  1. Thanks dc, I'll give a couple places a call but I have a feeling the shipping is going to kill me since they are all in the southern U.S. we shall see. Thanks again! B)
  2. Will you just stick with the existing fenders then bdonk? or are you going to replace them?
  3. Having driven GM cars before my 01 Maxima which I bought brand new......I've always replaced my batteries with Delco heavy duty wnd they were just over $100 cdn including installation.......that why I thought the Lexus & Optima batteries were a bit pricy :) I've never had an issue with vibration or battery failure because of it either but I am impressed with what the members have said about the Optima & they will be sending me a brochure on their line of batteries. I wonder if they ever go on sale? lol :whistles:
  4. I think there is a special throttle body cleaner you can buy & I would use rag's as opposed to paper towels to be safe & perhaps an old toothbrush. B)
  5. Not knowing the complete history of the car, it is quite possible :(
  6. What is the service history on the vehicle if the transmission has been serviced before? Do you sitll have any factory warranty or an extended warranty on the car? A clogged filter is possible depending on where & how the car was driven (ie: extreme dusty conditions). What type of fluid was replaced in the tranny? some later model ES need Toyota type IV (type 4) fluid and NOTHING else. The filter usually needs to be just cleaned as opposed to being replaced as they are reusable. Let us know how the car is once you picked it up & had a chance to drive it. Welcome to the club by the way B)
  7. Fair enough....to each their own. I do my own research as well........I've tried them all also & I know that my Riviera, Maxima and now my ES all had no problems running on Sunoco & Shell........major performance & very rough idle issues with Petro Canada especially, plus they are partially owned by the federal government which I have a serious problem with considering the state in which this country is runned (it will be time for a new government come the end of this month lol B) ). I did & still do get the best gas milage with Sunoco bar none. What brand do you use on a regular basis?
  8. I'll take your word for it sk, I will consider that battery when the time comes.....the only thing I can say is if I car started any faster than it does now.....it would already be running lol.
  9. I wonder why they are not sold in stores all over the place?
  10. Wow! That's expensive for a battery! That's more than the Lexus one they put in my ES That one has a 72 month warranty too. I've e-mailed the company & they are sending me info on the red top.....they said I need the "35 red top". I've read the info on the website & it sounds pretty much like all the top rated batteries that are available now anyways for the most part (I know some stuff is different), but what makes them so "special" over any other brand name quality battery for the price they want?
  11. They are quieter & more comfortable than the Michelins.....as I've mentioned I've driven on both. Sorry sw, I know this was directed at yourself......just wanted to put my 2 cents in. :whistles:
  12. Shell gas is better than Esso & Petro Canada at least sk! They did a study on the big 4 gas companies a while back & found that Shell is indeed a fair bit back of Sunoco but in second overall nontheless........I wouldn't read too much into the problem some were having with their fuel pumps going bad after using shell gas. I always used the 91 with that brand & the problem was occuring with the regular 87 octane.
  13. I have a buddy in the business that's a body shop manager but the problem is it's at a GM dealer Did this body shop guy give you any idea how long the body will hold out after the work is completed? Just courious what he mention's when the rust might start to come back & did you ask him about rustproofing it afterwards? So he quoted you $2500.00 for complete body work & a complete paint job? That's not too bad all things considered. My boss just got his 92 Camry V6 LE (575,000 kms) painted about a year ago.....still looks pretty good & I think it cost him $1300.00 but he didn't have much rust.
  14. Where do you take your car for service Bryan? & dealer or independent shop? & where abouts?
  15. I would LOVE to post some pic's of my ES tint & all......I have no clue how to use the scanner to copy regular pics.......I don't have a digital camera.......I should get my butt in gear & learn I guess, I assume it's easy to post them on here? lol
  16. Thanks mburn, are they available in Canada at all?
  17. I own an 01 ES so it's a bit of a different animal than a 92 or 93. However, my boss drives a 92 Camry V6 LE & no word of a lie, it has 575,000 kms on the car! B) Original engine & original transmission! The only major expense he has had was the head gasket was leaking & needed to be replaces at a cost of $1300.00. Other than that, he just changes all his fluids (all synthetic by the way & uses Castrol Syntec 5W 50 grade due to the high kilometers and he does not consume any oil now) & uses quality gasoline (Sunoco is the best in Canada followed by Shell....stay away from Esso & Petro Canada due to it's very high sulphur content). Other than that, he just maintains it well & keep the tires in good shape (he just put a set of Toyo Proxes TPT's on it as well so he's keeping it for several more years yet). B) :whistles:
  18. I get a 4.4L (about 5 qt) jug for $27 Canadian (about $20 U.S.) at Walmart. I usually have a seperate 1L bottle I just top off with to bring the oil level right up. It's the most reasonably priced synthetic oil out there next to Castrol. Amsoil & Red Line are over $10 a litre!!! :chairshot:
  19. Your the first I've noticed at least anyways to have mentioned this oil. I'm using Mobil 1 5W 30 myself & have looked into many others. I'm just bummed that the Neo products are not more widely available I guess. How much is the stuff a qt.?
  20. Let us know what the problem turns out to be once you know.
  21. I have the hidden weights as well behind the "spokes" if you will, but never had any shimmy issues....hopfully it clears up soon, if not take them back & get them to re-balance them. Tundra, I went with "plain" wedding bands....no diamonds (but 14 & 18k gold). The engagement ring....well it had to be diamonds lol
  22. Glad your happy with your new tires sw! I posted an EXCELLENT article from Motor Trend in the wheels & tires section & it's worth a look. The wet weather traction on the TPT I agree are fantastic! B)
  23. Is there a website for these batteries or are they made by Interstate of something? What's the warranty? I have the Lexus battery (the dealership put a brand new one in this past January so I'm good for several years yet).
