  1. my car also is pretty bad off the line. i have brand new turanzas and they get a lot of grip. should i be able to spin a tire or two from a stop?? i know that i need plugs and wires, could that have something to do with the lack of power?

  2. if they are fans that are coming on b/c of heat, howcome they only come on when abusing the car in general? i never hear it when i floor it in a strait line and it downshifts and shifts ar redline. i only hear it after a doughnut, powerslide, or high speed run. the fans should come on after flooring it in a strait line if doing that makes heat and it does. im confused.

  3. some of you guys are probably gonna think i'm dumb but whenever i a.) do a doughnut, b.) do a powerslide(drift) around a turn, or c.) go above 100mph, something under the hood makes a noise. its almost like a whining sound. it goes with the speed of the engine and not the tranny. its really hard to explain but it would seem like its coming from the power steering area. i also think that its the power steering making noise because the steering wheel feels different and is a little harder to turn at slow speeds (between 0 and 10mph) when this noise is present. it goes away after a day or 2 and sometimes even later the same day. HELP!!

  4. I work at Johnson Lexus in Raleigh, NC. There are managers for each dept: service, detail, preowned and new cars. There is also a GM/ owner just like SW03ES said. you might try calling lexus america about this. I know that at johnson lexus this wouldn't happen b/c they are obsessed with making "Elite" for the 10th year. Calling lexus america and complaining is like grabbing that dealer by their.... (you know) and squeezing until they say uncle and give you the records. Hope this helps.

  5. well done in that old car. thats got to be fun. on the matter of achieving overly fast speeds in an LS, i have only gotten my 94 up to 135 mph before coming up on traffic. I do believe that it will go much faster. I am under 40, under 20, i am 16:still young and dumb. (no, mommy and daddy didn't buy my car for me. i pay through the nose for it.) i hope to one day hit 156 mph just like it says in the manual. :D

  6. did you want to avoid the high costs of a dealer? if so, just look in a phone book for other small shops that might specialize in lexus. My car got its 90,000 mile service done at triangle impots on capital blvd right near the lexus dealership. They have a guy there who is a lexus tech. if u need more info on this shop, just tell me.

  7. Hi,

I work at Johnson Lexus in Raleigh, NC in the Detail Dpt. I drive every car that comes through the lexus service Dept. so that they can be washed. I have seen many LS400s with well over 250k. I do remember especially a 90 LS400 with 298k on the clock. I also heard from another guy that works in the detail dept about a car that he detailed with 365k on it. I dont think that you will have any worries about your car not lasting.

  8. dont you think that the dealer would have noticed that? they looked at exerything: ashtray assy. need replacing, light bulbs out, heated seat switch sticky, unglued woodgrain. i think something like that would have been noticed. i might be wrong.

  9. I just bought a 1994 lexus LS400. I had a pre-purchase inspection done to it at Johnson Lexus here in Raleigh, NC. The only thing that they found that might have to do with this odd creaking sound that seems to be coming from the front end is the steering stabilizer bar. This was fixed though. Whenever i brake and turn in just the right way it sort of creaks. It isn't really loud, or cause any vibration. It only occurs at speeds of 5mph or slower. HELP!!
