Why not try an auto wrecker / salvage yard? I bet sombody will have a "brand new" one out there some place. What happened to your spare to begin with?

steviej gave you the best site to check out a spoiler. However, my (and many others) opinion is you take away the styling of the 97 - 01 ES by adding a spoiler. Lexus dosen't offer one as an accessory for those years of ES & there is a reason for it. :whistles: The 02 & newer models look great with a spoiler but not the 97-01's. Just my 2 cents.

Well said bran! B) Couldn't agree more. I take my 01 ES to an indepentent mechanic that works on high end european & japanese cars & I save about 35% an hour for labour compared to the Lexus dealers & many replacement parts I bring to him myself (some of which you can't even get in Canada!). I take it to the dealership for warranty work only, unless it's catastrophic (which I dought will ever happen) repair. Those who are well off enough to spend that kind of cash at the Lexus dealer & don't care what it costs.....more power to ya! :D That just means I don't wait in line at my independent tech shop for "top shelf" service.

The spoiler on a 02 + newer I think looks fantastic! B) It adds a bit of style & class to the car.

Surely Toyota's red coolant (long life on the jug at least but I won't dispute that it's just regular stuff) is at LEAST good for 2 years or 30,000 miles like any other "green" regular coolant? The 15,000 mile interval seems a tad too early to change. Even the cheapest stuff lasts that long according to the bottles instructions when properly mixed. I would assume the Prestone "long life" red stuff is better than the Toyota/Lexus brand then?? I thought both the Prestone & Toyota long life had pretty much the same ingredents?

I'd go with a Lexus/Toyota long life coolant (or equivilent). Have your mechanic inspect the cooling system for any leaks & get hin/her to look at the thermostat & rad cap & hoses. Use distilled water as well & do a complete flush. After that is performed, keep your eye on the fluid level for the next week or two in the recovery tank. Top up if needed, but if your adding a lot in that time, take it back because something is wrong.

Good to know. The price at my Lexus dealer is the same as the Prestone Long life stuff you can get at any major department or auto parts store so cost is not an issue anyways. At least this way, as long as I have the bills for all service, if I have a problem down the road with the cooling syste, & the dealer tries to "pull a funny" tell me I used the wrong fluid or some lame excuse......I just show him/her the proof that I in fact purchased those fluids 25 feet to the right at their parts counter. ;) B)

I also buy the red Toyota/ Lexus coolant, use a 50/50 mixture with distilled water. Basically what is suggested in the owners manual. I do a complete change every 2 years or 30,000 miles (50,000 kms) regardless. Works for me! :D

I'd go with the GS, 2 more doors for conveinence & room.......they are both sharp cars I just think the GS is more user friendly & she's a "sleeper" if you have the V8! :D

No oil gelling issues or any engine problems with the "extended" oil drain intervals ebridges?

The tires might look neat but too heavy but just my opinion.

Toyo has a brand new UHPAS tire called the Proxes 4 & so far from what I've heard they are getting fantastic reviews & are reasonable in price. The ContiExtreme I also heard (according to Tirerack) are excellent for an all season tire at a fairly cheap price with a fairly long treadlife. Nice tread pattern too!

Agreed, plastic is more durable in the long run & it's cheaper for the automaker to build them that way as well.......they won't rust either. B)

You mean after you turn the car off and when the key is removed, the steering wheel just springs up automaticly on it's own?

What type & brand of coolant did he put in the car? I hope it's compatable with the type of metal you have in your rad & cooling system.

I'll never use fram again myself. B) I've heard good things about K & N as well. I have the K & N air filter in my ES but haven't tried the oil filter.....I use Mobil 1 filters at the moment.

I agree with setviej! 225 hp & 240 lbs ft of torque are decent numbers.

I have read that pinned topic yes....as good as it is, I'm asking for something a lot more specific that is not completely covered in that thread. :) 99ls has the right idea in the link he supplied, just a bit biased as steviej already mentioned but very close to being right on the money!
