  1. Actually, is a good paint job around 1,000 dollars?

if you're willing to spend $1000, then your paint is gonna look like it did strait from the factory. there are places offering cheap paint jobs around raleigh for around $300, but the paint will most likely chip off in a few years.

  2. ah haaaaaaaaaa. i see now. i didn't want to seem snappy and rude but after re-reading my previous post, i see that i was. so is the catalog number 272-1092 for just that specific bulb that i found which is smaller, or is it the type of bulb? i looked through the drawers trying to find even a close match, but did not see anything any closer than what i found today. maybe a different radioshack will have another one. there are atleast 5 near me in raleigh. what about the difference in voltage? radioshack bulb:12V, OEM bulb:14V. is the replacement bulb any dimmer than the OEM ones?

  3. radioshack definitely has them, they are in the miniature lamp/bulb section and are usually found in the drawer displays. you need to remove the bulb from the gray base, here's a link to the bulb...

    miniature lamp

again, make sure it's the T-1 3/4 size, not the smaller T-1 size.

ummm...not exactly. i went to radioshack today and matched up the catalog numbers: 272-1092. the bulb that radioshack carries (the 272-1092) is about half the size as the one i pulled from my car. not only is the bulb itself smaller, but the 2 wires that come out of the bulb are about 3 times longer than the OEM bulb. you also said it's a 12 volt bulb.....wrong again.

i went to the dealer again today. the guy at the commercial parts counter (who i talked to yesterday) could not seem to find the right bulb (again). he was looking through schematics on his computer and didn't see the bulb anywhere. long story short (i know, too late  ), he was looking at the wrong diagram. he found the right diagram and found the bulb. the part number is 8499950270. it's a 14 volt bulb which sells for $10. he ordered 2 bulbs for me (none in stock) which will be in tuesday.

thanks for all your help guys.

  4. autos dont; have a traditional one plate clutch but a multiple disc clutch

they also have torque converters though....right? on the LS forum, questions have arisen about how much fluid is required for tranny drain and refill:

i also have a 90 LS and the factory service manual also confirms a pan drain requires 2 quarts to refill and total capacity/dry fill (including the torque converter) is 8.6 quarts.

...meaning that they have torque converters...unless the ES is different

90' And 91' Transmision Fluid, How Much Fluid?

  5. If your shop knew enough to ask if you needed the grey or black socket version, they should know the part #. My 1990 has the black...good luck.

i actually went to the dealer myself with part-in-hand. first i went to the retail parts desk. they sent me up to commercial parts. they both looked at it and couldn't seem to find the right one in stock.

  6. i.....i'm speechless. :cries: how could you..... why would you...... am i believing what i'm seeing :chairshot: .... :snoooorrrtttt:

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS :censored: PERSON?? they should be shot on site.

i have an idea! pres. bush is all about the death penalty. how 'bout we give our buddy "W" a buzz.

  7. Don't know the part number...$8.50 for a tiny bulb/cap unit from the dealer :(

if you bought it from a dealer, the reciept should have the part number on it. did you throw it out? the box/bag the bulb came in should also have the part number printed on it. i would greatly appreciate it if you could find this number.

  8. I should feel lucky, because I do not have to be at work until 10:00 am every morning and I only have to drive 15-20 minutes- depending upon the downtown traffic....

im really spoiled, but my drive takes all of about 20 seconds!! i back out of my driveway, drive 5 houses up, turn right on the first cul-de-sac, and another 5 houses to the end and pull into the driveway. btw, i am working as a carpenter's assistant helping my friend add on to a house.

  9. I'd like to change some of the features in my car such as the volume of the arm/disarm chirps, unlocking all the doors with only one press of the unlock button etc.

well i dont have a big list like you're asking for but i can take care of one question. all the gen I LS's have a knob that controls the volume of the chirps close to the hood release. it works just like some radios: turn it all the way one way, it clicks off (no audible chirps), and all the way the other way (loudest chirps). im pretty sure that your gen III LS is the same.

  10. I know the feeling! I head to work at 4:30 every morning, and eventhough I get plenty of sleep, my eyes feel like they weigh a ton.

93, 1,200 miles since Jan.?? Sheesh! I've had my LS since March and I'm up to approx. 7,700 miles!

4:30 am??? if you dont mind me asking, what do you do for a living and how far is your work? maybe it's because i'm 17 and can sleep for 15 hours strait, but how do you do that?? i could never do that unless im getting paid $100/hr!

  11. my 94 LS with 167k miles has never had any suspension parts replaced. every suspension part seems perfect in every way, but i like the 'floaty' ride. i'm pretty sure that many other members with older LS's and more miles than me also have the original shocks. i dont think the question is 'how long do they last?' but 'how long will they last before the shocks get too soft for your liking.'

  12. With your lexus?

    Huh??

if ur asking about what GSsoldier said:

btw my school bless them for the few things they do right has brand new pavement, WITHOUT huge speed bumps, so it gave me an oppurtunite to do some 360 spins and maybe some doughnuts....

then yes. i believe hes talking about fun in his lead sled. thats what i just got back from doing. most of the roads tonight were swimming pools at best. i also had the fun of drifting around many many turns around here. and theres nothing like doin doughnuts in a rain soaked parking lot at 12 AM. :whistles:

  13. -UPDATE-

went to the dealer today. they couldn't seem to find the right replacement. they know they dont have the right one in stock, but they can order on tomorrow.

Radioshack didn't have it, Autozone didn't, carquest, pep boys, advanced auto parts... NONE OF THEM HAVE IT!!

for those of you that have done this: if you bought it at a dealer, what is the part number?? please try to find this for me.

Thx a ton for all of your help everyone.

  14. i took off my black piece of guage cluster trim that contains the warning lights tonight. i found 2 burned out bulbs: the open door and airbag lights. my question is: does the dealer charge 'an arm and a leg' for these bulbs? if they do, where can i get them other than the dealer?

also, while taking off the piece of trim, as i pulled it out, a small rubber piece fell out and landed on my floorboard. can anyone identify this for me? it appears that a plastic rod went into it and snapped off.

rubber piece (top view) on the top of the rubber piece, you can see what appears to be a plastic rod sheared off. (the bulb is in the pic to show scale.)

    thanks in advance
