  1. Blud, did you chect to see if the dome light will eventually go out after let'say 45 seconds to a minute after all doors have been closed? The car has a kind of "opera" lighting system with a delay after the doors are closed when getting out or accessing your keyless entry if it's set to "door" mode. Failing that, I had to have my entire "dome light assembly" replaced (under warranty) because my dome light was only working intermittantly on "door" mode so that might be a possibility as well. Hope this helps. :)
  2. Fair point B)
  3. One wouldn't put the Pilot Sport A/S tires on an ES as it is overkill to say the least. Unless one has done severe mods to it. I've tested from real world experence & found the best overall ride, and gas milage is between those pressures I mentioned. Yes the pressures depend on the load of the car but I never come close to the maxium weight limit & never will so I have no worries.
  4. Liqui-moly is distributed in Canada thru "altrom group" from what I've heard. Expensive but apparently worth it. We shall see.... B) Anybody else heard of this stuff?
  5. Perhaps your dealer can get in contact with the American Lexus head office and get some more information. Surely others south of the border have done what you are doing?
  6. My manual (and sticker) says cold tire pressure at 32 psi so I'm usually between there & 35 as I said, dosen't say anything about 26 psi anywhere on my 01. As for the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires, I had them on my 01 Maxima not on my ES they were an ultra high performance tire (and VERY good ones at that), but the ES is a different animal as you know so I only have the Toyo's which are only a high performance which is all that car needs and then some. It's funny, everywhere I've looked & read info about tire pressures....all advice has always been to go with what the automaker recommends.....your the only one that says to go to max pressure by what the actual tire sidewall says. :whistles:
  7. If you don't have the means to DIY, I suggest to ask some friends/family for a good reliable mechanic that they would recommend. I myself go to an indepentent shop that works mostly on high end European & Japanese cars and he is 40% cheaper than the dealership and does fantastic work (I only take my ES to the dealership for factory warranty work). Other than that, ask some other members that are near your area if they know any good shops for service.
  8. Without getting into how the rims feel about the tires or whatever (wasen't that on Jerry Springer?) of course they don't care about each other, they are not alive!!! Good lorn man, are you alright over there? :whistles: My point is, on the sticker door jamb, for my 01 ES it states that for my tire size which is 205 60 16 (v rated) that both front & back tire pressures should be 32 psi for best fuel economy, even tire wear & comfortable ride (a couple of lbs higher is fine to 34 or 35 psi). The maximum pressure should not exceed the psi stated on the sidewall of the tire that's on your vehicle (in my case being Toyo Proxes TPT's that is 44 psi, my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S were 51 Max pressure for my Maxima). So far I have no issues with anything that I mentioned above so in this case I agree with Lexus as after all, they put that in writing already & that's good enough for me!
  9. "Inadequate oil circulation"? Caused by what exactly? Low oil level, extremely dirty & contaminated oil? bad or clogged oil filter?
  10. Polls are a good suggestion, but you will most likely have people giving their opinions & perhaps debating on the different parts, fluids, performance accessories one uses & for what reason. People like to explain why they choose the stuff they did to use for their cars/trucks/suv's. If you browse the different forums, you will see what I mean. How about we have a poll on it? :D
  11. That thought had crossed my mind too 66! Fair question. B)
  12. Glad you enjoyed your trip to our nation's capital. B) There are not many better cars out there to take on a long drive like that than in the Lexus! :D I'm going to several locations in Florida starting on May 9th for my honeymoon & can't wait to take my ES. :D
  13. Got a question about oil viscosity here: What would be the pro's & cons of perhaps switching to a 5W 40 grade synthetic from a 5W 30? JPI (or whomever would like to address this), I'm just courious as to any benefits (if any) that might be gained by going to a slightly thicker viscosity synthetic. Or would more harm than good occur & please explain why? Also, any new details on the oil gelling issues at all anyone?
  14. Anybody ever heard of Liqui-Moly line of synthetic oil's & other products? B) It's a German product & my mechanic imports it from Germany (he's also German & runs an independent shop that services high end european & Japanese cars). Click the link to have a look. He says it's quite a bit better than even Mobil 1, Amsoil & Red Line! B) click the "products" section once your into the link. http://www.liqui-moly.de/web/lmhomeen.nsf/pages/index_flash
  15. Not a bad link at all SRP! B)
  16. There ya go! The vote is overwelming! lol
  17. Any idea what size spare you need? Anything the dealer suggests other than that outragous price tag?
  18. sk is bang on about one thing he mentioned about this being a long thread lol :whistles:
  19. I hope I NEVER see a Lexus with one of those huge wing spoilers phi, I think I'd die laughing.
  20. For the ES, it's agreed that somwhere between 32 - 35 psi is the correct range, (44 psi is the max pressure for my Toyo's on the sidewall....but ALWAYS follow what the automaker recommends for the correct pressure). SUV tires are a different animal alltogether with different characteristics than a passenger car tire hence the reason why the "max" tire pressure for a lot of SUV's is in the normal operating range of a passenger car tire.
  21. What does your door jamb sticker say? That was the pressure I've used for cars I've had with 14 - 17" tires & never had a problem with ride, or uneven tire wear.
  22. As I mentioned before, even if I had the 5 year / 150k mile stuff, I'd still do a complete cooling system flush every 2 years or 30k miles anyways. I'm not worried about the 15k mile thing thats been mentioned. I'd bet the ranch I will never have an overheating or any cooling issues ever the way I keep the car maintained. No worries. :D :)
  23. Between 32 & 35 psi I would suggest. Get yourself a digital tire pressure guage as well. Worth it's wait in gold & only about $7 - 12 depending on the one you get at any popular auto part store. Check the sticker on your door jamb to double check correct inflation just to be sure!
  24. I'm glad I decided to stick with the Toyota / Lexus long life stuff then. :D B)
  25. More than fair mburn & I also agree if Lexus is suggesting 15,000 mile intervals is a cash grab I'm not fimiliar with the black bottle of Prestone long life (or EXTENDED life as it's also known), just the silver jug of the stuff that says on the bottle it's good for 5 years or 150,000 miles with a 50/50 mixture whichever comes first. So this confuses the situation even more........perhaps one should e-mail Prestone to ask what the difference of their extended life coolant is & the Toyota/Lexus stuff?
