I have a 1995 GS300 that is leaking oil and it seems that it might be the valve cover gasket. My husband is pretty good with doing most of my cars wear and tear repairs. We have been a serious money crunch :( . So therefore is replacing the valve cover gasket something that is pretty simple to do, if so, would anyone have instructions or illustration on how do to this. I called an independent repair shop and they gave me a range @ $400, I dare not call the dealership. I've called a few places for the part and that was only @$30, so I am assuming that the rest of that $400 would be labor. Unfortunately for us, these days and times $400 is alot if it is something that is pretty simple to fix. He is really just unsure on how to get to it, what parts does he need to remove to get to it. What part shouldn't he remove to get to it....etc. I would appreciate any advice anyone may have. Thank you. This forum is truly a blessing :D

OMG...One of the coldest days of the year and I do not have any heat in my car. I have a 1995 GS300. I noticed over the last month that when I turn the control to turn the heat on, the fan...not sure if it does with the A/C, haven't had it on, it would make this weird noise like a whining type noise when I first turn it on especially if its on the first two settings, when I turn to the 3rd setting it goes away. My husband thought maybe something needed to be clean, not sure what. Anyways....I went to get in my car yesterday and turned the heat on, nothing is blowing out the vents. I can hear maybe like the fan motor humming but nothing is blowing out. What could be wrong? My husband thinks it could be a "clip" not sure what that is. I would appreciate any help. It's too cold...I need heat!! :cries: Thank you!!

Hi Everyone, I have a 95 GS300, it will not go into gear from Park. I have to use the shift release to put it into gear. I also noticed that I do not have any brake lights. I'm not sure if its the fuse, because sometimes my brakes will come on and sometimes it won't. I noticed that when this happens, I can't get the car into gear from park, that's when my brake lights do not come on. Could this problem be related and hopefully the solution will resolve both issues. Please if anyone can give me any suggestions I would appreciate it. Hopefully its a simple, inexpensive fix. Hi Everyone, I was wondering if someone could lead me in the right direction. I have a 1995 Lexus GS300. My daughter somehow dropped the key and it broke to the point where the key is really loose from the remote part. It was previously cracked before but it was still usable now i have taped up and i can still use the key, I just have to be really careful with it when I turn it. Where, besides the dealership, could I get a replacement remote key. Or is the dealership the only place that I can order it from. And would anyone know roughly what the cost would be to get a new one. Thanks in advance for any info that anyone can send to me. :)

Thanks for responding. He replaced the whole starter. Prior to the starter going out completely, every time I would start the car, I would turn the ignition then it would just click, then I would turn it a few more times and it would finally start. Then one day it didn't turn over at all and I heard this really strang "winding" noise when I was trying to start it. Thats when he replaced the starter. He got a used one because he knows someone that has a salvage business and sold us the part for like $50. As I mentioned before, there was some corrosion on the used part but it was exactly the same has the one on my car previously. Thanks again for your input. I really appreciate it. :)

Hello Fellow Lexus Lovers, I was wondering if anyone can give me any insight on why my car will not start. I have a 1995 GS300. My husband just recently replaced the started, what a job that was . He just replaced it the day before yesterday I drove the car all day yesterday, it started up fine. I didn't have any issues with it at all. Well this morning when I left to go to work, it did not start. It didn't do anything. The battery seems to be fine, all the power was on. When I turned the key, nothing, complete silence. No clicking, no cranking....nothing. Now the part we got was a used starter part. The part did have some corrosion on it, but my husband said he put oil or WD40 on it to clean it up and like I said it worked fine after he installed it. Unfortunately he is out of town this week, so he is not here to look at it for me. Please help, I miss driving my baby. Thanks.
