  1. Go with the SC in the best condition you can find. You will be happy with either one I think. Some of the car magazines liked the SC300 more because it handled a little better since it was lighter. Also they liked the in-line six cylinder engine which was not too much slower than the V8. The top speed of both cars was over 140 MPh. You won't get the punch off the line with the 6 cylinder that you will with the V8 - that's about the only downside of the SC300. If you were buying a brand new one I and money was no object (the v8 was about $7500 more new) I might go with the SC400. Buying used to me it's a no -brainer - GET THE SC IN THE BEST CONDITION.
  2. Legend of Josh, Have the waterpump and thermostat replaced while they are doing the timing belt. If you do this it will save some problems later and doesn't cost that much while they have things apart.
  3. When you find out what needs to be done to fix the cd changer let me know mine won't work either 96 SC300. I went to car audio shop and they sent my changer (95 SC300 with std. sound syatem) to a factory service center and got it repaired/overhauled for around $200.00. They told me the changer was a Panasonic unit. The thing works great since I got it back.
  4. Own 1995 SC300 with 30,000 original miles. Purchased new in June of 1995 as an anniversary present for wife. We are in our 60's so we may be the oldest people on this forum. Loved the car from the first time I saw it in 1992. Still love it today and the design has stood up well over the 12 years of ownership. On top of that it is a great car - never needing any repairs (only routine maintenance).
