  1. It depend on which part... But 1992-2000 sc300/400 share quite some identical/similar parts. Exception made of engine, exhaust, suspension, etc. on which you should especially take time to check carefully. They often differ between sc300 and sc400 but also thru the years... Be sure to verify the compatibility each time for others parts but most will fit directly or with minor modifications. Have a nice day
  2. First, I would personally do it without a doubt, changing transmission fluid when it's needed to be done seems like a no brainer to me. Also, I would suggest you to strictly get transmission fluid from your Toyota/Lexus dealer. They have the fluid with the right specification for you transmission. I've done tranny fluid change 2 times yet on my car, both time with Toyota fluid ; once at a local shop and once at my Lexus dealer. Both did a very good job and both price were very similar since Lexus dealer sold me fluid at bulk price. I'll go at Lexus anytime again for this type of repair/service At the end, feel free to make our own mind, but I wouldn't be stressed about laying some money for such an important maintenance service. You'll be the one rewarded in the long run! Good luck Simon
  3. My 96 SC4 will soon be reaching the 200 000 miles mark and it still run like a charm even tho it has already been in a critical crash (not done by me), an uncertain service record from previous owners and hard winters... I'd say, just enjoy your SC and take good care of it... It might last much longer than any brand new car you could get those days!
  4. Yep must be power steering leaking into the alternator... Had this problem on my 96 SC about a year ago. Exact same situation with music & lights going out... And cops pulling me over as well!
  5. Ahahahah! Sadly, 1999LS400 is somehow right since the "goods" are mostly useless upgrades and that they're not even totally well done (aside from tasteless matter) and that the bad are things that shoud've been done instead of the "goods". But if you're able to post some pics, maybe it is way better than it sounds... Also, getting rid of a car because your gf doesn't like it...? While you do? If it was well maintained she would have loved it... And well, no lambo doors... Please. I suggest you look your local ads to find some others to get an idea of the price others could get, and then drop it because of the lack of care taken, and then drop it again because of the doors. Good luck.
  6. Hi Brievilla! The dealer might ask an huge amount of money for that part, as it does with most of them parts so that might not be an option. So finding a new one for a decent price would rely on aftermarket dealer. I guess it might be possible to find but I'll let others answer this since I assume you live in the US and I'm not much aware of US car parts sellers. Still, a used one (in good condition), since you found some, can be a great deal. Also I'm curious to know why you're changing the fuel tank on you SC... I always thought I would never have to change this part since it's in the trunk so it's not affected by rusting and can hardly be externally damaged... Good luck
  7. I think it's pretty common. My ES300 was doing the same and my current SC400 is doing so... Mine even gets higher than 1700 rpm during the winter since Quebec City is a pretty cold place... Every cold starts, it takes several minutes to idle normally (around 700 rpm) I wouldn't be too worried if I were you...
  8. The seller obviously made a mistake. It's a first gen (1991-1997) GS300 headlight... This won't fit a ES300.
  9. Could it be an internal plastic panel inside your fender that's been displaced by the pressure...? Then you tire is rubbing against it when you get into a turn... And you get that popping and rubbing sound. Happened on my SC for some reasons... Driver side tho. Hope it helps!
  10. AWD + better handling/steering without any doubt! I'm 100% with you guys!
  11. Hi guys, I wondered if anybody has a short shifter on his 92-93 ES300... If yes, where did you found it? I've read somewhere that a guy installed a 92-93 celica twm short shifter into his 1993 Camry SE 5 speed and it worked perfectly... Should it also fit 1992 ES300? I know that a lot of parts are the same between ES300 and Camry but don't know exactly about transmission... My fifth speed just got stuck 2 weeks ago... Transmission garage told me transmission was the same as Camry but gears weren't the same... Didn't found used ones so got to order from Toyota... I expect the shifter to be the same... am I right? Would be nice if any of you could help me with this... Thanks!
  12. I found out that 9005 bulb are fitting nicely 9006j housing. In fact, everything works very fine, no adjustement to do. So if anybody has problem fitting 9006j, maybe you should try 9005 for both high and low beam...
  13. after some research i found out u need a 9006j bulb. but i bet wit some sand paper or a file u could make them fit. Thanks a lot!
  14. I got a 1992 ES300 and I bought headlights from Japan (the '' 3 lined '' or ''dark housing'' or ''Windom'') model. It's been a surprise when I got them to see that only high beam bulbs (9005) were fitting in. Low beams (9006) bulbs were just too big to fit there and this, even if it's written HB4 (9006) on the headlights. So I bought PIAA lights that were said to be fitting both 9006 and 9005. They fitted just fine. Got tired of them bulbs so I bought an HID kit. Well, I hoped that the 9006 HID bulbs would being thinner than 9006 halogen but no, I had the same problem. I just wanted to know if some of you guys had this headlight model and how did you cross this problem? The only option I see right now is to take off low beam projectors off my american headlights and install them in my imported ones. It *BLEEP* me off a little to open both these headlights kit just for a little wider projector. or maybe if I rub the inside of the projector to thin the inside till it's wide enough? Well i'm asking it 'cause I bought another headlights kit from Japan and I expect to have the same problem. For those who got ''3 lined'' model, does it always cause so much trouble? Can I hope this third headlight kit to be alright? Well would be nice if anybody could give me some information about this kind of headlights. Thanks
