  1. -from the website That's wrong info! Both of my Lexi are OBDII, and they are 1994(ES) and 1995(LS). 1996 was when the vast majority of cars started using OBDII codes, but Lexus stays ahead in the game. B) The website is wrong when it says 1996 was the first year for OBDII codes. Both of my Lexi that are older than 1996 utilize the OBDII system. I never said OBDI doesn't exist!! how do you figure that ur cars are OBDII?
  2. care to elaborate?
  3. thanks!!
  4. blake - that doesn't make much sense. if that's wrong, why are there 2 different sets on codes and their meanings?
  5. yes, Johnson Lexus is located on Capital Blvd (US-1). I am enrolled as a senior at Millbrook Sr. high school on Spring Forest Rd. luckily, i get to leave that $hit hole school 6 months earlier than everyone else. i have enough credits that i can graduate in Dec as opposed to May. :D THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!! when was the last time you were in raleigh?
  6. do you have the lighters that go into the outlets? i can't imagine both of your lighters are missing. if you want to test the outlets, push the lighters in and see if they heat-up and pop out like they are supposed to. if the lighers dont work, then it's probably your fuse which is located in the kick panel fuse box near the E-brake. the lighters in my car were broken for the longest time. i checked the fuse many times, only to see a good fuse. i was determined to fix the outlets yesterday morning and did not come up short. the problems was: the contacts that were SUPPOSED to contact the fuse in the fuse box were bent. apparently, the previous owner had some sort of add-on that he routed to the fuse box. he inserted a thin piece of metal which at one end, hooked onto the fuse, and the other end hanging out so that he could piggy-back that fuse. this thin piece of metal pushed the contacts back so that when just the fuse was inserted, the fuse did not come in contact with the contacts in the box. a simple piece of wire wrapped around one prong of the fuse fixed this. well, once again i successfully drew out a 1 sentence story into a novel . moral of the story is: check the fuse, if it looks good then wiggle the fuse around to see of the contacts are bent. btw, all outlets are universal. can you take a pic of the item you are trying to plug into your outlet? hope my huge drawn-out story doesn't make you go .
  7. control arms make a different sound. my 94 with 167k needs upper control arms. they dont make sound when going over bumps or anything like that, only when turning at slow speeds (idle speed or below). also, they dont make a 'clunking' sound. the sound control arms make is more of a 'creaking' sound, similar to the sound heard when walking on floors in old houses with loose floor boards.
  8. have you looked at Used Ls400 Buying Guide in the 'Important Topics' section at the top of the 'Lexus LS400 / Lexus LS430 Forums' page?
  9. Is she ok? did she get injured in any way? what happen to the drunk teen a$$holes that hit her?
  10. kinda off topic, but once the 'brake wear limit' light comes on, is it true that the sensor is compromised?
  11. do you have anything else to add migirdech?
  12. yes i understand this but you did read the thread that informed all of us it was a scam right? Matt deleted all the threads with sal in them.
  13. the unknown other flashing warning light was ABS. i tried to clear it again today, this time in daylight :D. i did get it to clear my first try today in the light, mostly due to a better setup and preparation. apparently, the cruise control and the ABS are supposed to blink too. they did today when i cleared the airbag light. i told my mechanic about my big accomplishment and he said "you're lucky you didn't touch the wrong terminal by accident. You could have deployed the airbags."
  14. i was bored, just lookin around the LOC site and stumbled across this! pretty interesting for a "dead guy"
  15. and also the 94? 90-92 are the same as well as 93-94. I have a 94 with 167k miles. the ONLY problems i have are: creaking front end - upper control arms (costly and unnecessary to replace); noisy power steering pump - indie shop rebuilt PS pump and filled with tranny fluid-no biggie; gas milage - need to replace wires, cap & rotor; and......THATS IT!! I got lucky with my LS! many have burned out LCD screens, AC problems, instrument cluster light/needle problems, antenna problems...the list goes on and on, but i got the LS with the fewest problems and i'm really picky. P-Funk69 - please give us an update and ask any question u like. we're happy to help.
  16. i followed this tutorial so that i could replace 2 burned out warning bulbs in the instrument cluster. How to Remove the Instrument Cluster / Combination Meter. it says at the bottom of the page: i neglected to read this. luckily they also give you another tutorial to turn the airbag light off:How to Turn-Off the Air Bag Light / Clearing Diagnostic Code 41 as i tried to clear the light, touching each wire to the ground wire as specified by the instructions, the airbag light, the cruise light, and the ??? light (dont remember what light it was, it was a light on the bottom of the cluster, will find out tomorrow) flash in unison. only the airbag light is supposed to blink. my question is: what did i do wrong/what could have cause these other 2 lights to flash? im really confused about this. if anyone has anything to say about this, please post. thanks in advance.
  17. did you get this resolved?
  18. Travieso~13 - did you get your issue resolved?
  19. just like we all asked LS400er, are you sure you know how the memory seats work? have you used them before and they just recently stopped working?
  20. well im 17 too and used to work at the lexus dealer here in raleigh. i didn't get hired there b/c of 'connections'. i went to the dealer and talked to the detail manager every day for 10 days strait. he finally hired me with a starting rate of $8.50/hr (shows that determination does pay off!). thats not $10/hr like blake gets but its still WAY better than most of my friends who get $5/hr or $6/hr.
  21. you had better buy an older benz b/c the reliability has gone down drastically over the years. i'd keep your LS but its all up to you. good luck with your decision.
  22. ditto ;)
  23. hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!! that would hurt like a *%*#!@$# but it would work!!
  24. what about me?? it took me forever to find all those stupid threads! :D yes, definatly should be pinned as a common topic b/c it is!!
