like the chrome trunk bars that are on the JDM Toyota Windom (same as our ES300), Windom badges, and I believe they had the mud guards. I'll get back to you, its bound to turn up.
  18. I'm not an aftermarket wheel guy, if I do a swap, then I'm going to do it with Lexus wheels. I also don't want to go any wider than the stock 16 inches because I'd like to maintain the best ride I can. I personally like the 98-00 LS wheels on there, there is more wheel surface on there and I like that. Issue is, you really can't tell on a photoshop (especially with my skills lol), I'd do best probably to swap a wheel from my dad's LS and see what it looks like. The pickins are pretty slim...
