I have a '05 that I took delivery on 12/24/04. It does not have bluetooth - can it be added?

No not really. Did your driving habits changed in any way lately? No change in driving habits other than to drive less due to HIGH fuel costs.

Has anyone had an issue with their brakes? Mine feel like the rotors are warped when driving at very low speeds such as under slow braking do ease up to a stop at the intersection. I have 20,000 miles now. I also have a tap, tap sensation in the brake pedal while at a complete stop. It is intermittent and the dealer cannot replicate the tapping. Anyone have that issue?

Has anyone with the TSB for the clunk noticed decreased fuel economy? I have been monitoring my fuel economy before and after the TSB repair. I have been experiencing a loss of approx. 2 mpg in overall driving conditions. Anyone else? Also, I have heard from mechanics that they do change the height of the rear of the vehicle because the splines catch due to the angle of the factory setting. Nissan had the same problem a decade ago and finally solved it by changing the hieght differential on the 4 wheel drive vehicles. Maybe Lexus learned it from Nissan!

I haven't seen a survey since Lexus bought back my first GX. Didn't get a single survey on the second GX.

Almost 6,000 miles, mostly local driving, since the TSB. No return of the clunk.

Had ours done too. So far it rides perfectly. Let's give it 3 to 5,000 miles to see if it is a fix.

Let us know how it goes. I am also experiencing it intermittently but not as bad as some people described it. I have an 04 model with 21K on it. Thanks. They said it will take 4 to 6 weeks for the parts to arrive. This applies to all model years. We traded in our '03 for an '05 on the promise they had fixed the drive shaft issue. Apparently nothing has really changed over the years until now.

I was just advised by my service advisor that it is a completely newly designed drive shaft and assembly that will cure the thump. The parts have been ordered! My '05 with 14,000 miles has had the shaft lubed 4 times.

I've had my '05 at Lexus of Palm Beach 3 times for the clunk and we only have 13,000 miles on it. This '05 was a replacement vehicle for our '03 that had the same problem. We were told it was fixed in the '05 and we agreed to the buy back. Now I'm looking at lemon law to get out of this thing and into a quality vehicle that doesn't clunk at every stop.

I mentioned that it qualified under lemon law due to the excessive number of days out of service and the inability to get rid of the thump despite three drive shafts having been replaced. They were actually very nice about it and did not force me to go lemon law. Bought it back minus a small usage charge. Unfortunately, the 2005 I bought has also had the drive shaft replaced, suffers from the drivers side mirror not returning to memory set position, outside temp is always wrong, etc..

Is there a TSB for this problem? Can someone who has had a successful repair type in their repair order line item by line?

Does anyone have a list of all TSBs that apply by year to the GX470? My outside temperature unit has been replaced twice and it still does not function correctly. It starts at over 100 degrees and after about 10 minutes of driving drops to about the ambient temperature as stated on the radio.

Lexus bought back my '03 and I purchased an '05. The '05 just had the drive shaft replaced after 3,000 miles. So far the latest fix has worked for 1,800 miles. However, we have had electrical issues. The up / down arrows on the clock display ceased to work. The left side mirror will not drop down when placed in reverse. When it does drop, it does not restore to its setting.

I have an '05 as well and it states 6200lbs. Does your '05 go thump?

I test drove a 2005 GX 470 at a "Taste of Lexus" event this past weekend. The build date was 08/04 and they said it was an '05 model. It did not have power lumbar support on the passengers seat.

The district operations manager told me that the '05 would be here in December '04 and that the engine will be 15bhp larger than the prior engine. He also said that priices will not be released until the vehicles actually hit the dock. Does anyone know what the base price increase is expected to be on an '04? I also was told that there was a price decrease on existing '04s.

How many GX470 owners out there have experienced a loud bumping noise and accompanying sensation of being tapped in the rear? My vehicle actually moves forward. I have brought it in for repairs three times now. Twice I was told it was a normal characteristic of the vehicle. Recently, I went for a test drive with the tech. He advised me that Lexus is aware of the "defect" but will not acknowledge it and that they have stopped using the defective component. Apparently the splines on the slip yoke for the rear drive shaft do not allow the vehicle to move as designed. Thus, the full weight of the vehicle is propelled forward after you come to a stop when the weight of the vehicle causes the rear drive shaft to slip. Has anyone had this repaired successfully? Has anyone been able to get the manufacturer to buy the vehicle back?

I have an '03 GX 470 that has been experiencing problems with the thumping that has been detailed in other members posts. The selling dealer said it was normal and I just was not experienced with 4-wheel drive vehicles. Another dealer replaced the front drive shaft and the throttle body. The problem returned within 500 miles. Now, the car lunges forward even with my foot on the brake which is a saftey issue. I have requested that Lexus buy the car back or swap me into an '04. Has anyone had any luck with having their '03 GX 470 bought back or being placed into an '04? Also, has anyone experience the sunroof partially closing when you brake and turn?
